June 10, 2006 Cruise Thread CONTINUED

Hello Friends!

I just typed a nice, long reply and it disappeared!

I can't believe so many of you have started school already! We start this Wednesday. Been getting ready for that - spending a lot of time doing band stuff, since both kids are in it this year. Got to watch them perform at halftime last night, for the 1st football game.:cheer2:

We've also been working really hard on that basement. It's been such a huge undertaking! Wish we weren't such pack-rats!

Char, my thoughts will be with you this week - let us know how everything goes.

Marion, I thought you mentioned an eastern-seaboard trip with John. How was that? I thought it sounded like a wonderful idea!

Mary, I feel your pain about computers. Mine is getting overloaded and slow and just doesn't let me do everything I want to do. I think it needs to retire! Speaking of which, I hope there is good news about Scott and his job search!

Hi Kay! How did you get along with Faye?

Take care of yourselves!
:grouphug:

Good Morning all:

I'm here...............

Just been around like everyone else.

The TS, Fay, wasn't too bad in my area. We actually had more rain after she left the area than when she was here. I just had a new sprinkler system installed w/timer and that needed lots of rain, so my prayers were answered. :lmao: They dug almost the whole yard up.

Busy with the g/children during the summer. I had to pick them up from summer camp each day. Many days I had both of them. yay for me. ;)

here they are:

abbykaitlynmisc2008068.jpg

I love this pic of them sleeping together:

(that is my pillowcase of Abby when she was 3 mos. old - looks like 3 babies in the bed)

Busy working at the hospital. I love that. Helping so many people w/overloads.

As far as that goes, we have so many functions coming up and we are getting ready for them. There is a Board meetings every week. Three Balls/dinners to go to between now and January. Don't think I want to be on the Board after this year. Keeps me too busy.

Getting ready to leave for CA. the end of next week (this week). I never pack until the day before. No use having clothes all over.

I work the polls on Tuesday. Another long day. From 5:30 am until about 9 pm. Went for my training about 3 weeks ago. Before each Election/Primary, we have to go thru 6 hours training, even tho we had it previously. Sort of stupid, as we go thru the same thing each time. Oh well..........

Then I have training for the Nov. 4th voting also. That is in about 4 weeks.

School started last Wednesday here. 1st and 2nd day was cancelled due to TS, Fay. Wasn't that a bonus for the students !!!!

Good news from the surgeon on Tuesday. . .no surgery!
It is a calcium and vitamin D issue. I'm currently taking both and my levels are almost "normal". (I've been on then for about 3 months). The surgeon said he has seen an increase in parathyroid levels and wondered why? He checked is patients records and most with issues (like mine) have had gastric bypass.

Marion. . .I enjoyed talking with you on Tuesday.

Lots of rain this week from tropical Storm Fay. . .now we get Gustav! YEA more rain!:rotfl:

We've changed our Disney plans again but we're still going!

Have a great weekend everyone!

so. . .any suggestion for a dinner night at WDW in November? We've started the tradition of trying dinner at one of the resort restaurants. (done Boma, Artist Point, Ohana) We are thinking about 1900 Park Fare or totally different Hoop-Dee-Doo (more for Stacy) But we are totally open to suggestions.

Marion. . .meet us in Nashville the first weekend in October! Paul's beloved Auburn Tigers will be playing football agains Vanderbilt. My brother in law is a Vandy fan. It is always a interesting weekend for them.

Love to all
Char

had a wonderful time

Also I toured the Queen Mary at Long Beach. She was a beautiful ship.

Hi Mary:

thanks for calling. nice to hear from you. hope all goes well. hope I helped a little.

Hello Everyone!

We've been busy with school, dance, band rehearsals, band performances, band competitions, band booster club... you get the picture.

I think Christine likes high school. Her 1st two classes are dance, so that's a good way to start each day, and she really likes the program.
I think TJ is having a pretty good senior year. Half of his classes are music related, so I think that's good incentive for him.

Kay, my junior prom was on the Queen Mary! She really is beautiful!

