PJ, your enthusiasm is infectious!! I went out and bought pirate costumes today for us (not cheap by the way). pirate: My husband is gonna freak out when he gets home. He already thinks I've gone off the deep end with all this cruise stuff. Wait until he sees what I bought him to wear. :rotfl2: I offset the pirate costumes by finding a formal dress at the Goodwill store. I was psyched! Gotta stop eating ice cream so that I can fit into my dress. :scared:

Mission accomplised. Glad you've joined the pirate side.

I don't want to give anything away but all I can say is that saying I was sorely disappointed in the movie would be a wild understatement. I downright hated it. We went to the midnight showing and there were 16 of us all dressed up but that was about the only fun part of the movie. It was so dark, gruesome, and depressing. I had to leave the movie theatre at one point because it was so disturbing. I am just going to pretend that movie didn't happen and just think about only the first two which I loved. I would NOT let a child watch that movie. It was so disturbing. I do have some pictures of us all dressed up but they're not uploaded to my computer yet.

So, no new posts on the repo list, but now the 5/26 people are posting. The allearsnet.com/blog/debwills is a good one. She said they went to montserrat today and loved it. which is good, cause we're going there friday morning. There are 3 blogs and a live thread for that cruise. I can't wait to learn all about their trip. I can't believe we board a plane in 19 days...that's freaking crazy! Have a great memorial weekend everyone!

How strange it feels over here knowing that the Magic is on a similar time to us in England just 1 hour ahead.

Have now managed to get my laptop connecting wirelessly to AOL what a difficult time - Microsoft seem to have introduced Vista and nothing much is compatable. Microsoft offered to help me with the information but at a cost of £40 plus vat. Was not pleased about that.

Anyone moaning apart does anyone know what cables I need to bring apart from the power one to use the laptop on board. Know that I will need to bring an adaptor but to not know about a wireless cable and even if they are the same as ours here in England. Help all these little problems and then must start getting thinking about what clothes I am going to take.

Watching weather report last night and it seemed cloudy in Barcelona but will have another look today.Would love to see a picture of Magic there and wonder if anyone has seen one posted.
Not long now.

Good Morning!

It's US Standard. You'll probably need a stepdown converter. US is about 120. (This is according to my computer geek nephew) :surfweb:

Good Morning Everybody,

I can't wait for Silver to post, "How many more Saturdays?" LOL Every time she posts I want to do jump up & down.

I saw this list on Deb's blog, & thought it was great for all of us.

2. On line registration with Disney Cruise Line.
3. Making copies of all our important paperwork. copies of everything front and back:
a. Passports
b. Drivers Liscense
c. Medical Insurance cards
d. All Credit Cards we are taking

4. Just in case a piece of luggage doesn't make it to our destination at the same time we do,make sure there is a sheet of information in each suitcase. What will be on it:
a. Our name and phone numbers, US cell numbers and Global cell numbers
b. Home address
c. Hotel where we are staying and length of stay
d. Disney Cruise Line, Magic and length of cruise
e. Hotel where we are staying when returning from cruise and length of stay

5. Doing research and renting Global phones. Once the phones arrive, reading instructions on how to use the phones and programming the most important phone numbers in the phones.

7. Calling the credit card companies to alert them we will be traveling overseas.

8. Double checking with our medical insurance that we will have health care coverage on our trip

No way could I replace Silvernac, but three Saturdays from now we'll be on the ship! WOW!!! :woohoo:

Yall are too funny, I was just thinking about doing this!:rotfl2:

ok here it goes. . . .

ONLY 2 MORE SATURDAYS UNTIL THE SAILAWAY PARTY:rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow:

(I don't count the day we are there--it makes it seem closer somehow!)

FYI

Good Morning. We had booked the Treasure Hunt (La Spezia) and my DH noticed last night that it had been removed from our cruise plans. After calling DCL we found out that all Lucca excursions have been discontinued. Old news?

:dance3:

Hi 3happytravelers! Are you on our cruise? If so welcome!

I have heard of a few excursions being cancelled (Barcelona, etc) but did not know about the La Spezia ones. Thanks!

thats too bad. It shows as having no available spaces. They should just remove those excursions from the website.
On a brighter note...purtypat...I saved that word file. Those ladies on the allears blog had a great packing checklist you could save. Since so many people will be doing this before us, it'll help to see what people forget! ;)
Hope everyone has a great weekend...with only 2 more saturdays until we board, i'm getting excited
Now..if only the amazing silvernac could get my docs here!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry about the spelling mistakes in my last post - having problems with the keyboard on my laptop - have checked and the voltage is o.k. so thanks to everyone for their help. Wondered if I need a cable to plug in to the telephone line but assume not.

