June 16, 2014 Wonder to Alaska

Sounds like a great plan to me!!! Let me know when you have it booked!:thumbsup2

I see on your signature line that your daughter is having a FairyTale Wedding. My husband and I did too! It was beyond awesome! The best thing about it...It was by far the prettiest wedding I ever went to and...IT WAS MINE!!!

Hello everyone!!! First time on here.

Just booked our cruise to Alaska yesterday morning. We're so excited. We took the quick 3 day to the Bahamas last month on the Dream and absolutely loved it. It'll be me(37 at time of sailing), my boyfriend( turning 39 on 6/21), my DS(17), DD(14), my boyfriends DD(12) and DS(10). Only 479 more days :cool1::sad:

I just stumbled across an explanation of the fish extender. I WONDERed how people got them and their purpose on our cruise last month. Excited to be a part of it on this next cruise. Anyone on here have any comments regarding them? Do a lot of people participate? Thanks.

Excited to be a member on here!!!!!
:welcome:

LOL If I booked I will be broke"ed"!:lmao: I wonder if anyone has done a triple before? This will be our 2nd B2B. We are so silly about it. On the last morning of the first cruise, we pout around that the cruise is over. We walk around pretending to be depressed...we check off the ship...sad...then we run to the check-in smiling and because we were on the other one, we get ushered right back on the ship through a different door. We do not have to stay off at all. They ask you either stay in your room or only in common areas (not the SR halls) You should see the cleaning production that goes on between cruises!!! It's sure something to see. You can't even walk through the halls as all sheets, comforters etc are thrown out there. Then the marathon vacuuming that goes on in all the other carpeted areas. It's beyond crazy!pixiedust:
:rotfl: and how cool!

I hear ya!! We have done some longer cruises (one 10-night, and two 11-night) but haven't done a B2B yet. I really like the longer cruises. It seems sad to say that even a 7-night is not long enough but I love the extra sea days. I can't complain too much cause at least we are on a 7-night and not something shorter. Keep the ship tidy for us and have fun on your B2B.

I saw that in your signature and was going to say something but forgot. Yeah we are pretty excited about the wedding. They have a great Disney story and it has been a lot of fun planning all the details.

The FE is lots of fun. We always do it. It is called the FE because it hangs from the fish mail holder by your SR door. Some rooms on the Dream and Fantasy have starfish, but still an FE. there is a Facebook page all about FE. You have to request access to the page, as it is private. You will learn so much about it there. I can answer your questions too. I bought mine from a lady on eBay named GradysMom. I would need to help track here down, as I heard she is selling from a different site now. She hand makes them to your exact wishes. She does incredible work. Don't miss doing it. Lots of fun!

Hey, Thanks for the info. I found GradysMom on Etsy. I'm really excited about getting our FE and being a part of the exchange. I also asked to join the group on Facebook. :thanks:

Howdy from Texas!!!

Pigletsmomma, Pigletsantknee and Brittani checking in! We booked this wonderful cruise on Platinum Day 1...just finding my way to this thread...been too busy researching Alaska!:thumbsup2

We are about to go on a B2B on 3/2 and 3/9 - Fantasy. Can't wait to get to know you guys! :moped:

Howdy!! Welcome :) Lol - I know, I've already spent hours researching excursions, hotels, flights, etc! I say it doesn't hurt to be prepared and then budget accordingly! How awesome to be doing a B2B, especially on the Fantasy and it's right around the corner! :cool1:

Welcome!!! WOW - to go from the 3 night Dream to Alaska next year, right? That's awesome and glad you had a great time. We booked our first 4 night Dream sailing 14 mos out and counted down every day. Then after our cruise, like you and many others, we fell in love and not even a month later we were booking a *GT rate and sailed 2 months after getting off the first cruise. It was fun to compare one that was 14 months out compared to the one we had 30 days to countdown. 2 cruises in 2 months - fun!! Then I told my Mom about how awesome it was and lo and behold they offered military rates (she is retired military spouse) and I took her on the Fantasy in December - my treat! OMG - 3 cruises now in 6 months!! :rotfl: So, it's really hard having to wait it out until 2014, however we are doing 2 "big" family cruises with Alaska being one of them. I *might* do a 4 night Dream cruise with a BFF if they offer good rates in the next few months. ;)

By the way - I noticed there are several kids around DS (will be 10) on the sailing and that's pretty cool. Since he is an only child he is usually with us the majority of the time (and we love that) but I know he likes "kid time" too! :drive:

:rainbow: WELCOME!!!! :rainbow:

It's good to have you! Our group is coming together! It's nice to be able to get to know each other for well over a year before we cruise. This way, we'll all feel like old friends on the ship! Looks like we'll be neighbors almost. We are also on deck 2.

