June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Hi Karen. Welcome! We're just taking cabs from the airport to our hotel and then from the hotel to the airport. Nothing fancy.

Taysmom, OK, what time are we supposed to storm the port?? The time keeps getting earlier and earlier. I thought they weren't letting us check in until 1:00???

You guys are gonna hate me!! Got a call from the cruise line today. We were upgraded from our category 10 room (that was really a 12 guarantee) to a category 9 on the second floor. I'm embarassed to say that I almost cried I was so excited!!

Leilani, our new room # is 2122.

It's happening! It's happening! The Year of a Million Dreams is working!:wizard:

We are using Barcelona Taxi Van, http://www.barcelonataxivan.com/, to take us from the hotel to port and port to airport. Another car service some people are using is Angie's Taxi, ANGELINA GARCIA [angietaxi33@yahoo.com].

I am having the car service pick us up from the hotel at 11am to take us to the port. So, I guess we would be there around 11:30am. I hope that is not too early, not sure how the family will do with too much waiting.

I went shopping on Monday and bought a pair of Merrel sandals for my walking around shoes. I will probably wear my tennis shoes when we go to Pompeii. I still need to order my stuff from Magellans. I need to take my DD shopping. She is so picky about her clothes. I keep telling her that I can not wash clothes :laundy: every couple of days like at home so needs to find more favorite clothes to wear.

Congratulations! I wish we were that lucky!

Just saw this info on the 5/26 thread--thought it was interesting:

For those that stop somewhere else before Barcelona, it really makes customs a piece of cake. We went through immigration to the EU in Milan. It took less than 3 minutes, passport stamped and on to the domestic terminal. Once we got our luggage in Barcelona, you did pass through an area that said "Nothing to Declare" or "Declare". No paperwork - nothing. Just walk through when another plaine is arriving. They only have one or two customs agents that seem to randomly select people. We literally walked right through.

They have currency exchange at the airport. They were buying $ at $1.41 per Euro. Traveler's checks were $1.35 per Euro. They have automated machines that take currency. I tried the airport ATM but couldn't get it to work with my card. Thankfully I had US$ so I exchanged some to get a cab, etc.

Cabs are plentiful and don't worry if you have too much stuff. They will wave you to a larger vank-sized taxi. The ride is 20 Euros but another chunk of change per bag. And they count EVERY bag.

Weather was sucky when we arrived. Very overcast and smoggy. But it has now cleared up and we have beautiful blue skies. Weather is warm. Mom is in shorts. Very few people here are wearing shorts. Even those that are wearing shorts have long ones that go past their knees. Colors are definitely boring bieges, browns, blues and blacks compared to my normal Southern Florida colors.

Haven't had much language problems. My Spanish seems to be good enough to get buy. There are quite a few people that speak English - but quite a few that do not.

Storming the port....:dance3:
Ok, my check out time is 11am and we are staying close by the port, so my plan is to walk straight there and wait until they let us board. We don't really know what time that will be...but I am hoping for earlier than 1pm.
So really getting there anytime is good. I was just goofing around. Wanting others to be sooo jealous of us and beautiful shirts ;)

Since I have to check out of my hotel by 11am. I am going to go straight there. I don't want to get started walking around and then go back to my hotel to get my bags. I like to have them in my possession! Anyways..thats my controlling issue  :rolleyes1

Most people have to check out by 11...and are headed straight there. You know it'd be really great if disney would let us check in and take our bags! So we could leave. I think businesses just want to have a line going!

21 days....holy cow!

Quick post in between all the running around for graduation and open house this weekend.

Jeff - I don't have an exact time yet, but I was thinking around 1 or 2pm that way people still have a chance to get ready for dinner. I am trying to wait for the first 11 day cruise to see if anyone posts navigators so I can see what is going on that day and try to plan around it. I will let you know as soon as I can.

jmcdonnell(John), pillow(Jodie), & KMitchel(karen) - I have taken down your information and I will update the list.

Have a great evening and I will try to check in again when I can.

Hi Everyone,

I just came home with 2 skirts & flat shoes. All done shopping for me.

Is anyone going to bring a converter for the hotel? I think I need it for London, so I can charge my cell at the end of the trip. Anyone know where I can buy?

Someone told me about a wrist band for motion sickenss. Anyone have any experiences with it?

Lisatex, how was your wedding last weekend. I felt so bad for you, we had crappy weather all weekend. Monday thru today has been Sunny in the 70's

Welcome Karen!!!! We are taking Angie's taxi to the port from out hotel.

