June 1, 2008-Wonder Double-Dip

Hey All June DD'ers! We just got back from the mother's day first double to Castaway Cay! Lots of fun! FYI... first day at CC was really crowded so get there early BUT the second day it was DEAD. So dead that we got a hammock and our pick of places to hang. IT WAS LIKE THAT ALL DAY! This was my 5th Disney Cruise and I was shocked. We had beautiful weather and calm seas. Word was that a lot of the ship was staying on due to:

a) Laundry and getting ready for park visits after we got back
b) Sunburn/Hangover from Pirate Party the night before
c) A lot of stuff going on the ship (there was the princess autograph and photo sessions at 8:30am among other things)

So enjoy!
Looking forward to my next cruise in '09!

Hello to Everyone -
I haven't posted to our thread in months - but I, too, just read through all the posts from day 1. Work, school, and after-school activities have been taking over all my DIS time!

We've been to Nassau before, but never to Paradise Island. Yesterday, I booked a room at the Comfort Suites for use of all the Atlantis facilities for only $170 including taxes. (I've been PMing a DISer who's done this a couple of times, so I feel comfortable making the ressies) We are planning to see the aquarium and try out all the water slides and the lazy river.

My kids finish school this Friday the 23rd, so we'll be in full vacation mode!

We're headed down on Saturday to the Radisson- hoping to arrive from Atlanta in time to see the Shuttle launch. Anyone know about the crowds and traffic if we decide to try and see the launch from the beach?

Does anyone else feel odd that Formal night is during Toy Story the Musical and Pirate Night is during Golden Mickeys? Whose idea was that?

Hmmm, forgot that was an adult only area for some odd reason!

I personally like the idea of meeting on the hidden veranda on deck 7 as well.

How do we find it if it is "hidden"?

TinkRN, thanks for posting your finding of the trip report. Those navigators are great for us newbies.

On deck 7 go all the way aft. There are doors leading out to the back of the ship and maybe a dozen lounge chairs. Very nice area.

Go to the castawayclub website;
then click on:

Deck 7 and 8 "Secret" Areas (Top left of screen under Most Popular Links)

This tells you where the secret areas are with pictures.

Are we talking about the castawayclub site on the offical website or some other website?

Thanks so much for the link to the Double Dip Navigators! Makes it so much easier for the obsessive planner (like me!) to plan out our days!

10 days and I am off to the House of Mouse!! WooHoo!!!!

All of my clothes are layed out now but not yet packed in a suitcase. Figure I will finish that up this weekend. It's kind of nice having the long weekend before the cruise so we have extra time to do the last minute stuff. :)

Jim

Jim may be packed, but Hannah and I still have a couple of loads of laundry to do before we can be completely ready to go. Hannah still hasn't decided what she's wearing for dress-up night - she has some formal gowns she doesn't get that much of an opportunity to wear, so I'm of a mind to let her pick out whatever she wants, even if it means she's overdressed - she's 6, she won't know the difference!

I think I will put my foot down on her bringing her tiara, though. princess: We'll save that for Formal night on a 7-nighter! :rotfl:

I do have my FE gifts pretty much done, and most of our non-clothing essentials are ready to go. Last night I even cleared out the cards for the digital camera, so now I have enough space to take probably 2000+ photos, which will be great, if I want to spend my whole vacation glued to the viewfinder of my camera!:rotfl2: I keep telling Jim I need more memory cards for the camera, but for some reason, he seems to think we're fine :rolleyes1

I haven't posted in a while, either. The last month or so has been so busy with end of the year school projects, make-up soccer games due to all the rain we have had, birthdays, etc. I have started putting clothes out but nothing is packed yet. My kids go to school until next Friday, so we are pushing it.

I hope everyone who is at the port on Sat. enjoys the shuttle launch. We are not flying in until Sun. morning.

Thanks for posting the Navigators!

We are going to the Pirate Museum on the Nassau day and may try to see Prince Caspian that day since it is showing now on the ship.

We are staying in Orlando for 3 days after the cruise. We were going to go to Universal, but changed our plans and decided to take advantage of free Sea World tickets (my dad and sister work for AB). We are staying at the Renaissance right across the street and may also go to Aquatica, the new Sea World water park. Anyone have any experience with this hotel or new park?

We are not doing a fish extender, but will try to make the meet. Hope everyone has a great cruise!

Good morning everyone! We have started to pack... my girls clothes are in the suitcase(so they can't wear them before we leave!) I am torn on what to pack for myself..I have read it is easy to overpack..

Another question.... we are staying overnight on Sat so what time should we plan to get to the port? I have also read that they hand out boarding passes based on how you check in(unless you are cat 1-3) I was thinking 10:45am does that sound too early or too late?

Have a good day everyone....10 days to go
Melissa

I have been to auqutica before and its nice. Its very small and gets busy fast so you want to be there first thing in the morning when it opens. I recommend that you get in line immediately for the dolphin plunge and then go get chairs on the beach. I find the park to be over hyped but still fun. Disney's Water parks are better in MHO. Have fun.

So I have no idea what I am packing! Anyone else not packed yet?

I haven't started packing yet. I am gathering some items a little at a time and just throwing them in the beach bag right now. I will have to organize it all later. I am starting to write a list of the things I should put in my carry on.:cool1:
