June 16, 2014 Wonder to Alaska

I'm still curious if there's gonna be a meet-up?

I got rid of my FB so idk what's going on with that page.
I'm still trying to plan excursions--considering one of the zip-line ones (never done it always wanted to)...wondering if they allow cameras whilst zipping..?

I know one is in the works but I don't think anything definite has been set at this point.

Curious if we have a close date on the FE exchange?

Good morning! I just found this thread and am excited to add my family of 4 to the cruise! This will be a celebration for my DD's graduation from high school. I have not yet read all of the comments, but is there a Facebook page or roll call? Thanks!

Also, we do want to do the FE , so any info as to where we can send our info for this is greatly appreciated!

Welcome Aboard! Page 1 will give you the link to the Facebook page and also the Google Doc to add yourself to the roll call/FE list.

I don't believe anything has been finalized on a meet-up, but think most agreed to Promenade Lounge, Deck 3 Aft, on embarkation day.

No idea on the zip lines, but would think it would be okay. Maybe require something that straps around the neck? I'm signed up for one in St. Marteen for spring break but it doesn't say anything even in the fine print about a camera.

My dd is 17 and will have just finished her junior year of high school. What sort of things is your daughter into? Mine likes music, drawing and is really into anime and manga.

Kat,

Thanks so much for commenting. My daughter likes music, reading, playing sports and socializing. She's fairly outgoing and loves meeting all sorts of people. She, too, is 17. Maybe we can introduce them once we board? ~Stacey

We can try. Sam is off and on about reading and doesn't play sports. She is into all kinds of music, though. I tried to start a facebook group for the teens so they could maybe get to know one another but that didn't seem to fly so I deleted it. Sam wasn't at all impressed by me trying to step in, LOL.

Though I have been on 17 DCL cruises, I have never been on an Alaska cruise and I now need help.:rolleyes1

Can someone give me their recommendations of good excursions at each port, that do not include planes and helicopters and don't cost a whole lot. Looking for something fun, but not extravagant. Would like to see interesting things in the area. I know that's asking a lot, but there are so many excursions to look at!

Our first Alaska cruise too so I can't really recommend anything but I can tell you what we are planning.

Skagway - White Pass Summit Rail/Bus with Chilkoot Tours
Juneau - Whale Watching with Harv & Marv
Ketchikan - part of our group are doing the Disney Exclusive Bering Sea Crab Fishing with Dinner and the other part are going on the Kart Adventure. All of these are through DCL.

Welcome to all the new cruisers!!:welcome:

We are in! PIF'ed and good to go.

Our party consists of
Me
DW
DS (9)

We booked while on the Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in December and now I just need to book the flights. We plan on flying into Seattle a couple days early and taking the Amtrak to Vancouver. It should be awesome. We live in Tampa so the climate in Alaska in June should be a welcome relief. DW and I will be celebrating our anniversary on board (our 24th) as well. Can't wait until March 18th to book Palo brunch and dinner and excursions. I'm so excited already.:cool1:

My DD and her husband will celebrate their anniversary on board too. It will be their first! Also, my youngest DD will move to St. Petersburg to attend college in August. Coming from Iowa(especially after this winter) she is looking forward to the weather in FL for a while.

We are celebrating my DD's graduation from high school too. She will turn 18 this month and enjoys music, dancing, and socializing. She loves to meet people to hang out with on the cruises. She is in a different spot this cruise as she will be able to go into the adult areas and not the teen club, but she still enjoys meeting other teens that she can just hang out with.

Hi!
Sounds like our daughters have much in common. Gabrielle does go to the teen club, but usually just long enough to meet folks to hang out with. Not yet sure where she will attend college. We're waiting for final scholarship offers from USC (South Carolina) and UGA. She loves meeting people and I'm sure they'll have a lot to talk about!

We will definitely have to get them together - hopefully at the meet and greet or sometime after we board. Alyssa has always enjoyed the teen club so this we be a new experience for her with not having a place to go to meet other teens. She will try the "Club 18-21" and see how that goes, but mainly she just likes to have people to hang out with.

The college process is always a difficult one. Alyssa was also accepted into UNC-Wilmington and College of Charleston but decided to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. She wants to study Marine Biology - hence the trip to Alaska hopefully to see killer whales.

We were looking for pretty much the same sort of things. We are doing The Duck tours in Ketchikan which will then give us plenty of time to explore the town, etc on our own afterwards. In Juneau we are doing the Juneau City and Mendenhall Glacier tour.

Family of four, mom dad and two girls ages 6 and 14. 100 days until we set sail. Looking to be a part of the fish extender club! Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.
