June 10, 2006 Cruise Thread CONTINUED

Anybody reading please say a prayer for Scott early Monday morning. He has a promising job interview. There are also a few other nibbles where headhunters have put his resume in for some jobs recently posted.

:worship: Please Lord bless him to find a fulfilling job that will use his God given talents & challenge his intellect.

No interview today, but one on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. & a strong possibility of another "real" interview--as opposed to the phone interviews that are so hard to get past.

I saved my 1,500 post for you guys!
Thanks for any prayers said for Scott. Have a great week everyone.

Hello Everyone!

Disney World was wonderful! We really had a great trip! I'll let Christine fill you in on the details. It was awesome to have her best friend along with us!

Mary, I think Scott is in an interview as I type this, and I am sending prayers his way. Keep us posted.

Kay, thanks for the trip report & pictures - looks like a great adventure! You look fantastic!

Our big trips for the summer are behind us now. There are still a couple of weekends coming up, chasing TJ & the drum corps around the country. It's good to be home for awhile to un-bury my desk and get that basement put back together. Remember the basement remodel I've mentioned before? This is the SIXTH month. It's a good thing we like our contractor! Mostly, we just need to clean out our junk and paint, paint, paint.

Enjoy the second half of summer!
:grouphug:

Hi everyone! It has been way to long since I have posted. We have been so busy with camps, swimming, painting, visits to see family and I don't know what else. I never seem to get to the computer anymore. It is kind of cleansing. Come fall, I will have plenty of time on the computer with getting back to work, so the break is nice.

I just wanted to ask for special loving prayers to be sent to Charlene. I know that she would greatly appreciate them.

We are off to Boston on Friday and then to Cape Cop, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard... just John and me for 5 days. The girls are going down to their grandma and grandpa's for the week in Hot Springs Village. They are really looking forward to it.

The sad thing is that I only have one more week of summer vacation when we return. It went by so fast!!!

Hope everyone is well. Hugs friends!!

Thanks for the prayers for Scott. It was such a perfect fit. People w/in the company who interviewed him fought for him. In the end the final interviewer, according to what other said, may have been intimidated by Scott. Scott doesn't want to move up the big old corporate ladder anytime soon or maybe not at all. The account manager tried to explain that Scott has been out of work. He has a family to support. He's highly qualified for the job & is not anxious to move up to more stressful levels of managment. He had enough of that Motorola for years.

It's so disheartening. There've been very interviews. This job was a perfect fit & close to home. The guy at the top even pulled the requisition, so they're no longer looking to fill the position. Word from the inside is that that they did NOT fill it internally. Very wierd & sad.

Marion: It sounds like you are having a fun summer! No talk on this board of when school starts until it has to. I live in denial. I want to enjoy July w/o dreading August.

Charlene: Prayers coming your way!!! What's going on? Is there something specific we can focus our prayers on.

Dee: Our weekend was free last weekend, so we tried to do some massive cleanging. My kids protested. It's summer--we shouldn't have to do anywork. I'm thinking of not washing any of their laundry & when they run out of clean clothes. I'll tell them that I'm trying to have more fun. If I can't get more help around the house then I guess certain things won't get done....

Happy summer everyone!

Kay: I hope you've recovered enough to get back in the game. When's your next cruise???

hey everyone! i just got braces this morning.

they dont hurt that bad - just a little poking where the rubberbands will go later when i get them. i will only have then for a year and a half so that is very good news! most people i know have had them for at least 2 years. my brother had an expander and then braces so he had a longer treatment too.

im busy with colorguard and dance (only an hour a week) and enjoying time off from real dance and school. im excited for high school though!

have a good rest of the week!

hi everyone - checking in to say that I hope your summer is a good one.

it is going by way too fast.

been busy w/working at the hospital and being on the Board there are too many things to do ALL THE TIME. I must have been out of my mind to take on this - but I committed myself and have to follow through.

just took another class to work the primary poll on 8/26. even tho I had a class previously, every voting day has to start w/a new training class. this one was for 6 hours. new machines and paper ballot this time. should be very interesting.

been busy with g/babies also. had both of them in swimming classes at my house w/a private teacher last week. needless to say, that as a fun week. :lovestruc

next trip is 9/2 for the ABD Backstage Tour starting in LA and ending up in DL.

tried to get Dan and family to join in but that would mean taking Billy and Kristen out of school and that wouldn't be too good at the start of the school year.

am watching BB10 and it isn't too good this year. don't know why I aggravate myself with it.

hope everyone is having a great week

Christine--I'm glad to here your braces aren't too painful. Mine were!

Marion--I'm looking forward to next year's cruise & I just remembered I'll have your old room 5522.

Kay--I can't believe you're actually staying home for over a month. Swim lessons w/ the grandbabies sound delightful! :lovestruc I love when mine were that little in the pool. Liam started diving lessons this week. His back is a bit sore, but he denies it. He's got red marks on his back, but denies it from diving -- too funny. He loves it. Patrick is on a camping trip w/ Scott, so it's just Liam & I at home. Have you heard from Bill lately?

They posted that job Scott tried to get again w/ slightly different descriptions. The headhunter called & tried again to convince them that Scott would love the position & would not be bored. It's better than being at home--especially when we all go back to school. Maybe if they can't find anyone, they'll give him a shot. :sad2:

Thanks for the prayers! Happy summer everyone! :flower3:

Hey everyone,

All is well.

Marion that's for the prayer request.

Here's whats up. . .I have a high PTH (parathyroid level) which indicates growths on the pararthyroid. In 2005, I had the same thing. The only "cure" is surgery. We all have 4 parathroids and must keep 1. I can't remember if 1 or 2 were removed in 2005. Anyway, Paul and I are headed to UAB Medical in Birmingham this a.m. I'll see the endocrinologist (who will order test which will take several trips to Birmingham) and then be referred to the surgeon. At least, I'll be seeing doctors that I've seen before.

