June 23rd 2012 - Commandeering the Disney Fantasy - Pirates back in the Caribbean

Hi to all!
Back from the Wonder's Cruise to Nowhere and happy to say we had a blast going nowhere! We also booked 6 cabins for this cruise - 2 5B verandah's and 4 11a inside cabins thanks to Tai and Des :) Our friends also booked a verandah. Looks like we will be 15 adults and 4 kids this time.
I know I'll never be able to keep up on here, but will do my best trying!

Hey there you are, 4fosterkids, wondering when you were going to pop in. So glad you nudged me into booking the Fantasy cruise. Can not wait. The number booked in our group keeps growing! yikes. It may be time for 2 tables at dinner. :lmao:

Looks like we are a gonna be joining all ya pirates!!!!! It will be myself, my roomie (Misti) and the 2 grandchildren Dominique will be turning 12 on the cruise and Faith will have turned 5. Have done many Disney cruises now and we are doing a back to back with this one. Staying on afterwards to do the Eastern. Our last cruise was the Wonder NYE cruise (eastern) and had a blast. Getting ready to move to Alaska for the next 2 years, so will be more than ready for the warm tropical breezes of the Carib.

Speaking as the father of a DD who will be 15 on the cruise, don't even think about getting him near her! :scared::scared: ;);)

Our problem is girls going after him..... He is extra respectful of females. :goodvibes
He won't even be friends with boys that talk disrespectful about girls.

I'm sure that works great, but first I need to get over the fact that she's not my little 8 year old.:sad1:;);)

Don't I know that feeling!!!

As the mother of a DD who will be 13 on the cruise and will be hanging out with your DD, I think we better be worried! ;)

LOL!

Just had a moment to catch up on the postings while I was cruising to Nowhere. But can't spend much time responding because now it's past my bedtime. :rotfl:

Hi Pete. Glad to see you'll be sailing with us. Count me in for rugby again.

disfrog - was that you chatting with Jill in Overlook while I was in the corner "reading" (aka napping?) - wish I would have known, I would have introduced myself - side note that Overlook Cafe is my new favorite spot on the ship, will have to check out the Dream info and see if there is something similar.

For all those parents worried about their teens, just remind them that they will have family all over the ship. DS was in shock on the TA when the first night at dinner I had several people mention to me (in front of him) that they saw him getting into the elevator, walking by the pool, etc. He realized he couldn't go anywhere without someone spying on him. :cool2: It got so that our servers were even ratting him out. He couldn't get away with much. LOL. Unfortunately most of the feedback I got was, yeah, I saw him, he had 3 girls trailing after him. (Wasn't so bad once I ensured that he was at least holding the doors open for the girls)

Oh, and DS just asked me tonight if there was going to be a kid's thread again. He didn't get to participate last time because I could not get anyone at DIS (and believe me I sent numerous messages) to approve his profile because he was under 13.

Darn, just dawned on me that I never actually admitted that I'd book this cruise. He just saw me posting on the FB page and asked why it said Pirates Return to the Caribbean. I was not going to tell him and just said something about Todd booking it and may others will also.

But I think he just outsmarted me by asking about the kid's thread. I really gotta go to bed now.

Kylie wants to hang with them too :) We were just going through pictures from the last cruise, and found these from tropical night......

awww cutiepatooties! :)

That stinks. It gives you a good reason to try and go back though.
Well...... we have DL before our upcoming cruises April/may then Dream this summer and then Fantasy (pirates plus cruise before that) -which means WDW again.... looks like unless I throw in a driving trip to DL in there somewhere we might not get back to DL until 2013, if then. LOL Sometimes I wish I lived closer......... LOL

I don't get it?

( silent grinnin' )

Seriously, I'm sooooo confused???
It's code for "I *heart* Crash" Let's just go with that. :lmao:

Gee... you guys are SO QUICK with the replies tonite???!!! While I was still EDITING that posting you replied? And I went back to look for where I got it - and I can't (easily) find where I got it? There were several images and I think there were also variants for Dreams and Fantasy in up to 1600x n size. Obviously, the 1600 was too big so I quickly dismissed looking at it/or using it.