Sounds as if the first cruise is getting sorted and am looking forward to hearing about it - sneaking on to the other boards.

Glad to hear that everyone that posted enjoyed the excursions on the way over the atlantic and particularly it seems Gibraltar. It is such a strange place but I have always enjoyed it there. It is a bit like the channel isles where my daughters are, British but so different in a lot of ways.

My sister in law was actually born in Gibraltar as father in law worked out there in the dockyard.

Ok so we didn't get Joey Fatone & Kym. :sad1: That would have been WONDERFUL :cloud9: to see them dancing live! Does anyone know who the celebrity(ies) is/are on our cruise? :confused3

Will Disney let us know if our excursion is cancelled or do we just have to figure it out on our own? :confused3

Do we for sure have a celebrity?

DID YOU ALL READ THIS???????

Well, there is good news and bad news.

The bad is we will not be joining you and all our friends on the Magic's first Mediterranean cruise. Words cannot express how sad we are to be missing this trip with all of you. I had ordered Roses and the Bon Voyage chocolate covered strawberries and wine package to surprise Lynn in our cabin to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We have both shed a lot of tears these last 2 days. Please tell Shane and Laurie we are so sorry we could not continue our trip with them. Laurie lent us her cell phone as they were boarding the plane in Atlanta and it helped us a lot! (We will get it back to her when they return to Phoenix.)

The good news is we met some of the most wonderful people at the Atlanta airport who helped us cope with this disaster. After we arrived in the Atlanta airport we went to another terminal to wait for our next plane and get something to eat. In front of Arbys I reached in my right front pocket to get my wallet out and felt there was only one passport, mine, in the same pocket where I had put both of our passports after clearing security in Phoenix. Panic set in as I tried to remember all the possible places I had taken out my wallet and could have dropped Lynn's passport. In Phoenix, I had gone to Starbucks before Shane and Laurie met up with us at the gate and had also had taken out my wallet while sitting at the gate area to give Lynn some money to go an get something to eat. The only other time I could remember putting my hand in that pocket was to take some pills I had in a small box while on the plane from Phoenix to Atlanta. So, unless someone had picket my pocket while in the Atlanta airport, it seemed the passport must have dropped out of my pocket when I accessed my wallet in Phoenix or on the plane. After carefully going through all our carry on bags multiple times, I rushed back to the gate we had arrived at in Atlanta. I asked the gate attendants if anyone had found a passport and they said no. They said the planes are cleaned between flights so it would have been turned in if it had been found. Also, that plane had already departed for San Francisco, so we could not check our seats again. I returned to the food court with the bad news.

Time ran out as I racked my brain on where the missing passport could be. We had a photo copy of the passport in Lynn's wallet but, they would not accept that to board. We watched our friends board the plane without us and I realized I needed to get our 4 suitcases off that plane! The gate attendant told us we would have to go to baggage claim and request them. We ran to the baggage claim service desk where there was a huge line of passengers waiting to be served. I panicked and apologized to everyone as I cut to the head of the line telling the attendant I only had 15 minutes to get our bags off of that plane!. After some confusion, I learned that on international flights, bags are only loaded if the owners are confirmed boarding the plane. I also learned it would take up to 4 hours for the bags to show up at the baggage claim area!

The Delta lost and found office was next to the baggage claim service desk so I checked with them and there was nothing. They sent a text message to Delta operations in San Francisco to check our seats again when the plane arrived there. We waited 4 hours the answer which was negative on the plane in SF. Our bags still had not come so this very nice lady from Delta's baggage service desk, (she knew our plight), took our baggage claim stubs and went to track them down. She returned about 45 minutes later with our bags! We thanked her and returned to the ticketing area to decide how to get back to Phoenix.

