June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

I want to be 21!!!! The sophistication of Pink is just...my style!! Except I have had champagne at a wedding and it was really gross...:confused3
I'm in my 40s and still haven't developed a taste for champagne:confused3

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. We had a small snowfall here yesterday, but it looks like that might be the last snowfall of the year here. At least that is what the weatherman says, but what does he know???:rotfl:

How many of you are going to do some time in the parks before the cruise? It looks like we are going to stay at the Carribean Beach Resort prior to the cruise. Savannah has a birthday that week, so we will be heading down early for that.
We are not planning on doing the parks before the cruise but we will be staying a couple nights at WDW -DVC Beach Club. New DVC members here:goodvibes
We'll be driving from VA so figure a day to just relax by the pool will be nice to unwind after the long drive.

On the Dream, there is a similar spot that might work. The “Vista Café” is on Deck-4 Starboard, across from Shutters and overlooking the main atrium (just head up the grand staircase and your basically there) Here’s a pic:
Disney-Dream-0150.JPG

Just a few thoughts, but I don’t want to be seen as trying to run the show, so anything y’all want to do will be fine by us. We’re just glad to be able to sail on the Dream in the first place.
Great idea:thumbsup2
Vista Cafe sounds like a great spot to meet:goodvibes

I know that the D-Lounge is where you go to make all your reservations for Palo/Remy/etc. so it might not be the best spot. I love the idea of the Vista Cafe though! Not a problem that you suggested that though, thank you for the idea! Lol, I would never have thought of doing it there! I'm in favour of doing it at the Cafe. How about everyone else? :worship:
:thumbsup2

I think the Vista Cafe would be a great place to meet on the first day around 3pm. I could make a 8X10 picture of our lanyard logo and Green Mickey Head and have all the lanyards to distribute to the families.
I also like the idea of meeting up on the at sea day at the D lounge for family games. That sounds like a lot of fun!!
sea day meet would be fun too:woohoo:

Okay for the tendering Mike and I have figured out how to avoid stairs however if there was an emergency I would be screwed because I don't do stairs well any one else have this problem
I usually do the stairs the first day and then just get pooped and take the elevator the rest of the time
Just leave yourself plenty of time to get anyplace as the elevators are a pain when you are in a rush.

Yay for the weather getting better and warmer! We've needed that to happen! (I live in Prince William County!!! ;))

Me! I have a bad knee on one side and a bad hip on the other. Stairs are a real issue for me! Going both up OR down! Especially with people racing past me. And we are on deck 9!! :scared1:

The Vista Cafe sounds great to us! I can't wait!!!!
My DH just had a hip replacement in October. He is getting around pretty well now.

Too bad it is actually 4 more after this one, they changed it to 15 posts before you can private message.

Guess I'll go write bump on a few threads under the cruise section.

:laughing::thumbsup2

Hi everyone,
Deadline to order lanyards if you are not on the FE gift exchange list is March 1st.PM me if you want them, they will cost $2.75 each.
I will place the lanyard order on March 2nd.:thumbsup2

I have bought the cardstock and printer ink to print up all the lanyard logo's.
I will be working on them the week of March 1st as I am on school vacation that week with my kids.

For all on the FE gift exchange list, 6 families have chipped in for the lanyards as gifts. A BIG Thank you to all of them.:grouphug:

***Also note that a great idea was given for everyone to meet on embarktion day at 3pm at the Vista Cafe on deck 4. I will be printing up our Lanyard logo on a big 8x10 sheet and also a green disboard Mickey Head so you can spot our group. At that time My family and I and anyone else who wants to help will pass out the lanyards to everyone.*** How does that sound to everyone?? If you can't make it at that time I will make sure to go to your staterooms and put them in your FE's sometime that evening. OK.:wizard:

I think I'm already on the list to buy lanyards but if not, I would like 3! :thumbsup2

I like the idea of meeting at Vista Cafe!

We are not planning on doing the parks before the cruise but we will be staying a couple nights at WDW -DVC Beach Club. New DVC members here:goodvibes

We are staying at the Beach Club with our new DVC membership too! (joined last year) We are going to stay 3 nights before the cruise. We are thinking of hitting Universal/IOA and then Epcot on our last day/night before the cruise.

