June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

FYI - just called my credit card company to get the skinny on surcharges. My Chase Visa will charge 3% of the converted US dollars spent on each transaction. Interestingly, my credit union only charges 1%, which seems pretty darned good. For those of you that belong to credit unions, you might want to investigate that route. Have fun!

I wonder if the charges from the ship will be considered overseas or since it is an American based company it would be considered domestic?

PS

Brian tell Jose to step away from the computer--I sense his input on the eye-pokey-outy pirate

Silver 7,

Funny you should ask that question. About 2 minutes ago, I asked Disney the exact same thing. They said that all charges on board will be in US dollars (no conversion necessary - thank God).

Also, I re-asked the question about surcharges and currency conversion. The said that there will be NO SURCHARGES added when converting to Euros on board the ship. They will use the rate quoted on www.xe.com. We'll see!!??

I vote NO for the skull. All the other cruisers will think we're all psycho!! Plus, my kids might not sleep at night - HA!

Sorry for the excessive posts these past few days. I AM having fun doing the detective work; however, I'm not getting any "real" work done.

-Jodie

Uh, I asked my 14yo DS and he liked the creepy skull too

I like the original one better though.

I am spending way too much time messing with the skull but it made me laugh.:rotfl2: Need to do more work at work and stop thinking about the cruise so much. Cafepress can’t tell me this looks Disney. Anyway I didn’t want to creep any one out but I’m still laughing at this picture. With over a month to go the skull may go through a lot of changes. Ha :surfweb:

Brian

I almost forgot: the shirt site {cafepress/medhead2} will go back with the original skull logo. But if anyone really wants the creepy skull on a shirt I can make a new site with medhead3 :surfweb:

Leilani..what flight r u on going to paris? It's funny that we r on the same airlines, but not same flight going to bcn....maybe orly...hahaha
S

Steph - we are on Iberia flight 4424 leaving at 2:15pm. I could have chosen an earlier flight but I figured this one will give us plenty of time to get to the airport and have lunch with DH, my parents, and David's family.

LeiLani - We are staying at the Barcelona Hilton also. I was going to use Disney tranfers but when I called awhile back they said that the Barcelona Hilton was not one of their hotels. So, I made arrangements for private transfers. Where are y'all staying in London? We are staying at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington.

Carol - the Barcelona Hilton was not originally a DCL hotel and we were supposed to be at the Hilton Diagonal Mar but DCL had to change hotels. We were going to do private transfers but with 10 of us and possibility not arriving at the same time, we thought it would easier to do DCL transfers.

We are staying at the London Marriott County Hall. It is right next to the London Eye and across the Thames from Parliament and Big Ben so it's a great location.

Just got this from the May 26th 11 day cruise. winotracy posted it and I think she works for DU so she has an inside scoop. I hope she doesn't mind that I quoted her here.

Quoted from winotracy:
Big scoop here!

I just heard about the new entertainment planned for our cruise!!

A bit of it is hype, but it sounds good. There will be three new theater productions (only one in my count).

When Mickey Dreams

Mickey Mouse's dreams come to life in this production. There will be cirque-like acts and a nightmare with Malificent.

The Art of the Story

For those on the 10 and 11 night Wonder, this was one of the shows. Hopefully they tweaked it a bit (I talked to a guy in entertainment from Celebration and he said they were going to). Acts from Moulan, Tarzan, Beauty & the Beast, Lion King and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Ducky Williams and others explain how a story comes to life.

On the Nose

Also premiered on the 10 and 11 night Wonder. This was a game show where the audience was divided up into sections and we answered trivia questions with prizes awarded to the winning sections. This was a hard game to play if your section was spread out. You were seated in certain sections, but if the people in your section weren't together, you couldn't discuss the answers at all. I hope they revamped this a bit as well.

We will also have a Mediterranean Deck Party which will highlight music and special effects for all of the ports of call we will visit. Part of the description is that it will "light up the sky" so I presume that means FIREWORKS!!!!!.

The sailaway party is listed as being new.

Pirate night is listed the same as it is for the 4 and 7 night cruises -- dinner and deck party.

They also said there will be other activities with European Flair! Films shown in the Buena Vista Theater will include Moulon Rouge and Casino Royale.

The best is the kids clubs!! They will be doing things in the clubs that will get them ready for the ports which are coming up. They will be making puppets, tiles and crepes to name a few things!

Finally, we will be boarding the ship on deck 1. They will have an express elevator to Deck 9 and the other two elevators will make stops at the individual floors. I'm so glad I'm on Deck 2 this year!!!!

I vote NO for the skull. All the other cruisers will think we're all psycho!! Plus, my kids might not sleep at night - HA!

I can't speak for everyone, but I AM psycho. Just kidding. BUT, the skull does give me the heebie jeebies.

Thanks so much for that last post, LeiLani. I am so super excited now!!! :cool1:

1. Brian, LOVE the new skull! It's really creepy with those eyes!

2. Thanks LeiLani for the information on the entertainment items. Love the idea of the maleficent! (One of my favorites, hence my avatar.)

Getting EXCITED for the cruise!

Again leilani...no flight...but it's funny.:lmao: We're on the 11:30 flight. More time to explore paris!
Today I had the french teacher at school helping me find my way on the metro map. She was just gushing over all the great places to take my dd in paris. Then I stopped her in her tracks...I mentioned a day at disneyland paris...oh the horror in her eyes! :scared1:
It was hysterical. How could I be in such a beautiful place and go to "disney". I said..you know there's only so many naked statues and pictures a 9 year old can do before she see's the mouse! I have to "g" rate it up a little!

Anyways, that finished off my paris questions. Now on to london. Then, I just need to do a little more reading on sardinia and sicily as we have time to explore at those ports.

It's good to know that DCL is still stating the same about the euros. I can't wait to read the trip reports and see if it's all really true. That would save alot. (and I get my airline miles to get cash..double bonus) :rotfl:

I like the creepy pirate too, but as a jammie shirt..I don't think I could wear that in public. I got my email that cafepress is sending my items...so very excited.

Can I ask a stupid question? (one of my many specialties) What does your avatar have to do with Maleficent?

Steph - yeah that was the other flight I had to choose from but I went for the 2:15 instead. If we get to the airport way early I might see if it's possible to get on that flight.

I knew that by the time we hit Paris the girls would be tired of looking at museums and "stuff" so we decided to stay at DLP. We will do 1 long day in downtown Paris and see what we can see. The two major things we want to see are the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.