I'm glad everyone has weathered the storms ok. Has anyone heard from Kim? I've been a bit worried about them with flooding and such. I was surprised at the damage HERE from Gustav. Not much rain, but plenty of wind. Nothing more than a few branches and a billion twigs in our yard, but there were lots of trees blown down all over Ohio. We were only without power for 4 & 1/2 hours - some people were without for a week. Our kids actually got a day off school, because the district office and enough schools had no power, plus the busses couldn't get through tree-blocked streets.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy!
Happy Fall, Y'All!
:grouphug:

Hi everyone!

Kay- I did get your message, but not until late yesterday and then forgot to call you because I was running around with the kids. It's weird how that silly cell phone sometimes doesn't get the messages to me until a day later. Better late than never though. Really weird about the mail. I have no idea how that happened. Maybe it was send just so we could all reconnect. I was thinking about everyone this week and feeling bad for not keeping up with our board. I enjoyed your pictures of your trip- thanks for sharing them with us!

We have been ultra busy this fall. Both girls are very active in school and sports stuff. John's parents are living with us through Christmas, so that is a big adjustment.

The beginning of the school year has been extra busy for me, but time is flying by because of it.

John and I are going to Kauai the first full week of November as part of a company reward that he earned, so we are looking forward to that!

I haven't talked to Kim lately, but we were also effected by Ike. We had flash flooding that was terrible in my area. I didn't hear of too many problems in our areas though, so hopefully she is fine too!

Hope everyone is doing well. Post when you can!:grouphug:

Good Friday Everyone.

Well, all is well here. Busy with work and school. (and planning suprise trips!)

Marion have a great time in Kauai! Did your in-laws sell their home in Arkansas?

I applied to be a Disney Mom. . .Stacy thinks that would be cool.

Char

Hi Charlene- ment to send you an email to check in on you, but I don't seem to have any "me" time lately- so I am going to sneak this in before I start class.

What is a "Disney Mom"? I am not sure what that is, but sure sounds like it could be fun.

John is getting a new job, still with Microsoft, but a different division of the organization. He seems happy about it.

My brother in law is taking my sister and their girl's to Tampa today to look at things. He was offered a new job there, so they are trying to decide what to do. It would be a big change from Chicago. I am happy for them, but hate that they would be farther away. It does give us an excuse to go to Florida more often, if it happens.

That's it for me, everyone have a great Friday and wonderful weekend!

I didn't get chosen as a Disney Mom:confused3 ! They just don't realize what a wonderful Disney Mom I already am!

Our surprise trip in November is still a surprise. . .the secret is killing me!. . . It is hard to encourage Stacy to use her money wisely (meaning SAVE IT) when she doesn't know why she needs to save it. . .Oh well, just a few more weeks.

All is well here. . .except for the mouse in our den last night :scared1: Freaked me out! I can't help but wonder where it is! DH and I tried to force it out the door. . . better outside than inside. . so says me!. . .however it ran toward the door but we never saw it go out. . .now it is no where to be found!

Tonight is Trunk or Treat at church. . .I've made a Hannah Montana top for DD to wear. . .she is wearing leggings, a short skirt. . .etc. . .

Have a great week.

Char

Oh man - We know you are a "DISNEY MOM" - no matter if they don't think so................

Glad someone posted on our thread.

HOW IS EVERYONE????????????????

All is good w/me. Just still doing my volunteer work and love it.

I thought I was going to have Christmas at home this year, but I'll be spending it at WDW at the Grand Floridian with my son and his family. We will be there for a whole week and have each day planned already. Should e loads of fun. My 2 DD's aren't too happy that I won't be home that week, but they have a chance to go and are choosing not to go that week.

Next Tuesday is a big day for everyone. I'll be working the polls again. We expect to be super, super busy all day from open till close. Have to be there at 5:30 am to set up and get ready and open the doors at 7 am. Guess who is going to bed early on Monday. :rolleyes1

Have to get ready and go down to DD's house for supper. My ex is going to be there and I'm sure it will be a "fun" night. Really, it will be fine.. just kidding.

Hope everyone is having a great start for the Holiday Season.:santa: :santa:

Hi Kay and all of my DIS friends!:cool1:

We have been very busy here with soccer, volleyball and girl scouts- not to mention all of the homework of a 2nd and 4th grader. We are definitely keeping busy.

John and I are off to Kauai next week:banana: . John's district earned this trip as a reward for their performance this past year :beach: . We leave on Sunday and head home late Thursday night on the red eye:coffee: .