Thanks. Yes, going from the 3 day Dream cruise to the Alaskan. 16 months seems FOREVER away. It is nice to have time to plan, research and hopefully get good deals on air and hotels.

That's awesome you're able to cruise so often. I wish we had that ability. I gotta feeling since we have taken our first and are hooked, our vacations for awhile are already planned. Just have to decide where to go.

If you get another cruise in before next June, remember us on here that are jealous!! :)

I'm glad I found this. Didn't know about this website when we booked/cruised last month. I now have someone to share my excitement with over the next year. We are keeping it a surprise from the kids as we did last month. It's cool to see their excitement when they hear where we're going.

Good to know some of our deck neighbors already. Hope the FE list grows big by then. I am steady thinking about what to do. What are the most common things you have seen for exchange? On our last cruise, the neighbors across the hall seem to have more and more magnets on their door everyday. I wandered if the stewardess was adding them every time she cleaned the room. I know now that the "mail holder" they had classified them as being part of the FE exchange and most of the magnets probably came from that.

Can't wait to meet everyone!

DU booked this for us while standing in line at WDW and we got a secret Veranda that I wanted!:cool1:

As you can see below we just got off the 7n Fantasy western and it was great and we did the Hawaii cruise last year and now ALASKA!

Please don't tell my wife as this is a complete surprise as we will be celebrating our 10 year on the cruise. :grouphug:

We thought the Wonder was great and look forward to sailing on her again.

Secret Verandah? Which one?:confused3 I love secrets!
Is there a twin of it on the opposite side of the ship?

So if I tell you then it is no longer a secret right? LOL

There is 4 rooms on the Wonder and Magic.

6134, 6634, 7120, 7620.

These used to be cat. 5 and 6's but people complained that were not true Veranda's and were getting ripped off or screwed?

I was going to post a link that shows pictures of the verandas and where they were located on the ships, but looks like that site is not allowed and I won't break the rules.

A quick Google search and you will find it and some have posted here although looks like search is not working at this moment.

:cheer2: Welcome!!! What a great surprise for your 10th. DD and her fiance will be celebrating their 1st on this cruise. June 21st.

We will be on the Fantasy in under 3 weeks and that cruise will complete the grand slam for me. All 4 ships! I can't wait!

Out of curiosity, what is *GT rate? We booked this cruise while on a cruise for the 'future cruise discount'. Always looking for a discount on perhaps another cruise before this one. I keep checking the military rates as I'm retired Navy but haven't seen one yet for a time we can go.

Thanks

I think you are referring to a GTY rate. It is a guarantee for certain level or better for a reduced price. It cannot be cancelled once booked.

I know - it will be so hard to wait but that helps me to pay it all off ahead of time since it's a little more costly especially throwing in airfare from the East Coast! :crazy2:

Awesome! I remember when you were posting either right before you left or while on the Fantasy? Who knew you'd be in our little group here :) We also have a "secret verandah" so we are beyond excited!!! :cool1:

The *GT (IGT - inside guaranty, OGT - Oceanview guaranty, VGT - Verandah guaranty) are sometimes offered on the sailings that aren't sold out. You can see these in the bookings in red (for example there is a VGT rate on the 4/7 Dream sailing if you want to see what it looks like). It doesn't always mean it will be cheaper than other sailings, however they can be great savings. They are typically offered after the PIF dates so you might have 30-60 days at most to make your travel plans and as mentioned, they are due in full, no refunds and you don't know what cabin you'll be in.

Congrats on your military service! I'm a military brat myself - Dad is retired Air Force and so is my Step Dad so my Mom has a retired ID and our sailing last month on the Fantasy was due to the military discount she was eligible for and it was amazing to take her. :)

Giving us a little bump up as we have fallen down a couple of pages.

Laying out clothes this weekend for our cruise in 2 weeks!!! Next weekend we fly to Virginia for DD's bridal shower and bachelorette party. We will only be back in town for 4 days before we leave for spring break so need to get things organized this weekend.
