June 10, 2012 Dream 5-Night Double-Dip

Our flight leaves in 101 days. Hard to believe we booked this cruise 580 days in advance!!

We are planning on spending 2 days at WDW prior to the cruise--DH will take our oldest son to Star Wars Weekend on Friday while I'm planning on taking the 2 younger kids to EPCOT. Then on Saturday we will all go to Magic Kingdom together.

Wait, it's Star Wars weekend the few days prior to the cruise??? How did I miss that in my planning. Man, I'm off my game! :rolleyes1

We plan to hit the parks Th, Fri & Sat prior to the cruise....

We are thinking about how to get from AKL to Port Canaveral. The bus seems expensive for a family of four. We are thinking about maybe a one way car rental or a private car/bus. What are your thoughts on this?

When we cruised last time back in 2007 on Disney we did a towncar service round trip. It was roughly about $100 each way at the time... but that was cheaper than Disney bus even 5 years ago.... There are good recommendations over on the Transportation forums on companies to go with.

I can't believe we are under 100 (for us since we are arriving June 6th in Orlando!!!). I'm so excited & also spending lots of time trying to figure out good FE gifts!

We have always used the option of renting a car one way. However our situation was coming from the airport and driving directly to the Cape. Staying a night there. It was very easy to drop the car at budget and their shuttle takes you to the dock. Then when you get back the shuttle is there to take you back to budget to pick up a new car and you are on your way to the airport.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to stop in real quick to say that I just got back last week from a 4 night Dream cruise and we had a great time! :woohoo: Can't wait to meet you all on our June trip. This was my second time on the Dream and I have to say that I'm growing to love this new ship. My impressions after my June trip was that the ship was too big and I missed sailing on the Wonder, but it was a lot easier knowing the whereabouts of the ship the second time around. She can be overwhelming.

Our Dis group met up on the first day in Vista Cafe. I think this is a great place to meet. We didn't have to worry about crowds or noise. It was like we had the place to ourselves and it was inside with air conditioning. My first meet up in June was outdoors in the heat, so I would recommend meeting in Vista Cafe. Unless someone else has a better idea...:)

If any of you have any questions for me, just ask. :goodvibes

Glad you had a great time, Sherrie! Question: Are kids allowed in the Vista Cafe?

Has anyone designed shirts for this cruise? I am just starting to think about this. Due to budget reasons I think I should try to make ones myself this time. The last time I tried ironing on a design they began peeling mid day. It didn't turn out well. Anyone have tips:confused3:confused3

Final payments made!!! WooHoo.:banana: Our group grew by one more person - a good family friend is joining us and it will be her first cruise. So excited!!!

I am going to have to drop out of the FE group. I am just not going to have the time that I would like to apply to it. Sorry everyone. Maybe next time!

:yay:Hi! We are first time Disney Cruisers and are so excited about our trip!
Our family is myself (Cindy), DH (Tom), DD (Kaitlin)14 and DD(Sarah) 8. We have been to WDW 3 times and feel like we know what to do and when to do it there, but planning for the cruise is a whole new thing for us. Hoping to learn alot from people here. 78 days and 18 hours til we set sail! (Love the app Tom put on our phones!)

Hello everyone,

Had to make a change in our cabin, actually who's attending. My daughter's boyfriend was disappointed he couldn't bring his other girlfriend, so he won't be coming on the trip with us... DARN...:lmao: So I'm bring my 5 yo Niece with us.

So it will be
Pumba's Dad: me (Ramon), DW (MK), DS(Juan 17), DD(Sara 15) and DN (Niece Sydney 5) (2 cabins)

We are looking forward to this trip and meeting everyone. Take care and see you soon.

Hey everyone!
Long time lurker, first time poster...but since we are paid off, I think it's safe to say we can be added to the list!

It's me (Cari 35--turning 36 ON THE CRUISE!!!!!) DH (SuperTim on the Disboards, Tim 31), DD 9 (Chloe), DD 6 (Addie) and also....my mother in law (Linda) and sister in law (Montana...age 13...and boy would I like to have a friend for her to pal around with on the trip!)

This is our third cruise, but my mother in law and Tana's first cruise. We are keeping this trip a secret from the kids. We are spending 8 days (our first family trip) at the World, then instead of going home, we are driving to the port.

We are super excited and keeping it from the kids is about to kill us, but I keep hanging on to that moment when they figure out where we are going. We told them we are going to Atlanta to the zoo and to CokeWorld, which we are...but then instead of going home, we are driving through the night to Orlando and hopefully with a little pixie dust :wizard: the kids will wake up in the parking lot of ASMo.

That's our story!

Alright guys, today's the day! Tell us what you were able to get booked for the cruise 75 days out. Remy? Palo? Excursions? Did you get a good arrival time?

We aren't doing Palo or Remy, this is our first cruise ever and I know there will be enough to keep us busy. I did want to get an early Port Arrival time, and we were able to get 11am (which is still available as I'm writing this). The cabanas are all sold out for both CC days (not that we were planning to get one).

We booked one Palo dinner, 10 hours of nursery, and got the 11 a.m. port arrival time. So excited!!!!

No excursions for us--we are planning on going to Ardastra Gardens in Nassau on our own and maybe stop by the Fish Fry and the Pirate Museum. (Our backup plan for Nassau in case we didn't get to the beach on Castaway Cay due to weather is to get a day pass at the Sheraton in Nassau).

Hi Christie--I'm thinking about making my boys shirts for Pirate night. I made my kids and their cousins 2 shirts each for our last trip to WDW in 2010. They turned out alright. The iron-ons did start to fade and peel but it was after several washings. They were pretty cheap to make--got designs from the DIS boards DISign board and bought t-shirts on sale at Michael's. I think the iron-ons I used were from Michael's too.

That's cool! I'll take you off the list. Just so you know, I'm not making anything home made or spending tons of money on my FE gifts, so if you change your mind let me know! :)