I'm enjoying the birds chirping this morning. Just another sign that spring is almost here. :yay:

You live in the neighboring county to me. I'm about 3 miles from the Fairfax County/Prince William border by the Occoquan river in Woodbridge.

I live a little more mid-county....right on the Manassas line at Prince William Parkway and Hoadley Road. Small world!!!

Ok, so my family and I are going to be participating with the FE's. What I'm wondering is, are we supposed to leave a gift for each person in the family or one gift per family or how does it work?

It is totally up to you-- Some people give a gift to each person, while others give one gift per stateroom/ family! On the TA, we had 65 families doing the FE, my FE was ALWAYS full!!!

Because of all of the snow, our last day of school is now Friday the 24th. We leave on Saturday evening (25th) & are spending the evening at the Hyatt in MCO. (We are flying in from CT & meeting our friends flying in from OH)

We are doing back-2-back cruises & then on July 5th, we are checking into Bay Lake Towers until the 12th (DVC). I haven't stayed there before-- I am so excited for this entire trip! Funny thing is, we are going to Disneyland in 3 days (and staying for 3 nights) & then going on a Disney Mexican Riviera Cruise on Sunday the 20th... Yet, I am MORE excited for THIS trip!!! :dance3:

I think a meet at the Vista Cafe sounds like a great idea and a really nice time to hand out the lanyards!

Cool, maybe we can meet up at Beach Club before the cruise:thumbsup2
We bought into DVC last summer when we were cruising-great deals on board.
We might try for Universal on the day we disembark, then stay at Animal Kingdom villa a couple days before heading home. Makes getting off the ship a little easier.

I live a little more mid-county....right on the Manassas line at Prince William Parkway and Hoadley Road. Small world!!!
Fairfax VA here, so yes small world:laughing: Lots of Virginians here:cool1:

We leave on Saturday evening (25th) & are spending the evening at the Hyatt in MCO. (We are flying in from CT & meeting our friends flying in from OH)

We stayed at the Hyatt before a cruise once. It was great to get off the plane and be right at your hotel. :thumbsup2

LUCKY. We wanted to hit MK/Epcot after the cruise (we hit Hollywood Studios last year), but it was just too expensive. Hopefully when I work for Disney DVC may be discounted :thumbsup2

My grandparents looked into DVC membership once but decided against it. I want in lol, when I'm older it would be nice to finally see Disneyland and DLP. :)

Wonder if there will be anyone left in the NOVA area once we set sail? :rotfl:

I'm so excited I can barely stand myself and we still have soooooo very long to go!!!!

Well my family will be left in VA, as I'm going on the cruise with my boyfriend and 2 of our friends.

Does anybody here happen to have an extra child booked on their reservation that they were planning on "dropping" before final payment is due? The reason I ask is (as I posted a few posts ago) I am trying to add my son's friend in our room (that sleeps 5) --we have 3 people booked in it as of now... but I CAN'T b/c of capacity limits. (Already switched My Mom off & added my friend-- the kid's Mom). I was thinking if someone here already had an extra kid booked (and wanted to help me out more than you could imagine), we could do a name change on your reservation. I will treat you to dinner at Palo for your generosity! Seriously. Obviously, the kid would stay in OUR room with me, my ds & his Mom!!!! Anybody? :flower3:

I actually did this for someone on DIS one year-- I put their kid on my reservation b/c their room only slept 3 & there were 4 of them (one still in a porto-crib!)

I just DON'T get how I can't add another person to our room, YET I can make an entire NEW reservation for 2 or 3 people online still!!! (Nothing for 4 or I would have already done that!)

We are having the same problem... can't get 4 of us in a room that says sleeps 4 or 5. Reason they're giving me is the lifeboat situation. Each station can only allow xx number of guests, so although the room may fit 4 or 5 people Disney has to do it by the number of guests. However, my friends got a room last night for 4... beat me to it I guess. I booked one room for 2 but if we all can't get on, we won't be sailing on this one (that's why I haven't signed up for anything yet). I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks for the update and for looking after the list! :thumbsup2

If someone just shows up with any kind of sign that has a big “DIS-Green” Mickey head on it, we’ll all be able to find each othet very quickly.

