Just wondering if anyone knows if Disney will arrange transport as well as hotels in Barcelona. Still cannot find anything at all on the website about hotels.

The web site has been updated, correcting information and adding members Skallywag, LISATX, 4KidsandaDog, and RayGou. I'm still missing some information and I need a good big map of our route. I am going to add a Links page later today. Wow, 63 hits in just a few days!

Also, is anybody's mouse attack messing up?

Thanks,

The Webmaster :surfweb:

What is everyone thinking on the hotels in Barcelona? Except for the Grand Marina, they're really NOT right next to the port, as far as I can see. There seem to be quite a few small, nice hotels closer, and in some of the "touristy" areas of Barcelona. I am looking at a place called Casa Camper that is about 2 kilometers from the port In the Barri Gothic area and near Las Ramblas. I wish there was a way to know more about the areas of Barcelona (safety wise) and the availabity of cab fare, etc. It might be nice to stay somewhere that was "in the middle" of things. But I want to be able to get to the ship easily. What are you thinking?

Julie

Would still like to know what Disney have planned transport wise in Barcelona.
Las Ramblas area apparently is not really the place to walk after dark so I have been told and becomes very noisy and in some places is the red light district. They advise after dark to take cabs back to hotels.

I suppose it all depends on how long you are planning on staying in Barcelona prior to the cruise.

If we were staying any length of time would definitely hire a car and go further afield.

Happy Easter holidays everyone - must lose weight and not even been tempted by easter eggs this year.

Still cannot find any prices regarding hotels in Barcelona on Disney site but assume they will negotiate a reasonable deal.

We booked through DU and have transfers... but I don't know what that entails right now. I suppose it is probably something still being worked out. This trip is becoming a little scary, with all the unknowns: international travel, jet lag, hotel stays...

Hi - we booked through Dreams Unlimited also and wonder what information you have about transfers. As these from the airport or just hotel to port.

Am awaiting information about hotels from DU also.

Have visited your country about 14 times now and it is not too scary this international travel bit. This time will be a frist for us as we only have a short flight. Incidentally find the short flights can be more tiring than long-haul as you dont seem to get time to relax and just have to keep going.

I'm guessing these are from the airport.... I really am clueless. We've always booke our own transfers from airport/hotel/port when sailing out of Port Canaveral. I guess I'll find out more later. I'll have to ask our agent. Seeing as we don't have flights or rooms booked, I imagine there won't be much info.

fHi everyone--back from the magic will write more later. I need to atleast get one load of laundry started.

Judy

Have just received any email from Dreams unlimited who have been in contact with Disney who say they have sold out of their allotment of hotels in Barcelona for pre-cruise. Feel this is very bad of Disney as have not seen this advertised at all. They can offer transport at $59 per person from airport to hotel then port and back to airport.

Obviusly unless we can get a hotel serviced by the transport this is not going to be any use.

Has anyone else received this information and can clarify with Disney what on earth is going on.

I have a weird question. I have not traveled extensively in Europe. (I have been to Spain once, but it was with a pre-arranged tour group of 12 and 13 year olds. I didn't have to make any of the hotel arrangements myself.) Why do so many European hotels not have (or at any rate, not list) rooms with two beds? Certainly Europeans have and travel with their children. Where do the children stay? I have found that virtually all of the hotels that Disney has listed as their hotels of choice don't have rooms with two beds (or at least say they don't on the web). ??????????? Where am I going to put my 11 year old son? :confused3

Thanks for letting me sound stupid for a moment.

Welcome back Judy. Hope your cruise went well. You will have to tell us all about Cozumel.

I just called DCL to find out pricing and here is what I got. I wanted 2 nights - June 14th & 15th and after looking the CM came back and said she was surprised but all their rooms are sold out. She did say I could put in a wait list request and then 24 to 48 hours from now someone with DCL would call me back and let me know what they found and how much it would be. This last comment was a little confusing because it sounded like they would check to see if they could get me a room and then call me back. I think I will do a little looking on my own on Monday. I might have to call the hotels, because I know none of them will show dates past April 2007 on their web sites. I will let you know what I hear from DCL, but it sounds like we might be on our own for hotels.

Many hotels in Europe have what they call family rooms and we have used these when we have travelled with the grandchildren.

Found a web site for hotels yesterday when I was searching and it is http://barcelona.iberialodging.com ...d out any more information will post it here.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!

AND HAPPY PASSOVER TO ANYONE CELEBRATING THAT EVENT!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Everyone and Happy Easter and Passover to you!

The Marina Hotel seemed very expensive to me (at about $450 per night--and we need two rooms for two nights?) so I started looking into the alternatives. Tripadvisor recommends one hotel very highly--The Casa Camper Hotel--has anyone heard of it? It looks nice.

BTW guys -----can we change our thread name to the MED HEADS ???

We're thinking of booking Casa Camper. It sounds really nice (and like a nice way to get to see a little of Barcelona). I'm a little worried about the area, though. El Raval is billed as an area that "has benefitted from urban renewal." So, what does THAT mean? It looks (from the reviews) as though it is in a relatively safe area, but the guide books I have looked at have clearly said that this is an area "in transition." Go figure. We are thinking about booking it anyway. (It's only about 2 kilometers from the port -- a lot closer than some of the hotels that Disney is putting on its list.) If we need to take a cab places, I guess that will be okay.

How about if we organize and all stay there? Then we can share cabs and do the safety in numbers thing???

Judy - Elizabeth started the thread so I will send her a PM and see if she will change it for us. What exactly do we want? June 16, 2007 Cruising MedHeads or something else. If we can't get her to change it maybe one of the moderators can change it for us.

Let me know exactly what we want and I will see what we can do.

Hi Y'all

I just sent a request for a reservation to the Hotel Casa Camper. Here is their website: http://www.camper.es/web/en/casacamper.asp There are only 25 rooms, and it is a nonsmoking hotel which is nice.

Hey! Will you let us know when you hear back? So far I haven't heard anything. I didn't send a request for a reservation, but I did send a question.
