June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Just got a message from DCL that the Monaco, Monte Carlo & Eze excursion in Villefranche has been cancelled due to complications from the royal wedding that will be taking place in Monaco the day we are there. Apparently some of the routes the excursion needs to take will be blocked. I was looking forward to this excursion, but I think now we will try doing the port on our own. I really want to go to Eze.

Hmmmm.... I didn't get the same note... will check. Which tour did you book?

We are booked on the Selinunte & Marinella excursion.

We were booked on this one but ended up cancelling due to the shortened hours. It seemed like there would be more time on the bus than anything else!! But we are torn as we would love to see Selinunte. Do you have information on how they are restructuring the tour with the new earlier departure time?????

I vote for keeping one big group, although I'd be happy to split it if that's what everyone else wanted to do.

I know we said one gift for the cabin and smaller ones for the kids, but honestly I found a bunch of smaller stuff that fits my theme better so I think everyone should just feel free to get what they want: one larger, lots of small, mix it up, etc. The point is to have fun with it.

So the cutoff is today and we're at 19 cabins? Works for me!

My only complaint is that I will have a suitcase just with FE stuff!LOL

Money. Does anyone know if there is enough to do if you just get off the ship? We are spending so much money on the other ports, we had to go lean somewhere. Any suggestion are appreciated

Polls have closed in the FE elections

The results of the "June 18th , 11 night Mediterranean Cruise Fish Extenders" are as follows

8 #All Staterooms
2 #to split Staterooms

Ok the last cruise I was on people booking late wanted to join the FE ,
How does anyone feel about this ?

Do we just say No , we are past the cut off date
or
Do we say Yes , but let them know quite a lot of us are only covering the 20 Staterooms that we have signed up too , but if they want to join in its fine as some of us might have a few extra gifts

I noticed on another thread that if anyone wanted to join late, they were told that they could as long as people had extras- otherwise, if enough latecomers joined, they could start their own group.

I just discovered a packing list on a med trip report- done by a VERY organized person. I don't know that I will pack all of the same stuff, but it is very handy- especially the section for all of the stuff you need to remember to do before leaving home. I love a list that I can check off so I don't forget anything. Try not to feel a little overwhelmed like I did when reading it!

Re latecomers, I'm fine with something like this, but I won't have extras. I think we need to make sure that the original list is kept separate with an "add on" list, if we don't just say no. I don't want to get confused. :)

Thanks, JNS, my info looks good. Regarding the GTY, I've been reading on other threads that quite a few people with restricted GTY (like me) aren't getting their staterooms until 10-12 days out. Some haven't gotten them until the port. :(

Thanks for the link.

I agree, especially since we voted to keep one large group. I'd say that anyone wanting to join (I can't imagine there will be a lot), can start their own group with a separate list. Not to be stingy or anything!

I say let people join late if they want with the understanding that they may not get something from everyone

Our updated information: Thomas (42), Jana (21...ha, ha) Helena (11) Bradley (10). Charleston SC VGTF (not assigned yet)

Does anyone know: If you have an onboard credit, can you use that towards your gratuities?

What is the deal with Monaco, Eze? Can you still do it if you do it on your own? I thought the royal wedding was in July....

Can magical Disney turn the royal wedding into an excursion?!:dance3::dance3:

I agree- good idea.

JNS- the kids are- son (10) Spence, daughter (5) Annabelle, son (1) William, nanny (19) Paige. Thanks for organizing!

Don't worry the latecomers will not be put on our list , will make an "Add on" one for them
it was just a really big issue on the last cruise thread, so through it is better to get it sorted now incase it comes up later

Thanks for the info
still waiting for a few others ,
There is 20 staterooms joining our FE

We ended up switching to the Nice & Eze with Wine & Cheese. I really wanted to see Eze.

Eze is awesome - the wine and cheese part stinks. There are several little bars (including the shop for that stop) where you can have something really remarkable. The shop is directly across from the wine tasting dungeon which is really cool for about 5 minutes. Then you'll realize that you are in a small room without enough seating with only 1 person serving all the wine (people pitch in but it just doesn't work). Do the tour, skip the tasting and wait for the group at the shop right next to it....i know crazy - but crazy like a fox.

For those of you with tight schedules be careful about the volcano trouble.... last time schedules were way off....

I checked on the DCL website and saw that the price has gone up significantly (at least for Category 11s). Is there any way to tell how full our ship might be? I can see that here are no verandahs left, but not sure how to tell on the other categories. It would be nice if the ship wasn't totally full.
