June 23, 2014 Wonder to Alaska

Julie We cruised the Med on the June 8th sailing. Oh the memories! We still want to do that again with the Venice itinerary!

I am in for a fish extender. It does sound like fun and I think the boys would love to see all of the goodies that are left at our door.

I am a planner and have been looking into excursions for quite some time now. We are definitely doing a helicopter with glacier landing in Juneau (crossing fingers for no fog!). My husband and I did this when we went to Alaska before kids and it was one of the most breathtaking experiences I have ever had. I cannot wait to see my boys and my mom's reaction! If I wasn't doing that excursion, I would definitely do a whale watching excursion on a private (non-Disney) boat. They sound wonderful. But, since we are planning to do whale watching in Seattle, we are not going to go in Juneau. In Skagway, we are planning to rent a car and drive into the Yukon. I have read such great reviews about doing this. And to be honest, I am worried that my boys will be bored stiff on the train ride. Our other option was to book an excursion with Beyond Skagway ($120/hr) or Chilkoot Charters ($229/person). In Ketchikan, we are either going to do the Misty Fjords Flightseeing with Island Wings (which was rained out on our previous trip to Alaksa) or the Bering Sea crab fisherman tour. I think the boys would love the crab fisherman tour, so leaning toward that one.

I don't think you will regret booking an excursion. It is fun to walk around the little towns too! I wouldn't plan on sleeping in and relaxing on the boat on days when we are in port. Alaska is sooo beautiful, plus with 3 days at sea, there is plenty of time to relax then!

All of this typing has be so excited! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi We are also traveling on the 6/23/14 Alaska Cruise.

This will be our second cruise. We went last Feb on the Disney Magic out of Galviston, had a great time. There are 4 of us traveling from Buffalo NY. DH of 15 years, DD 11 and DD 9. We have 4 family members coming from Sharon MA and also 3 friends from Texas.

Cant Wait.

We would be interested in the fish extender club too.

Tina--

I grew up outside of Buffalo, in Orchard Park! Let's go Bills! :cheer2: We currently live in Pittsburgh, but my brother still lives in Boston, NY. I really do miss Buffalo and love going back to visit.

Welcome to the board!

Tina

years. I worked in Orchard Park! Small world.

Hello all. I'm pleased to announce that we'll be joining everyone on our first Alaskan cruise, (our 6th Disney cruise overall). It will be me, DW Amanda and DS Nate (celebrating his 15th B-day aboard this cruise).

We're used to Disney cruises in the Caribbean in the spring, so this will be quite different. We'll miss Castaway Cay, but look forward to meeting new people and seeing new things in Alaska, which everyone tells me is absolutely beautiful.

I'm going to tentatively say that we're up for Fish Extender gift exchange.

Take care,
Tim

My daughters and I are so excited to be on this cruise. We were supposed to go last year but my daughter got her service dog and that took precedence.
We would love to join the FE group and I'm happy to help put it together as well. Please let me know.
Monica, Katelyn & Emily

I see that there is a few people who are interested so far in the Fish Extender Giveaway while on board. I am putting together a file that I will make available to everyone. I am tentatively going to close it once it reaches 30 families or by May 5, 2014. If you would like to join in, please send an email to cbennett724@comcast.net with your cabin #, screen name, how many people in your cabin, names of all in your cabin, male or female, and if your celebrating any special. Please put in subject line - FE Gift Exchange - Wonder.

Thank you

Hello fellow cruisers!!

I wanted to let you all know that Southwest airlines has extended their on sale dates today through June 30. I didn't know who might be heading to Seattle first. We are planning on doing that, touring for a few days, then taking the train to Vancouver. The prices are a bit more steep than I had anticipated, but will buy and watch for a price drop.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!! After Christmas, it is back to the planning...

Tina

Vancouver before the trip where are you staying?

Julie-

I just (literally 30 minutes ago) booked the Residence Inn Vancouver. We used my husbands Marriott points. I looked at Pan Pacific, but just couldn't justify it with all of the excursions $$$. The price for the RI cash is $220 Canadian. Still > 1/2 the price of the Pan.

Are you doing any sightseeing before the trip in Vancouver?

I haven't planned anything yet, but I would like to do something. We arrive on the Amtrak to Vancouver around noon. So, by the time we get checked in and settled in, it should only be about 2pm or so. I will have to look and see what is good for kids in Vancouver and go from there.

Have you had a chance to plan anything?

All of this planning and talk makes me so excited! We also booked our Seattle hotels this morning. So fun!

A little overwelmed with trying to book/plan excursions. There is so much to do and see.

I heard about the DISboard & the Fish Extenders from someone at work. Pretty cool! My husband & I, our2 kids (5 &7) along with my mother and law & her sister are excited for our first Disney Cruise. Any insider tips would be greatly appreciated:)

It can be a bit overwelming. I am gathering information too. this will be our
6th Disney Cruise, but our first to go to Alaska and first on the Wonder.
Are you arriving early to Vancouver?
Julie

I feel like I am getting closer to vacation. How many people are flying in ahead of time to Vancouver? We will be getting there on Saturday and hopefully we can do some sightseeing on Sunday before the cruise.
What are people planning to do in the different ports?
Anyone going to do the whale watching in Juneau?
Bering deadliest catch?

So much planning to do for this. Wondering if anybody is coordinating FE list yet or would you like me to do that? It's so much fun and we've loved doing it on our previous cruises.
5 1/2 months to go!
