So then we might have enough people for a discount.Jasmine and I might be interested in Alaska in 2010, if 2009 doesn't work out for all of you.![]()
Back in the olden days when I was a TA, the magic number for an affinity group discount was 16 (8 double cabins). Usually one person would go free as the tour organizer, and that savings would be split among the group. However, by booking with large agencies or agencies that specialize in cruises, you are actually getting group discounts based upon the agency's production levels.
If you do get a group together, then I'd suggest appointing someone to contact a TA on your behalf, and book together. It can be a hassle for the person who's the POC, but then you can ask for special things like a private cocktail reception etc.![]()
Tell me more about this brother...Count me in for alaska..summer though, not able to go in may. Also my sister and her husband and my mom and her husband.
There's 3 rooms! Maybe I can talk my brother into going too....
Steph
I just went out with a guy who worked for GE. Interesting. You're too funny!...
As long as it's NOT on disney as my brother will probably go. He has turned me down for both disney cruises we went/are going on...
BUT....here's the lowdown...he's 30 single, owns his own home and has a great job with GE:Invision. It's their airport security division. The big guns security machines our luggage goes thru behind the scenes. He's in Canada right now working on an install. He has travelled all over the world for them..actually mostly the pacific rim and canada. He's always telling them he'd go anywhere other than the pacific rim and canada..but alas they have others.
He has friends on the Royal Carribean line, so thats a push to get him.
I would love to do one that left from SF or came into SF that'd be great. Who's gonna be the leader of this? Patricia? I'll keep my eyes out and I'll let my sister know, as she organized a group for her wedding onboard the Royal Carribean Line.
Have a good night...
Steph
Hello all!
I have a question regarding the Dec 2 staterooms.
Jasmine and I are sailing on the Magic in December, and somehow lucked out and got a SV room even though we booked after the Med cruise!
I've invited my Sis and Brother, and their families, to come along and have offered to pay for their cabins.
So even though I hate to give up our verandah, I'm now I'm looking at the different category combinations that would work for my budget. Right now I'm looking at a Cat 9 and 10 on deck 2. I've never been on that deck before and was wondering if there's a lot of noise from the restaurants and clubs on deck 3.
All inputs appreciated![]()
TIA
Wendy
Wendy,
We have stayed quite a few times on level 2. If you make sure you are not below the Rockin Bar D area you should be ok. During the 10 day Christmas cruise we were in a room that had the bar above us. It was so load that we could not sleep. We ended up complaining and they moved us to another room.
Kathy
just go up one level and the restaurants are right there!
Ok all the future 09 alaska....
I asked my sister to call her coordinator on the royal and get some info for us. Nothing set in stone, just research to see which line will give us the best deal if we decided to do it.
I'll let you know what Royal Caribbean says.

I'm interested in Alaska, however, I don't think, no, I know my DH isn't. Unless, of course, it's on a Disney Cruise! Possible?Perhaps!

Maybe one of the new ships?I was talking with Rachel, the cruise director and a couple of other CM's on the Med cruise and they said the reason Disney hasn't gone to Alaska is because the ship isn't designed to close the upper deck. In Alaska you have to dome the upper deck as it is too cold outside. So I doubt the Magic will be heading to Alaska in 09.
