June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

I vote for the red one also. I am not sure if everyone in my group would use them but I want to get them for all. We have 20 in our group.

I love the red, too! This is my pick!

minnieandgrumpy1, are you guys interested in the Fish Extenders? If so, could you please PM me the names of everyone in your party, the kids ages, the room numbers and your email address. I am putting all the info together and will email the final list when we get to closer to cruise time! Thanks!

So, I was thinking last night about a name for us---- maybe we can incorporate it into the lanyards and maybe even shirts. Any ideas????? I was thinking "Living the DREAM" or "My DREAM came True" or "Our DREAM Vacation". How about "If you can DREAM it...." or "It all started with a DREAM". Any other ideas????

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! I have been so busy this Fall, hoping things calm down so I can get back to planning. It is so exciting we have less than 6 months.

I am a little worried I won't be able to participate in the FE. We are considering flying (instead of a 12 hour drive) and all these baggage charges -its crazy - I am wondering if anyone with experience here can tell me if they think a family of 4 can pack with just 2 checked bags and carry ons for a 5 day cruise (and a night on either end)? If we do fly, I dont know what kind of FEs I could actually get in my luggage with all the people signed up. :confused3

How late is too late to decide on the FE?

Thanks Everyone!!
(OH and I need to change my signature - SIX months till the Dream :cool1:

I know the baggage fees can be a KILLER for sure! I think I am going to mail a box to the ship instead of packing a lot of the FE stuff. We did this on our last cruise and it worked out BEAUTIFULLY! And I think it was only like $10 to mail it versus a $35 baggage fee!!!
I was thinking of putting the cutoff for the FE sign up around 45 days out or so----- what does everyone think?

Fish Extenders---- the gift exchange on the ship. I don't have the list right here but I think we are up to 14 cabins participating!!!! It is going to be GREAT! Care to join in the fun?

I just got back from the 11 day Christmas Cruise and now will need to start thinking about the Dream cruise. The Christmas Cruise was wonderful. I am really excited about the Dream and would love to participate in FE gifts. It was tons of fun on the 11 day cruise. We had 66 people participate in this FE. We also had Secret Santa gifts. I was delivering gifts every single day. But, it was so much fun. Now it is time to focus on this cruise.

Oh I totally cried too!! :rotfl: I cried over that horn battle when they first posted it too. I'm such a sap!!!

Well, has anyone else noticed that stores are starting to put out summer attire already??....INCLUDING swimsuits!!!! :scared1: I'm not swimsuit ready yet! I'm working on it but GEEZE, give a girl a chance!!!

So today I was at Target looking for some photo albums when I passed by the clothes and saw all the new summer stuff. I did buy a cute swimsuit cover up that was navy blue with white anchors on it. Thought it would be cute for the cruise. But I still think it's crazy that I'm buying summer stuff on Jan 4th!!

Oh, Dear! This body is so NOT ready for swimwear :rotfl:. I need to loose 10 pounds so I can fit into my ski clothes :sad2:

I think you could get all your luggage for the cruise in those bags. Tan & black bottoms (neutral)with mix & match tops for dinner are a great space saver. I just change as soon as dinner is over so that I can re-wear them. Everyday summer shorts, tops & swim-suits don't take up much room either. We have gone to WDW the last two summers with only carry-ons. You can do it :thumbsup2

As far as FE's, it is up to you but one of the nicest (& practical) gifts I got in my FE was a personalized bookmark. I actually got a few of them and still have them all. They were laminated & had our group logo and dates and ports. Take up very little room/weight.

I agree, Crystal. Shipping a box is very reasonable and a great way to save space. We did 3 holiday cruises (2 were 10 day) and shipped a box of Christmas Decoration (tree and all) along with DD's gifts and FE's both times.

As far as the FE cut off, I have found a really cool personalized gift that I want to order at least 6-8 weeks before. I can easily order some filler gifts for others that join in after I order but whatever the cut-off you decide would it be possible for you to periodically post an updated list for planning/budget purposes?

Welcome Back!! Christmas Cruises are so much fun. Too bad DD is now in High School and DCL makes the dates impossible to take her out of school for that long :sad1:

Lanyards - what ever the group decides is cool with me. I will only be getting one for myself

I am planning on updating the list this weekend and I will email it out to everyone!

I really like "It all started with a DREAM".

I like it all started with a dream

Oh, good! I like that one too!!! Anyone else have any ideas? Anyone really good with computer graphics that could create a logo for us???

I am going to update the Fish Extender list this weekend and will email it to all the emails I have so far. If anyone out there has yet to confirm participation in the Fish Extenders, please let me know! Please PM me everyone's name, kids ages, your room number, and your email address, I will add you to the list! Thanks!

Love the lanyard idea!!! Though I must admit I like the blue better but that's because blue is my favorite color. :goodvibes

We will be getting two, regardless of color, they will be awesome to use for work after the cruise.

I also love "It all started with a DREAM"....
but "A DREAM is a wish your heart makes..." That's a close second...

