Corrected! I am ready to hear May cruise reports too. When is the first one? I want to read all of them so we can read about the port and all of that as well.[/QUOTE]

The first NY-Bahamas cruise is leaving on may 25.

All aboard is 4 pm, so I'm guessing we set sail at 5. I hope there's enough time between sail away and first dinner seating to see us sail under the Verrazano Narrows bridge and past the Statue of Liberty.

We need to set a FE deadline so that everyone can finish their gifts? Anyone have a preference?

My thoughts are about a month to six weeks....which is coming up soon.....

Coming from NYC, I kind of find it hard to believe all Disney's flights will be on time, which might affect it. (I've been on cruises from Port Canaveral that didn't sail away for 4 hours until after the planned time.)

We've also seen huge lines on the first night at the restaurants, so we suspect if we show up a few minutes late it won't be a big deal.

Greetings! I'm so excited for our cruise! We live in Virginia and usually drive to PC for our cruises (this will be our 5th Disney Cruise). I'm excited about the easy trip for this one! Cruising will be my DH and I along with our boys who will be 9 and 7 at the time of this cruise. I can't wait!

I would be good with either one,

I wonder if Disney is considering the traffic their airport transfers will hit getting from the airport into the city!

Ok....We'll set the deadline for FE Participation Signups as May 22 then if everyone's ok with that!

So....who all has kiddos in the 11/12 year old range that qualify for the lab and edge....and which are you choosing? Anyone?

We are still struggling with this decision.....

My daughter will be 11 (2 months shy of 12), going into the 7th grade. She'd like a lot of the freedom that the Edge offers, but she still likes "activities" that will be in the Lab.....

We recently watched a cruise special on TV which talked about ships going out of NY Harbor. One thing they mentioned is the Cruise Lines have to stick to their departure time, to keep with the tides. There is not much wiggle room between the tops of most ships and the Verazzano Bridge, (I think 10-20 ft clearance?) and if they don't get out before high tide, they are stuck in port till it goes out again!

That's interesting. It makes me want to apy attention when we go under that bridge.....

A month is fine for me !

Since we're newbies, can you explain the difference between the Lab and the Edge? My oldest just turned 11 and my youngest is 8.

Note: A couple of weeks ago I tried to commute up the West Side Highway on a Friday at 5pm. It was a total parking lot! It took me an extra hour to get off Manhattan.
