I am so excited I have my gifts for the meet and greet.....

It has been so long since I have been on that alot has been posted since the last time I was on. I do have a quick question. We do have internet service in the rooms right? and if so can I bring my laptop? Also does anyone know the pricing on internet service? thanks for your help guys, Diane,

Why yes it is. I'm soo excited, but my kids are more excited about the boat and meeting other children.

I have one 18 year old son and one 8 year old son. This is my sons graduation present. He is pretty excited. I let him pick all of our excursions. He also got his tux so he can eat at Palos. That is something he has wanted to do for a long time. He told me today that he wanted to go to brunch and high tea. So I will need to get him those reservations. He loves Disney. When we return from the cruise we are going to Disneyland for my husbands 45 birthday and our 20th anniversary. So it is a Disney summer. We live in California so we go to Disneyland a lot.

Hello to all! We are sailing on the magic on the 16 with a family of 4 (children DD 14 birthday on cruise turning 15 and DS 13 DH 50s ) From the Dallas, Texas .We were confirmed only a week ago and are busy planning shore excursions. LOTS TO DO!!!
We are also traveling with a family friend and her DS who is 15. This is our first med. criuse, but our 3rd disney.
We arrive in Barcelona on the 14 and will be staying at the Renniasance Airport.

I've had a busy day and haven't been home to check the board until now and you all have been quite busy today.

Most importantly, Welcome to our group, Linda Arothfield!

The gift exchange time about 1:30 before LeiLani's party sounds great - We could even meet at the pool area. I vote for no wrapping also - just more to carry and I'm sure I'll be close to the weight limit anyhow.

Best of luck traveling to those of you that are getting ready (or already) to leave. We'll be looking forward to meeting everyone just as soon as we get on at the lunch. We'll be wearing the obnoxious pirate shirts, so we will stand out.

Congrats on the upgrade - the veranda sounds very nice. We'll be quite happy in our dark little room. It's the only way to sleep in!!!

We are all set with the TP and seat covers - wouldn't want to travel overseas without them. I'm still on the prowl for a security purse with the cable in the handle. Hopefully I'm just being overly cautious.

Well good news, my DD does not have an urinary tract infection just a mild irritation. Off to pack.

You might want to pickup some cranberry pills to take with you just in case. It can be hard to stay hydrated when you're traveling, which could make the irritation worse.

...DS (9) LOVES the Gameboy. I'm allowing him to bring it on the plane, but I told him NO playing it on the trip - just the plane.

A lot of the shore excursions include a pretty long bus ride. If you're on any of these, you'll probably want him to bring the Gameboy on these too! (learned that the hard way)

I don't believe there is a hardwired access point in the cabins, just wireless. So you can bring your laptop, but will need to access the internet wirelessly. I know that the wireless works from some specific points on the ship for sure. The cabin access is new, so may not be fully tested yet. But some folks from the May 26th sailing said they used it from their cabin with no problem.

According to the DCL website the prices are:

Internet Access Disney Magic
Pay as you go - $0.75 per minute
100 min for $55 ($0.55/min)
250 min for $100 ($0.40/min)
500 min for $150 ($0.30/min)

Back home from graduation, you guys are chatty! Thanks for reposting the internet prices. I thought they were more, but now I feel better. I did cancel florence/pisa. The money I would have spent was not worth the risk of having a bad time. I hope all of you still doing that excursion have a great time and I end up envious, but it'll make for a good excuse to come back again I am almost in packing mode. Quick trip to our state capitol tomorrow..sacramento for those who don't know...and the let the laundry begin. I am sure I will overpack, but confident that i'll have everything that I'll need.

I will be bringing my laptop. It is wireless ready, so I'll be blogging away and working while I'm gone.

Can't wait...are we there yet? and GOOD NIGHT

So there I was.....

I was in Italy for a course, and went into Rome by myself one day. It was June, and hot, and I was pregnant at the time. I was standing in the metro station waiting for the train, and all I could think about was getting on the train and sitting down.

As the train pulled up, a group of kids rushed up, and I thought they were trying to get a seat. They pushed and shoved me, and I pushed back as I focused on the empty seat ahead of me thinking "I'm gonna get that seat if it kills me!" I got the seat, and was all happy with myself. That is until the kids ran off the train right as the doors were closing...

That's when the lightbulb went on, and I looked down at my backpack. Most of the zippers were unzipped! Luckily they hadn't been able to get anything out. And I always use a small suitcase padlock on the pocket that has the valuables in it, so they didn't get that compartment unzipped. (I also use one of the pouches that you wear around your neck, so I can keep some money handy for easy access, but that was tucked inside my shirt.)

So all in all it was just a learning experience, and added some excitement to my adventures in Rome. But I definitely learned that you need to be vigilant at all times!

LOL Carol we went to the Pet Palace yesterday to fill out all our paperwork! We took the "boys" so they are used to the smell, etc. They go for their complimentary "day care" on Monday--this is done for the first timers so they can get used to the place. I thought that was a nice touch

I got the purse through the Magelleans catalog. I feel a tad better about travel now. I THINK they had some at the REI store, or something like them.

Linda! Tell your guys that there is a teen thread going so the guys (and girls, but it seems to be mostly guys) to meet. I have a 14 almost 15 yo going also. Yeah more Texans!

We picked up the guys suits yesterday, and now just have to get the guys dress shoes, etc. They have outgrown their old ones! YIKES!

I would like to point out that I am almost all packed, and the MALES in the family have not packed anything, and are just now starting to lay stuff out.

Hi Everyone,

Jodie know just what you mean about cats mine tries to climb onto the keyboard and my lap - We must all be getting excited knocked a cup of coffee over yesterday all over the floor.

Just been unpicking those horrid itchy little labels that some shops have in the back of cotton tops. Even with my reading glasses it was not easy particularly as we had a very loud storm this morning with plenty of rain and it was dark. Sorry everyone that is coming to London looks like sunshine and showers from now on temperature 73 and 61 night time. Just looked and it seems that we are due rain in Barcelona also - cannot have that not for sail-away party.

Another thing to be careful of in spain is Spanish tummy - avoid ice and unpeeled fruit.

Happy packing everyone - 1.30 for exchanging gifts sounds fine to me anyone decided where yet?

Leilani - what do you wish us to bring to your gathering?

Yes I do have an accent. We were snowed in a few years ago and when a bbc news camera crew flew in by helicopter we were talking the dog and were also taking to them. When it came oer the news my husband said I sounded like princess Ann - dont know if that is a compliment or not.

Wish I did not have 6 days to wait before I leave feel a bit as if I am in limbo - where is the lady with the missing passport - has it turned up yet?

We've also decided to cancel the Florence & Pisa tour. We're going to do Florence on our own, instead. Hopefully we won't regret it, but like Steph said, it'll make a good excuse to go back!

I'm awfully jealous of those of you already leaving. I have a whole week of work left before we get to go Although, it's probably a good thing, because we haven't even thought about starting to pack, yet. I guess it'll be a busy weekend!

The security purses that I have looked at are made by PacSafe and are sold at REI and over the internet. I'm sure there are other brands and that's what I'm going to look into today. I'll let you know if I find anything useful.