Mary. . .I'll keep Scott lifted up in prayer.

Kay. . . It is good to see you "slowing" down! You are one busy lady.

Marion. . .have a great trip.

We've been trying to plan a "getaway" for our anniversary but it been on hold with this doctor issue. Still trying to set up a Thanksgiving suprise for Stacy.

Summer went by fast! School starts for Stacy on August 11. We received her class assignment. She received the 2 teachers she wanted but not the homeroom assignment.

Love to all
Char

by any chance is anyone going to be in DL from Sept. 7th through the 11th??

where is everyone?????????????????????????????

hope all are well

Kay--I knew you'd had have to be on the move again soon. The kids keep bugging me when are we going to DL, but I keep putting if off to do a big trip to CA.

Char--I'll keep you in my prayers. Thank you for yours. That darn thyroid gland causes so much trouble for every woman I know practically. Two DFs have had it removed. Most of my friends, mom, aunts, and me, have had their thyroid go wacky after having kids. How is it affecting you overall?? Hormones? Fatigue? Women are tough! Hang in there.

Sorry I've been out of touch. I've been staying in the city a lot & Nana does not have cable let alone the internet. I've been cleaning out & handling estate issues w/ uncle's place downtown Chicago. Now, I'm home but busy b/c my Mom had surgery & is recovering here for a few weeks.

Scott's got a major job possib but it's a very different line of work. Keep your fingers crossed & pray that this could be a good fit.

I am in total denial of when "I" have to go back to school, but my darn kids own back to school shopping keeps reminding me I'm only weeks away.

Mary. . .Stacy would love several more weeks of summer. . .we had 5th grade open house on Tuesday! School starts on Monday!

We are headed to Savannah GA and Tybee Island for a long weekend before school starts and to celebrate our thirteen wedding anniversary. . .Hoping that Stacy won't be too tired on Monday morning! We plan to be home early afternoon on Sunday.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Char

YEA!. . .We've survived the first week of school!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Charlene

Sorry I haven't been in touch. My Mom had surgery to remove a cancerous growth in the back of her leg. The cancer is completely treatable not something to worry about. The problem is the skin graph is not taking well at all. They will probably need to redo it. She's been living w/us & it's been a rough ride. She'll probably be living w/ us until at least October when her sister arrives from Ireland. She can go back home then b/c my aunt will live w/ her.

School starts Thursday. I can't believe how early GA goes back. When do you get out? Maybe you guys have more breaks than we do.

The madness of the schoolyear is already picking up. We have the 1st three major fundraisers about to start soon: school, Cub Scouts, & a different one for boy scouts.

Charlene--How are you feeling? Any test results back yet? Take good care of yourself.

Kay--I promise I'm going to call one of these days. Stay as dry as you can w/ Fey? Fay? heading your way.

Happy back to school

Hi everyone!

I am sorry I have been MIA, I don't know where the days go. I have been back to work since last week. The girls started school today, so now our ever busy schedule really revs up. I don't have more than a minute to post right now, but will get back, hopefully soon with an update.

Hugs and prayers to everyone!

Hello!

We survived the 1st week of school and we're of to a good start this week! Stacy's 5th grade class does a year long unit on Mirco-economics. She is currently running for Mayor of her "town" Phillips Field. Election is tomorrow. She saids she realizes that this is just a popularity contest. The mayor and city counsel (which will be elected on Friday) will "assign" jobs for the remaining class members. They "earn" paycheck and loss "money" based on class attendance, uniforms (correct shoes, socks, belts etc.), recycling, "job" performance. At the end of the year, their "earned" money can purchase items at auction.(they have things given like TV's, MP3's, DVD's, rugs, movie tickets, bicycles) It is an incredible project.

Mary. . .I see the surgeon on August 26 in Birmingham. We'll make a decision about surgery or no surgery on that day. I feel certain that surgery will be scheduled. Over all I'm ok. . .tired, cranky, not able to sleep, (all symptoms of parathyroid disease)

Have a great week!

Charlene

Char--When my thyroid was wacky & the doctor didn't believe anything was wrong w/ me, I couldn't sleep so I found the DIS & All Ears for the 1st time. I learned :surfweb: so much about Disney that way. It also turned into me booking a trip to Disney for the millenium b/c I was so desperate to go after spending HOURS reading about it. I also almost booked a trip to Aruba too.

The micro-economics unit sounds fascinating. They don't do enough econ in IL as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck Char! You'll be in our prayers! :grouphug: I'm sure it will work out.

Marion--I feel your pain. My school waited until 2 weeks before school started to change our internet provider, change all the wireless servers, update several programs, etc. This equalled giant computer problems :headache: for the whole school.

Hello to all! Happy New School Year! :teacher:  :cheer2:

Stacy didn't make "mayor or city council". . .she was more upset that all the mayors are BOYS! (each home room has their own mayor and city council). . .one candidate was out of town on the election day so the teacher read his speech and he also WON! This weekend we are trying to decide what "job" to apply for in the town.

Mary. . .how is your mother? What about Scott's job?

We've booked a room at Disney for Thanksgiving. . .it's a surprise for Stacy. . .I want to tell her so badly! We have tickets that we bought years ago. . .so we're staying at a value resort for 6 night. . .for only under 600.00!

Rained all day today. . .tropical storm Fay is passing slowly through. . .currently strong winds and a tornado watch. . .it is going to be a long rainy night.

Marion. . .how was the girls first week of school?

I see the surgeon on Tuesday. . .I'll be going to Birmingham alone. . .my inlaws are out of town so Paul has to pick Stacy up at a friends after school.

Kay. . .where are you?????

Love to all
Charlene