By now, we were both extremely exhausted. We had gotten up at 4am in Phoenix and it was after 12am in Atlanta by now. We talked with 2 ticketing attendants and told them what had happened so far and requested how best to get back to Phoenix. One of the attendants would not let us give up. She was so positive we would find the passport and overcame our doom and gloom attitude. She looked up every conceivable phone number in both the Phoenix and Atlanta airports for Delta Lost & Found, TSA lost & Found, airport Lost & Found, airport operations, even the Starbucks in Phoenix's terminal 3. She tried calling all these numbers but either received automated answer messages or negative answers regarding the passport. She would NOT let us give up! She said we should wait until late morning and try the numbers again. We were so sad & tired and all of the comfy chairs in the airport were taken with the holiday passengers sleeping in them! This incredible lady from Delta ticketing would just not let us give up!

Our ticket to Barcelona was not refundable and we did not have travel insurance either. She rebooked us on the next flight to Barcelona and even reserved us a seat on a flight via Rome to Palermo on the next day so we could rejoin the ship if we found the passport and could get it in time. Anyway, she gave us a complimentary hotel voucher and a bunch of complimentary 5 minute phone cards, since we did not have the charger for Laurie's cell phone, and said go get some sleep and try again later in the morning.

We went to get the free shuttle to the hotel but the phone number for the shuttle was constantly busy! We talked with the driver of a shuttle for another hotel and after hearing our story, she volunteered to take us to our hotel even though she didn't work for them! WOW!!! She dropped us off near our hotel's lobby so as not to be seen and I gave her a nice tip and thanked her for her trouble. We got to our room by 3am and slept until 7:30am.

We returned to the airport and retried all the same numbers to no avail but left messages to call us on Laurie's cell phone regarding the passport. We finally decided to call Disney Cruise Lines to see what our options were. Well, the castmembers we spoke with were incredible!!! We asked if we could possibly rebook one of the later cruises using some of the $12,000 we had spent on this one. We were told there was nothing available at first but then one of the supervisors tried again without entering the air travel add-on and surprise!!! For $435 additional perperson we got booked on the July 28th 11-day Med Cruise in a Cat 6 stateroom with a verandah just as we had booked on our previous reservation!!! She also told us not to book a flight back to Phoenix just yet and to call her back in 30 minutes.

We went and got coffee and a Danish and called her back after the 30 minutes as requested. When we called back she gave us a confirmation code for tickets back to Phoenix at 4:30pm!!!! Man somebody pinch me! I must be dreaming! First nightmare then WOW! We need to check with Delta but we probably can use our Barcelona tickets on this cruise as well.

So, it seems, we will get to the Med after all! We will miss you all terribly but, have a great cruise and we can't wait to hear all about it! While waiting for our flight back to Phoenix we went and had some lunch at the food court. We got a call from Starbucks in Phoenix and they had found Lynn's passport!!! We picked it up when we arrived back last night! So we are ready for July's cruise!

Sorry this was so long, but believe me when I say it was much longer for us!

Tom & Lynn (DisneySpirit)

I saw that...ugh..that would be my worst nightmare!
On a better note...everyone is updating their reports. There are some wonderful pictures of montserrat and great info about boarding. I think I am getting jealous that I did not stay in a disney hotel. They don't even have to go to the port to get their keys. On a side note, it seems those that they were able to check in at 10am! Probably because the ship was in overnight...we'll have to check out the 6/6 cruise.
I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I am that Joey and Kym were on this cruise (at the beginning) but not travelling, but it's said that Joey and his family will travel on the next one! We're just one off! :( I'm a big geek, but I did love my *NSYNC back in the day!
So far it seems all is well. Hopefully they'll have the dining down by the time we get on. I will leave early to go to the sailaway party. I JUST CAN'T WAIT!
17 days until we leave for barcelona. The pictures they have posted are beautiful.
I am also happy that we arrive in the evening. Seems that everyone arriving in the morning is having a bit of trouble adjusting. I hope all of you who are arriving in the AM will sleep on the plane.
Gotta get baking. I'm attempting a carrot cake with lemon cream cheese frosting and a cherry cobbler. Wish me luck.

Welcome aboard 3happytravellers....let us know more about you! We're a friendly chatty group!

Have a great day.
Steph

Well it has been a very rainy day here in Kent but we went an met some friends at Ightham Mote which is a National Trust property not far away. She was telling me about the Duck tours of london and said they are excellent if anyone is interested.

Still trying to locate the link for the Med cruise just departed - want to know what money we have to have available for the porters would it be in USD of Euros I wonder.

Thank you for the information on the laptop am starting to get the hang of it now - not good with new technology.