And yes - OUR family had a good time. We had a total of 14 families / cabins in our group - however - we discovered that our chatting about the cruise gave rise to TWO other cruise groups from friends or folks Alicia (my spouse) works with!!! So - technically, we counted 40+ cabins sold as a result of our chatting it up!!! Crazy.

And regretfully, I suspect DCL stripped some of thier experienced staff for the new ship(s) and new GREEN crew must have been aboard the Wonder. Some of our party were left waiting supposedly 90 minutes to be served lunch. They were the 2nd party in the door - a party of 18 spread over a few tables - and it seems the vast majority of the dining room waitied about 90 minutes for thier main entree? I thought the claim UNBELIEVABLE - until I spoke to the dining manager in our dinner venue - Parrot C. She admitted she was dining manager in Tritons that same day for lunch - and that they had very slow delivery of main entrees for all three venues that lunch hour! It was litterially a technical service melt-down?!!! And she added it was not her (or her dining staffs') fault. We shared a somber moment then she cordially trotted off. She knew I was a repeat enthusiast of unusual enthusiasm from our prior conversations -

Aside from that - we played the "How Well Do you Know Your Spouse" game - and we WON! I earned a bottle of champaigne and 2 passes for the spa. I'm not so much a spa type so I had Alicia go with one of her girlfriends. In the spa they ran into several other friends and they litterally had a long enjoyable time "talkin' story" as they say among Hawaiians....

I won't TELL you about some of my "revealing" responses to those "spicey" game questions... as I'll leave it to other DIS friends to share and GLOAT over... and yeah ... it was mildly embarassing....

Oh man, not thrilled with that report about Wonder- considering we're cruising on her in a couple of months with inside rooms this time- not concierge... which means we MUST eat in the dining room whether we like it or not.

And oh man, I wish you'd been chosen on our cruise instead! That was probably awesome! Congrats!

I had to share this image - I was looking for a particular image to go with something else when I stumbled across this - and it just left me with a nice warm DCL vacation sensation... this may seem wierd but ... here it is...

holidays-in-april.jpg

Aww it doesn't seem weird at all. I totally get it. :)

Make sure he distracts the girls from my son! PLEASE!Samantha has already told him that at 14 he will NOT be allowed to be kissing girls on the cruise! :scared1:
As it is I've had to tell a couple of *older* girls to get away from him. EEECCKKK
eek! kissing girls on the cruise! He would never. :)

I'm sure that works great, but first I need to get over the fact that she's not my little 8 year old.:sad1:;);)
I understand. I'm still trying to get over that same fact- with my dd that turned 17 last Saturday. sigh..........

I know too well how time is flying - our kids growing up - and I am beginning to hear about the "antics" of some other girls regarding "boys" and... "girls bullying other girls". Thankfully, those oberservations and comments do NOT include or pertain to my girls - being only 6 and 9... however I see both of them sharing remarks on THIER observations of such with me. I remind them of what I presaently feel is a wise course of action to deal with or defeat such issues as they may be.

I find in recent months/weeks that I am feeling a bit in the dark. I know boys like girls and vice versa - and it appears earlier in girls then boys apparantly. However - having been the type when I was younger, who felt girls were strange but otherwise JUST like boys who didn't play some of the same sports we did - and thus were otherwise just simply PEOPLE in a different "cliq" with mostly longer hair... that kind of attitude left me dating fairly late I suspect. And I had girls showing "interest" in ME where I was quite litterially "clueless". It led to some embarassing moments for either myself or the young lady stalking me. So - my personal history and .... my obvious INNOCENCE leaves me at a bit of a loss.

SO - I watch and listen - and I am beginning to actively ASK questions on this subject as I want to be (kind of) prepared long before it becomes the donimant issue between us parents and our daughters.

THANK YOU again to all with remarks and advice. Boys Riding in Cars with Girls... I wil have to rent it and check for what constructive messages prevail there-in.