We could also set up additional (and/or optional) meets on different days and at other spots on the ship to get together for say, coffee or join in as a group for one of the family games, or anything else you might think of. Our sea day should be pretty leisurely and might be a good time to try something like that.

Just a few thoughts, but I don’t want to be seen as trying to run the show, so anything y’all want to do will be fine by us. We’re just glad to be able to sail on the Dream in the first place.

I LOVE THE VISTA CAFE IDEA!!! And PLEASE RUN THIS SHOW!!!:goodvibes We need someone to set up the meeting times and locations! Is everyone planing on dressing up for Pirate Night? Maybe a meet for a group photo would be good?!?!?

Ok, so my family and I are going to be participating with the FE's. What I'm wondering is, are we supposed to leave a gift for each person in the family or one gift per family or how does it work?

On our last cruise, I assigned everyone 1 day to deliver their goodies- dies this sound good to everyone here? Then you deliver just the one night and enjoy receiving all the other nights. Right now it looks like 27 staterooms participating so it would be 5 or 6 families assigned to each night. What does everyone think?
I am going to send a PM to all the folks on the meet that I have not heard from to see if they are interested in the FEs and the lanyards. It's getting closer and closer to SAIL AWAY TIME!

My family will be dressing up for pirate night me and my kids, hubby doesn't dress up. Meeting for a group photo would be really awesome.pirate:

Thanks for the update on the maiden voyage.....great advice: watch what you read on the Internet....it always seem much more intense in print!! :rotfl: It has been awhile since we have had a vacation...it should be easy to make us happy!!

So.... I have been lurking for a while but now there are deadlines and things, so I guess I have to come out of hiding.... :cool2:

We booked this cruise back on our last Magic cruise a year ago - that was the one that got stuck at Castaway Cay and stayed an extra day.
Read about it here

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2397543&highlight=extravaganza

So anyway, I am cruising with my Mom and my two boys ages 13(14 by cruise time) and 16. We are totally psyched to be sailing the Dream!

I am not interested in FEs - too much stress - LOL, but I will buy 4 lanyards. I will PM CSWAN with our details.

We actually have 2 cabins - 6690 and 7191. We had planned to have a few other folks joining us and that fell through. I was going to put us all together in the Cat 6b, but it was actually cheaper to keep the two rooms. Plus I really want to see the virtual porthole!

We already have our flights booked, rental car and hotel (quality suites). After the cruise we are staying at a timeshare in Orange Lakes. We plan to do Discovery Cove, Seaworld, Aquatica and maybe a DW waterpark and DisneyQuest - we have some passes left from a few years ago.

That is about it! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

It is so exciting to see everyone posting - things are definitely picking up and that tells me we must be getting closer!!:cool1:

And so many from Virginia - I live in Harpers Ferry WV now but grew up in Sterling VA near Dulles Airport. And I saw someone from MD too near DC - I work in Gaithersburg. So hello neighbors!! Certainly is a small world!!

I am getting so excited about the cruise but I just havent had as much time as I would like to put in to planning. I saw this idea on one site of doing a quilt with autographs - bringing along quilting squares and having the characters sign it - I really would like to do this but not sure I will have the time to organize it. Anyone else a big planner? I love reading the threads on what to bring. This will be our first cruise so I welcome any hints!!

I just wanted to stop by and say "hi." I had initally tried to go through and get caught up with everyone cruising, but with so many posts, it'll take weeks. My DH, DD1, DB, and I will be joining my parents as their anniversary gift to themselves (and us too--we are so spoiled!). It'll be my third DCL vacay--we did one the first year on the Magic, the DVC members cruise on the Wonder, and now the Dream, which is a Dream.

It'll be our first cruise where I won't be able to spend the entire time floating on Serenity Bay, but I'm really excited to watch DD's expression for everything. She's in love with Mickey (and has been to WDW twice already--once for her 1st bday).

So, anyway, howdy!
