June 23rd 2012 - Commandeering the Disney Fantasy - Pirates back in the Caribbean

For Grand Caymen we are thinking of the pirate Encounter.. we cant find any listings for Costa Maya.. We are still looking over the list for Cozumel... does anyone know of any zip line port adventures listed by Disney

Todd knows a lot about Cozumel, but I haven't noticed him around lately. I've never ziplined there, so I am not much help. Did you look at www.shoretrips.com

We are leaving for WDW Saturday. I know we are meeting up with Darren & Laurie for a little bit at Chef Mickey's the 25th before we head to the airport. Mike, you & Linda are going about the same time (I think?) Anyone else?

Also we will be in NYC Sept. 22nd for a long weekend to catch a Yankee game and meet up with Lorri and hopefully Peter & Jack and families. Anyone else going to be in the area then?

Since we will have a three year old, we won't be able to do too many cool excursions, but I need to take my daughter on a Dolphin swim if one is available and I can get over my fear of being eaten by a sea creature.

Anyone done a dolphin excursion at any of the ports? What would you suggest? Our last Western was all switched around by a storm and my daughter was 10 months, so we didn't do much of anything.

I don't think that fear ever really goes away. If you can't find any info on the Dis about the different dolphin swims, check on cruise critic. They seem to have a lot of port information:)

Costa Maya is really going to be the only "iffy" one as far as time goes.
There are a ton of shops, bars and restaurants at the port, and a huge swimming pool, with one area as a swim-up bar.
I think the best thing would probably be to just hang at the port, or take a taxi into Mahajual.
The last two times that we were there, we made private arrangements (might have used Shore Trips) to go to two different resorts. We liked both of them. Beach, lunch, snorkel boat...and some people went out on a dive boat. It isn't a long (taxi) drive to get to these places, but I'm not 100% sure I want to risk it.
But...on the other hand.....some of us were ready to leave to go back to port and shop right after our lunch, so the resort owner called us some taxi's.....and they came almost instantly. It probably won't be a problem to do this in 4 hours.

The taxi's in Costa Maya are VERY small....and they drive like maniacs. But they know the roads, and we didn't see any accidents. I think only 3 people fit comfortably in the taxi's....4 if you have kids.

A couple of times in Cozumel, we've booked snorkel boat excursions through Shore Trips and had no problems at all. Much smaller groups than through DCL.

DCL's Cozumel Beach Break is a good one, especially if you have kids.
And their Fury Catamaran is a good one, also.

Our excursions are always centered on snorkeling, so I can't speak for the zip-lines, dune buggys, etc.

Okay folks, help me out here. What info do I need for this FE thing?

Screen Name
Cabin Number
Number of people in family

Do I need:

Ages of Kids
Allergies
Names of family

Anything else that I am forgetting? Discuss. :)

I've managed the FE's before, and I think it's necessary to have the kids' ages....and I like to have names, but that's not 100% necessary.

I've never thought about allergies, but that's a good idea!

It's good to have the ages, so that any little gifts will be age-appropriate.

I agree that you need kids' ages. But you also need their gender.

Is that Alex a boy or a girl??? What about that Cameron???

Good morning fellow cruisers. Another week has gone by.
We now have only

tharg-3-50-trans.gif

weeks to go to the Fantasy. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hey all! :yay: Haven't been on in a while, but now that school is out I should be on a bit more. Bummed about Costa Maya time too, but maybe it will change.

we are wondering would the Pirate Encounter at Grand Caymen be more for children or would adults have fun too or shoud we keep looking ... At cozumel does any one know about the Dune Buggy and Beach Snorkeling, or the Off Road Adventure with the x-rail car to jade Caverns.