Pillow, congrat's on your upgrade. I think you are near the Laundry room. (which reminds me to bring quaters) I am on the other side. I love deck 2. Great location to come & go when we leave & enter the boat. No need to take the elevators. :thumbsup2

Silver how did suit shopping go??? Only 3 more Wednesdays left :woohoo:

Can you tell I am overly excited.

Have a good night everyone.

Patricia

I posted our tours and which ones my son will be on. We will also be arriving in DLP on the 12th to spend a few days in Paris if anyone is going before the cruise.

I keep hearing abou the repo cruise leaving little presents for other DISers that have a magnet on their door. Can someone fill me in on the details? I would love to participate!

Karen

WELCOME!!!!

Is anyone else getting really excited for Pirates of the Caribbean to come out? Last night my friends and I watched the first movie, tonight we're watching the second one and then tomorrow at midnight we're going to the premiere of At World's End. My sister made a city-wide (watch out, John) pirate scavenger hunt that ends at the theatre and we're all dressing as pirates. Guess it'll be a dry run for the pirate night onboard!! :cool1:

Hey Pat

Went smooth as silk--MUCH easier than I anticipated.

PJ--What a fun idea--good luck Matey!

Hi! I just tried to pm you and I don't think it went through. It seems I am too new to posting to do that. Anyway, I was just trying to send you info for the freewebs site. Let me know if you got my update. If not, I will just post it here. Can't wait to get those docs!:yay:
Vicki

Hi Vicki

I did not get the info. I just need room number, who is in the room, early oir late dining, which Disney cruise number it is, where you are from and are you a DVC member.

You know, just a little info :lmao:

Where are the docs?????

Silver7,
It is my DH Tom and myself. We are in cabin 6592. We are DVC members since '94 and this is our 4th cruise:cool1: We have late dining. Hmmmm, what else? I can't remember:confused: . I'll get back to you if something is missing.
Vicki

Hi all. We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow:scared1: :woohoo: :scared1:

PJ - glad to hear someone else is dressing up for Pirate night - thought we might be the only ones. We are going to hold out and watch the new Pirates on the ship.

Patricia - The wedding was nice..........after we found the town it was in (East Liverpool) it took us 3 hrs (at 2:00 in the morning) to get there (should have just taken 30 min.) We sure got to see that big river of yours alot - we kept crossing it with every wrong turn.:rolleyes1 Very pretty up there - was a little cool, but not so bad.

If anyone's interested it is very easy to get tickets to go into the "Leaning Tower" in Pisa - www.opapisa.it

DId you guys catch the pics of the "wave pool" on the magic on the davidson blog - that was crazy!!

Have a nice evening!

GO SPURS!

PJ--What a fun idea--good luck Matey!
Thanks! pirate: I'll have to post some pictures. My sister made an amazing Red Headed Wench costume that looks just like the one from the ride and I made mine out of a ballet tutu!

My sister and I have been accused of having a "pirate problem." It's really an obsession. I think we're more excited for the Pirate Night than most of the ports! :rotfl: You're waiting until June to see the 3rd movie? :scared1:

Well I am hoping for a better day today than yesterday everything seems to go wrong at the same time - how I think I need that break.

Bought myself a laptop computer last weekend and have been unable so far, as have the experts to get this to work without the cable plugged into the wireless router. Think I spoke to everyone yesterday about this until my head was just spinning with it all. Press this, do that all too much. Trouble is all the help centres seem to be based abroad and I am not against that but have serious problems understanding them sometimes. I run AOL and apparently this can be a problem. Then in the afternoon (beautiful sunshine and warm for England) there was a loud bang and the safety valve on my solar panels blew off and ended at the top of the garden. All the mixture from the tubes shot out like a water cannon. Luckily it went the other side to where I had the parrot out in his cage and I had just moved from where I had been sitting talking to Toshiba. All these things are certainly sent to try us I think. Anyone on this board run AOL with windows vista please?

Another lovely day here but we in this part of the country are desparate for rain.

Assume Magic is now on its way to Barcelona - everything from that site seems quiet unless I have missed something.

Regarding these clothes optional beaches we stayed in Fuertuventura in the Canary Isles a few years ago and I was amazed as have been used to the topless ones in parts of France particularly for many years. People there just do not take any notice of naked people. We were in South of France many years ago when my girls were small and they could not believe it and kept coming back and telling their dad about ladies with no tops on. The innocence of children. On the other hand we here on the Isle of Sheppey have a naturist beach which most people never go near.

Well back to trying to solve the AOL laptop problem.
Bren

PJ, please post your pirate pictures!!!

I, too, will wait and see the movie onboard. Is it too scary for my 7 year old (she saw the first 2, but at home where the lights are on)?
