June 15 - June 22 2013 Eastern Fantasy

Good morning fellow cruisers. Another week has gone by.
We now have only

weeks to go to the Fantasy. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

10 members of the family travelling from San Diego. Done the Magic Western in 2008 and the Wonder Alaskan in 2011. Looking forward to the Fantasy and the Eastern cruise.

Welcome! What part of San Diego are you from? I grew up in Scripps Ranch!

We're on the Fantasy with you. My DH and I plus 10 family members for a total of 12. It's my DH parents and his brother's family (DW, DS and DD) along with my parents, my grandmother and a family friend. We booked the first day and were able to get the 5 cabins we wanted on Deck 7...2 different room categories (5C and 9B) but all together just forward of mid-ship.

This cruise we'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary. Plus my nephew's 12th birthday. While we've been on DCL several times, and both sets of parents have been on DCL once, this will be first time my grandmother and DH bother's family. So looking forward to sharing DCL with them. We introduced DH brother's family to WDW recently and now get to share DCL.

I'm looking forward to learning more about our fellow DIS cruisers and well as get help planning as we get closer. I'm the family travel planner so it's a lot of pressure but also a lot of fun. Feeds my need to be in control. :rotfl:

:welcome: aboard :cool1::cool1: Another large family. It is going to be a great time. We are also on a 5c on deck 7. We are in 7542 so maybe we are neighbors. If you have any questions please ask away. I am just got off the Magic 2 two weeks ago from an Eastern.

Our families (3) are from the Carmel Mtn Ranch and Rancho Bernardo areas in San Diego.

We're just across the ship from you...we're in 7056-7060. :thumbsup2

I was looking at some of the options in St. Maaten and like the idea of spending the day at the beach. However, I keep seeing comments that the beaches follow European customs...meaning clothing optional. I really don't want to be on a clothing optional beach with my 12 year old nephew and my 84 year old grandmother. Did you visit the beaches on St. Maarten? If so, which one and did you find clothing optional????

St Maarten is split in two parts. The dutch side where we dock and the french side. On the dutch side you will not see the clothing optional but the french side (orient beach) there are clothing optional sections (and yes they are right next to each other, like you can't look across :rolleyes1). For the reasons you mentioned we just went to Great Bay Beach which is across the bay from where the Fantasy will dock. You can take a quick water taxi over to the beach. Phillipsburgh is right behind the beach if you wish to go shopping afterwards.

Here are some pics of the beach.

We may next time take Bernards tour of the island. A bunch of DISsers went on it and loved it. Warning there is a stop a orient beach. They stopped at Maho beach for a while to watch planes lane. Pretty cool with a 747 over your head. This is pic is from a DISser who went on the tour.

Hey all...we are waitlisted for this cruise in 2013..........I guess you can book onboard but not in "real life?" Anyway, this week works for our youngest DDs grad school schedule.

So, yes, we've sailed the Eastern Caribbean itinerary a few times.....sailed with mostly the Magic, also sailed last summer on the Dream and WE LOVED IT!!! Can't wait to get back on the big DCL ships!!

Please include us in the FE exchange!:goodvibes

:welcome: aboard. We love the Magic and can't wait for the Fantasy. We have not been on the Dream but will be on the Fantasy next June for a Western. :cool1: Just curious on how you can be waitlisted within a month of the dates coming out?? :rolleyes1 Is this due to trying to get an inside catg? We will do a FE roll call in a few months after more DISsers join the thread.

Thanks for the info and pic of the beach...I want to be there now!! That's a cool photo of the plane. I've read about it and thought the experience would be fun until I read you need to close your eyes unless you want a nice gravel scrub for your eyes. :rotfl:

The dates for the Fantasy and Dream were anounced two weeks ago and DCL allowed booking the same day. Therefore if you are waiting to book this cruise please call your TA. We booked and put a deposit down on this cruise two weeks ago.