It should be an adventure. We have all of our meals paid for and they provide one activity. We chose the snorkel/sail:boat: , but may switch to the movie tour and see the sites from lots of the movies.:happytv: We also are going to have an afternoon of a "couples escape massage". The best part is that it's all paid for by the company. Gonna miss the girls, but the break is really coming at a good time.

My sister and her family are going to be moving from Chicago to Tampa after the new year, so I guess we will be going to Florida more often once they get there.pixiedust:

Kay. . .have you ever seen the ICE display at the Gaylord Palm during the holiday season? You can see it on their website www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-palms
We are planning on seeing it in November. . .we'll purchase out tickets this weekend.

Marion. . .have a wonderful trip!

Char

Hi Char:

No, I have never seen the ice display at Gaylord Palms. It has to be awesome. That whole complex is awesome, tho. Harry and I have walked around it so many times.

Hi Marion:

that is wonderful that your sister is moving to Tampa. Another reason for you to visit the area.

I've been terribly sick with a cold for 3 weeks now. Went to Dr. again today. I have to make sure it doesn't go into Pneumonia again. In June I was in the hospital for 6 days w/double pneumonia and I don't think I have really gotten well since then. But I keep going and doing and that probably does not help. Since I work in the Nursing Network at the hospital, the nurses watch me like a hawk all the time. I have to act like I am OK but when I am not really OK, they sure know it.

Tomorrow night I'm going down to the youngest DD's house for trick or treat with the 2 yo g/baby. Closing my house up and keeping all the lights off so no one comes to the door. Guess I am a grinch for Halloween. :lmao:
I haven't liked Halloween night for many years now. Too many bad older teenagers ruining it.............. Oh well, just my 2 cens...:confused3

Have a great w/end everyone.

Hope Everyone has had a good experience in voting today!
I thought the lines would be long. . .I was the only person in the last name "a-b" line! YEA!

Hey. . .we were offered the disney dining plan for our upcoming trip for about 104.00 per person for 6 days! It is usually about 38.00 per night.. . we took the deal. . .however we've found most of the place we have tried for reservations are booked!:sad2: We've got some booked but not what we really wanted. . .so our entire stay is less than 1400.00! (room, tickets & meals). . .I think we got a great deal!

Kay. . .get some rest after working the election

Marion. . .enjoy Hawaii!

Have a great week!
Char

yes, Char, that is a great deal. I saw that also and it ends on 12/20, I think. That's a great price you are getting for everything. Enjoy to the fullest.

We don't arrive until 12/21 and it is not offered then. Also, a lot of the dining places are booked already. We called last week also and got most of what we wanted, but w/o the dining plan. Some of our meals we are eating at some friends of mine at Disney so it wasn't so bad for us to get what we wanted.

Aw, yes, the election. Yesterday was a very long day but it wasn't as bad as everyone thought. At 5:30 am, our line had about 200 people and, of course, they had to wait until 7 am. Our break came about Noon and after that it was just steady, no line at all. It was nice then. We shut the doors at exactly 7 pm and we took everything down and cleaned up and I was out of there by 7:45 pm. Good day, all in all.

Today I'm gonna rest and not work until tomorrow. My Director told me not to even think about coming in.

Marion: yes, enjoy Hawaii.

OK - I'm off to do chores. I have a Church meeting at the house on Friday and I have to finalize everything for that. I expect to have about 20 people here.

Hello Everyone:

Looks like we totally dropped off the site. LOL

Guess everyone is very busy with this time of the year. I know I have been.

With medical problems and the hospital work - never a time to be alone.

Been in the hospital 3 times in November - Going to see some specialists next week for some tests and evaluations to see what our remedy is.

Today is our Annual Christmas Luncheon for the hospital Auxillary and I was Co-Chairman and that has kept us terribly busy preparing for that. It is at one of our Country Clubs and it will be loads of fun.

I'll also be at Disney at the Grand Floridian from 12/21 thru 12/28 with my son and his family. (Oops, said that in the post below - sorry) Can't wait for that one...............

Char: did you have a great time at Disney on your trip?? Tell us about it when you get a chance.

OK - time for me to put the final touches on everything. Have a great week everyone.
