We're "on our own" in sicilly. Doing a walking tour listed in my frommers book in the AM and then just chillin in the PM. Anyone is welcome to join. Looks like the walking tour covers the same info as the "tourist bus" they offer...except it's on our own and free. I'll bring the book to leilani's for all to see.

For those doing Olbia on your own . . . I've been doing a little research this afternoon, and it appears we are docking in a GREAT spot! The Costa Smeralda (rich beautiful touristy coastline) is very close. Porto Cervo is the main town, and it appears that it would be easy to catch a cab there - or maybe even rent a car. Have no idea if there is car rental near the port though. I also read on cruise critic that there is a nice beach within walking distance of the port (but no chairs or umbrellas).

Okay, I just need to blow off a little steam and I figured my DIS friends would let me vent.

I called AT&T/Cingular today to add international services to our phones and to order a new phone because a piece of mine broke off today.

A little history - when we signed up for this account back in 2004 we were able to get a monthly discount because of the hospital my DH works for. This has always been our personal account and is sent to our address and paid on our credit card.

So, after speaking to the CS rep at AT&T he preceeded to tell me I was not authorized to make changes to this account and it was now a corporate account and no longer belonged to us. WHAT!!!!! After going round and round with this guy I finally asked to speak to a supervisor who preceeded to tell me the same thing. She also told me that this account now belonged to a guy who owned a company with a similar name to the hospital DH works for, but is no way affiliated with the hospital. After contacting the guy she was told he did not know us and this account should not be on his corporate account so he wanted it reported to the fraud department and he would contact her after he got out of his meeting. She basically told me there was nothing she could do for me until this guy called her back and they talked to the fraud department.

By this time I am getting a little mad and frustrated. I was in the mall so I went to the AT&T store to see if they could help me. The wonderful lady there said she could not make any guarantees but she would call and see what she could do. She looked up our information on the computer and figured out what had happend. Apparently when they did a system conversion somehow the incorrect number got keyed in so our account changed from an individaul account with a discount to a corporate account under this other business. But we still received and paid for the bills. After going round and round again AT&T told me they could not fix the problem until they heard back from the other guy to release our account. Okay, very mad at this point because this other guy should not have anything to do with our account so why should I have to wait for him.

Well, after 41/2 hours of being on the phone, waiting at the store, or waiting at home for an answer(like I have time for this) it was finally resolved and hopefully the account is back to what it should be.

Thanks for letting me vent, I know this was long and drawn out but I just had to get it off my chest. Now I am going to write a letter to AT&T to let them know I feel about this whole situation and how I feel about them changing my account to someone else's control without my authorization.

I feel your pain. I've been with cingular/att/cingular/att...pick a name and stick with it already! for 10 years. It seems that even when you are not on a contract you are and they charge you for EVERYTHING...I am always calling to get credits for overcharges etc. The only plus has always been calling cingular to cingular free calls all day long. Most of my family and friends are also on cingular. It seems like we pay alot of money to have very little service..at least to me. So vent away...I think we all have had cell problems at least once!

On the plus side, finally got my laptop from work. Now i'll be able to blog away while on vacation.

That's unbelievable! I already hate the fact that our acct is in my husband's name and they used to give me a hard time about changes so how they could make such a huge mistake is mindboggling.

At least it's straightened out now and you get get on with your backing since you are leaving well before the rest of us!

Ok the Pixie dust worked...I got my documents today...Actually they came yesterday....the UPS guy stopped DH on the way out of the neighborhood and gave them to him....He neglected to tell me that until this morning....I could have been doing the document dance all night!!!!

That pixie dust , genie & the amazing Silvernac is a POWERFUL combination of good luck! Glad you got them! How could he not remember to give them to you! That's something my DB would do.


On another note, Disney Lover Linda & myself got our "gifts" today for the Dis exchange! Took me a long time to decide & all along it was right in our backyard!

WOW! & a OMG our cruise is next week! I don't know about you all but it's always exciting yet a little scarry to go away! But WE REALLY ARE EXCITED!!!

WOW! Lei Lani what a story! I bet you felt like it was surreal the whole time they were trying to explain this convoluted story! I agree why should you have to wait for that guy to authorize it! Keep us updated! I'm sending you out a big group hug You certainly don't need all that aggravation after your graduation parties & preparing for a big trip.
