June 14, 2009 WONDER-ful cruise

We had a wonderful time! (although, as DH mentioned- we all got majorly sunburned- and are now peeling- ugh!). I'll add my thanks to his for the fish extender gifts- they were really awesome, and the girls couldn't wait to check it any time we went in or out of the room!

Can't wait to cruise again (although, it will be 3 years before the girls will be in the same kids club! :scared1:

So those with Palo brunch reservations what did you think? I'm pretty sure we were all in there at the same time. I thought the buffet was really good and I ordered the Chicken Parm as my hot dish and thought it to be pretty good...not the best I've had but steps above most. The desserts were the best on the cruise.

Biggest dissappointment of the cruise? The dessert buffet (and the hot for that matter) on Pirate Night. Maybe I had my hopes up too high but the things I tasted (and I got to taste quite a few between me, DW, and DD) just weren't that good...especially compared to the rest of the food we had on the ship.

Hi everyone! We just got back today, and we are exhaused and in need of a vacation from our vacation.

Thanks everyone for the FE gifts. It was great fun!

We just got back late last night. Was it hot at the parks or what?

We really enjoyed the cruise. Although we didn't participate, it was fun looking at all the FE's and seeing how much effort everyone put into making them. I caught one couple filling them and said a quick hello. I didn’t even catch that TWINBOYSMOMMY was from Indy until I saw what I believe was their cabin just a few doors down from ours. We might even be neighbors!

I also saw that some of you played the $5,000 round of bingo (whatever Trevor!) I was pretty close on a couple of the games, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. A definite thanks to Vesko and Tricia, our servers throughout the cruise. They were great!

Hey there!

Where do you live? We live in Noblesville. Are we neighbors?

Kristie :)

That was us :) We're actually semi-neighbors as well- we live about an hour and a half from Indy, in IL.

Oh yes, that was us! (Eleanor [ella6599] and I). Greetings!

Did anyone video the Friendship Rocks show? We hadn't planned for our daughter to stay at the club through show time, but she did and we missed the show (we were at the spa). If anyone can post a video, or e-mail it to me, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi, I did video it. I have not looked at it yet, but i was really close to the front so I could video. Let me get on the computer this week and I will get it to you.

Thanks for the great gifts. My girls also ran back to the room each evening to check the FE. We just got home Tuesday late. We also went to Universal Studios and then stopped at the Beach in Destin a couple of nights on the way home. What a trip. We all loved our first cruise. I wish one would leave from Texas! Maybe in the future!

Hey all - I loved the cruise! So much so that I want to price the 7 day on the Magic some time for next year. We had an excellent time. I would say the "highlight" was snorkling at Castaway & finding the sunken items. I will say though something sad happened. Our FE got stolen or removed sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday. My DD was so upset when we left the room and saw that it was gone that she cried at dinner. I kept telling her that it was problably teenagers pulling a prank or perhaps it fell off and the cleaning people retrieved it but she was still so upset because she had so much fun with that. Oh well - stuff happens, right?? It was still an amazing cruise/vacation. Take care fellow cruisers!

We agree about Castaway Cay. My daughter and I have decided that we want to live there! She is 7 and had never snorkled, but we spent over an hour out there and she did great. We especially loved all the hidden treasures like Minnie Mouse.
I can't believe someone would take your fish extender. My kids would have been devastated, too. I guess even a few Disney vacationers can be cruel.

How is it I didn't run into you in the middle of the lagoon I wonder? lol...a little inside joke. I agree though, I had the best time snorkling...wish I would have allowed myself more time...even my wife that can't swim had a good time snorkling and it will be our #1 thing to do when we go back...I want to try my DD to go next time but it'll take a lot of work since she still doesn't like to get water in her face even

Hi again everyone ~

We know now that we are "cruise people" and we can't wait to do it again!

We've booked a 7-night western on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas (the giantic one next to us in port). We sail June 27. We are very excited to try this ship - but we have agreed not to try to "compare" it to DCL because we don't think anything will! My parents, who did not join us on this summer's cruise, have booked a room next to us on FOS. I'm fired up to climb up Dunn River Falls in Jamaica, and to explore a few new ports. I will miss Castaway Cay though - we loved it there!

We are also holding reservations on the Wonder for next June since we put down a deposit before we left the ship. The plan is to roll that forward to summer 2011 and book the Disney Dream when it starts sailing. That should give us another shot at CC!

(Note to self - change my countdown ticker!)

Laura, that's awful somebody took your FE! :sad2: Someone took our Air Force magnet, and that made me mad enough. DH thinks maybe it fell off and just got kicked along down the hallway or something. I don't agree - I think somebody took it.

BTW, I agree with the comments about the pirate night dessert buffet. We were really disappointed. My SIL and I took one bite of our 2 items and tossed it all. Not like I NEEDED any more dessert, but still . . .

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!

Kristie :)

Sorry to hear about your magnets. I made some Mickey ears for my parents room and my brother's room. My brother's got stolen, but I found them on another stateroom door. I labeled them. Not worth the argurment, I just took them back and went on with vacation.

We re-booked too. We are going on the DIS Podcast cruise next December. We had such a blast cruising with over 300 people from the DIS in May that we HAD to do it again.:woohoo:

The thought of re-booking was tempting... but we were planning on a trip to Univesral next year (for the new Harry Potter Wizarding World). Pete is working out a "Podcast Cruise 1.5", with a 4-night Royal Carribean cruise and 3 days in the US parks. I think that sounds like an awesome package -- and it will be fun to be with fellow DIS-ers, and see what special surprises are in store!

BTW -- I also LOVED the snorkeling at CC (though no one else in my family did). I paid for it with a terrible sunburn on my back that was peeling for a week and a half afterward! I was tempted to buy some snorkeling equipment last weekend, but the lakes here in Illinois aren't exactly as crystal clear as a Carribean lagoon. :lmao:

What is the Podcast that you just mentioned? That sounds really neat. Is it a joint venture with Disney and RC?

The DIS Boards have a podcast called the DIS Unplugged. They put out 2 shows a week. You can click the DIS Unplugged logo on the main DIS Boards page to see all about it and listen from your computer or download onto your iPod or mp3 player. They are a hoot! Lots of tips and advice. Review of rides, resorts, and attractions, etc.

Pete (the owner of the DIS Boards and partner of Dreams Unlimited Travel) hosted a cruise this past May. I was a lucky winner of this cruise and it was a great time. A 2nd cruise, dubbed 2.0, is planned for next December. So far over 500 people are coming (we had over 300 in May). There were a few concerns about 2.0 being held during school so 1.5 is being crafted. It will be with Royal Carribean Cruise Line and you can add Universal Studios to the trip (land/sea package). Many teachers and those the like are very excited about this since it will be during summer break next year.

So, you coming?:goodvibes