Our family is really starting to get excited about this cruise. It will sure help us get throught the long winter ahead.
I am looking forward to hearing how the back 2 back's will work on the Dream. Hopefully there will be some early reports about that. Is anyone else doing a B2B?

Ami

I just changed our reservation to a B2B. This will be "leg 1" & we will stay on through July 4th then travel to WDW's Saratoga Springs until Sunday, July 10th!

As far as the lanyards-- I like the red & I like the logo "Double Dipping on the Dream" as the quoted picture shows! This cruise is a Double Dip cruise, which makes this slogan unique to THIS cruise! (Double Dip refers to 2 stops at Castaway Cay as Back to Back is 2 cruises in a row!) So the Double Dip slogan would be perfectly fitting-- ANY cruise can use a generic "Dream" slogan.. :) But I believe WE are Dream's 1st "Double Dip" Cruise EVER!

Also, red is a good choice because Disney gives out 3 different color lanyards (based on cruise level) and red is NOT one of them. They give silver/ grey lanyards for silver cruisers, yellow/ gold for gold cruisers & black lanyards for Platinum level cruisers.

On our Transatlantic Cruise in April, several of the families (maybe 9 or 10 of them) paid for ALL the lanyards & were the "lanyard team"-- thier contribution WAS THEIR FE gift (or in place of it)-- This worked out well for families that wanted to participate in FE but were worried about space in luggage. Once we have a final # of families & an exact cost of lanyards needed, we can figure out a reasonable amount for the "lanyard team" to pay (and how many families we need on the team). Then when when we are on the cruise, the "lanyard team" STILL receives FE gifts, but does not need to bring any as their "gift" was the financial contribution towards the lanyards for everyone... Get it?

June seems so far away (especially looking out the window at the 8" of snow we received last night!) Luckily, we are doing the President's Week Mexican Riviera Cruise out of CA on the Wonder prior to this one (in February) with a few add on days in Disneyland! This helps with the countdown to the Dream cruise!!!

Howdy All!
We’re planning to be aboard the Dream for the June 26th sailing and we’d like to join your little group. This will be our third time cruising with DCL (once on each ship). This will also serve as somewhat of a 20th anniversary present for us. We’ve been booked for a good while, but didn’t want to jump in until we got a little closer to the sailing date (and were more sure that we wouldn’t have to move to a different sailing).

I haven’t had a chance to read back through the entire thread yet so please forgive me if any of these next few questions are rather obvious. Are y’all planning an F/E Exchange and if so, who’s in charge of the members list? We’ve actually headed up that committee a couple of times in the past and had a lot of fun taking part in the exchange so we’d defiantly like to join.

We’re looking forward to being back on a Disney ship and meeting all the folks in the group

That's an intriguing idea, and if that is something we want to do, I would be interested on being on the 'lanyard team' as this is the 2nd leg of OUR b2b....

Actually, all of the 5-day cruises are double dips, including our 21st of June cruise and including most all the cruises in June. I think only the first cruise in June is NOT a double dip.

We have a new quote for red lanyards with "It all started with a DREAM".

You can find it here. This one has the breakaway and the correct size badge holder, and each costs $2.05. :)

Thanks for all the responses and great ideas!! I love the bookmark idea!! I actually have some little photo card holders (from back in the Creative Memories day) and I was thinking about predecoarting some of them Disney and/or including Disney stickers/die cuts...does that sound like something people would want?

I love the lanyard idea!!

We did go ahead and book the flight (and 2 - 1 way car rentals - so much cheaper than the shuttle or maybe I wasn't looking in the right place for the cheap shuttle) - but the airfare was much cheaper than I had been finding so I jumped on it - may kick myself later if prices drop. But knowing I could make it work in 2 bags definitely helped with the decision - so Thank You!!

So know we fly in Sat am and dont leave until Sat night. My kids really want to go to Harry Potter at Universal - does anyone have any ideas how soon we could make it there on the Friday we return?

Thanks Everyone - I am getting so excited!!

I vote for the lanyard with "It all started with a DREAM". :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what I'm doing for FE gift(s) yet. Last time I brought so much stuff and it took up waaaay too much room in my suitcase. We aren't flying so at least I don't have to worry about weight, etc. But I DO need to fit the things I need/want to bring. :rotfl: I promised my DH I wouldn't go so crazy with the gifts this time. Last time I had several things for each PERSON and trust me, it was A LOT!

Anyone really good with computer graphics that could create a logo for us???

Really good? Probably not, but I like to tinker with images. I see that the current working title for this cruise group is something along the line of “It all started with a DREAM”. With that idea in mind I very quickly put together this image (obviously I’m open to revisions and suggestions):
aaa01f.jpg

Like I said. I like tinkering with images. I’m just getting stated on ideas for our cabin door magnets. I’ve also been known to put together images for other DIS members. If you’re interested, holler out with ideas on what you’d like to see and I’ll see if I can work something up (or direct you to the truly talented folks that probably can).