And for anyone else seeking guidance in these matters - I offer affordable consulting sessions featuring the discussions modeled after the "Blind leading the Blind" concept!

How you described yourself with girls is how our eldest DD has mostly been with boys. She was a total tomboy and apparently came across as flirting at times when she totally didn't mean it that way!
Unfortunately slightly different than how you describe is that once she started getting attention from boys she decided she liked that attention. :confused3 Can't put her in a bubble though I guess. Might be illegal. doesn't mean I haven't thought about it for a second a time or two though. LOL

Welcome aboard!!!
When are you moving to Alaska? we'll be at your new "home" in a couple of months (for cruise, not moving there... just to clarify LOL)

Very true.
Eldest dd learned that rather quickly on the PC cruise. I'm gonna have to remind her how many "children of my friends" are gonna be on this cruise as well.... I'll have eyes all over. (Please do report to me untoward behavior of any sort, from any of my children. I DO want to know... srsly. for real)

Oh, and DS just asked me tonight if there was going to be a kid's thread again. He didn't get to participate last time because I could not get anyone at DIS (and believe me I sent numerous messages) to approve his profile because he was under 13.

aha~! You're so busted! He ain't no dummy! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

(ps reminder to self. If you quote Crash more than one post, you'll have to delete some images or the post won't go thru. LOL)

Getting ready to move to Alaska for the next 2 years, so will be more than ready for the warm tropical breezes of the Carib.

Where are you going? I lived in Kodiak for 2 years and Eagle River for 3.

Just a note, we seem to have gotten the *Last* Cat 10 cabin for our cruise. I'm hoping the "Porthole" is as cool as it sounds...

Anyone planning to do the Castaway Cay 5K?

I am a somewhat new runner (since last year), but I am planning to do the Princess 1/2 Marathon in 2012 with some girlfriends, so I was thinking that I might do the Castaway Cay 5K as well. I suppose it will depend on how many of those 'Drinks of the Day' I have in the week leading up to it! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We're also booked Cat 5A....

Our cast:
Me, Jill
DH, Chuck
DD, Caroline who will be 8 by this sailing
DS, Garrett who will be 5 by this sailing

Darren....I am struggling with this as well. My baby girl will be 12 on the cruise. It all went too fast.

Coral....sounds like my kids. Drew is in his HS Marching band, and that is really his "thing". Kylie, also not interested in boys at all, loves sports. She plays club soccer, travel basketball and softball. She is trying to work field hockey in there, but it conflicts with soccer season too much.

Kylie and Miranda will have to kick the ole soccer ball around. I am sure Miranda's coach is not too happy that we are taking her on vacation before the qualifying tournament but she can still run on the ship.
She is 11 but their new coach is a former professional player whose full time job is coaching soccer and he is pretty intense.

Megan will gladly leave that flute on dry land. :lmao:

Welcome!!! Sounds like you have a great adventure in front of you.

GOOD AFTERNOON ALL!

In a general way, but I'm not up on all the rules. I'm pretty good at learning these things and as a general rule I watch the officials in sporting events as much, if not more than, the actual athletes (wife says I'm odd that way). So, I should be good by next year. Still, hopefully I can play this time. That'd be my first choice.

That would be great, even better if you can play. Last time we had gentleman from the UK ref. He did a splendid job!

Hi Pete! Up to a Yankee game mini-meet this summer?

We went to the new stadium this past summer. Very nice. Another yankee stadium mini meet sounds tempting.

Oooohhh. I missed this last time. Can I play? I have no clue how to, but I'm willing. I did play soccer in HS, does that help?

We'll sign you up. This is co-ed.

We're in...and I have a giant Mens XL blue shirt that I've been sleeping in for the last 2+ years!

We'll add you to the list. You guys are vets. I think we should get a new set of jerseys.

Hi Pete. Glad to see you'll be sailing with us. Count me in for rugby again.

Hi Monica! Sounds good. Signing you up. Were you blue or orange?

We just have to lure Tom and Crash in again.
