June 1, 2008 7-Night Mexican Riviera Cruise All Aboard is now back on Land

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted in a while but I finally caught up on all the posts from our thread.

Wow, I am SO excited!!!!

Are the kids' ages on the first post the ages that they will be on the cruise? I must have put the wrong ages down because only one of them is the correct age at the time of the cruise. Can we fix it? These are the ages our kids will be: dd11, dd 9, ds(will start out being 6 but will celebrate his 7th birthday on the cruise!!) and dd3.

We live about 2 1/2 hours away from San Pedro but bil and sil live in Torrance so we'll leave from their house that morning. Maybe we'll rent a limo? We'll be with them and another bil from San Francisco.

Take care!

Yes, we can fix it and it is fixed already. That would be fun to take a limo. That is what we do to the airport. I am sur the kids would love it to.

take care

Good Morning All!...
:welcome: Mike and family! :welcome:

Flo, I am totally jealous of your Mickey chandlier.. it is TOO cute.

My DSiL is on his way to Iraq again.
He left yesterday and it was a very sad goodbye, our thoughts and prayers are with him until he returns.
He will be gone up to 10 months. He should be back just in time for the cruise.
My DD and I would really appreciate it if everyone could please lift him in prayer for a safe return.

Sandy,
I totally agree with Cindy! I got goose bumps seeing those pictures. Our thoughts, prayers and hugs are with you your family, Brandy and baby. I am very grateful to him for keeping this country safe. Can not wait to meet him and thank him in person on the cruise. Also, your daughter for being so brave because I am sure this is not easy for her.

OMG Flo... those are SO cute... are these your new cabinets? They look great. Can't wait to see what else you've got.

As far as getting a Mickey Chandlier goes...
this is a sore subject in my house. My DH would freak if I bought a NEW chandlier as I just got him to change ours from gold to pewter a few months ago. He is of the mind set that if it still works, there isn't anything wrong with it and it doesn't need changing. I had to put the chandlier in the cart MYSELF for him to say "you REALLY want to change it? The old one still works!?" In fact, we still have a gold ceiling fan in the living room because it "still works". I explained to him that I want to change out all the gold in the house to pewter and he agreed that it looked nice, but everything still works... so as soon as it doesn't work, we can change it. So, I still have gold door knobs throughout the house, including the front door, and one last gold ceiling fan in the living room. The rest of the house thankfully has pewter nobs and fans and chandliers. It has taken about 2 years to get the pewter things that I have... the last ceiling fan and the door knobs are a sore subject between us, but I'm hoping it will happen sometime this YEAR. Maybe I"ll buy them for myself for Christmas! :rotfl:

Thank you for your kind words regarding my SIL, he is a wonderful young man and our hero.

Yes, those are my new cabinets.

I also know what you mean about sore subjects. You have to pick your batters. I like the idea on how to get the rest of the pewter.

Have a good weekend.

OK... :beach: So Thursday was swim day and the kiddie pools are set up in the back yard for the kids to swim in. It was a very hot day so just before I get the kids out of the water, I close up the house and turn on the air conditioner. I close the shades to darken the rooms to help cool off the house. I turn on the kid nap music as mom & Brandy are getting lunch ready. Trae starts draining the pool by unpluging the drain and putting a rock on the plug to hold it open. Everything is working out smoothly as it always does on swim day.

After lunch, Brandy has taken her kids back to her house, Trae went along to help her, and mom is doing dishes in the cool house with the drawn shades.... I go outside to finish hanging up wet bathing suits :laundy:and put away the pools. The big pool is pretty much empty by now so I step in it to grab the far side to pull towards me to empty the last 5 inches of water. As I'm pulling the pool towards me the water spills out onto the brick ground and as it does so, it is almost totally empty and I just need to flip it completely to finish it off.. as I step out of the pool, I first make sure that I have a firm footing cause I dont' want to slip and fall and get all wet. So with my foot firmly planted out of the pool, I give the pool a big tug and put all my strength into pulling the pool towards me and as I do, my foots stays planted but, (there's always a but isn't there) but the rest of my upper leg moves sideways OFF of the bottom portion of my leg... sort of detached at the knee... ""PAIN" !!!! :scared: So I scream and instantly drop to the ground and continue screaming and writhing in pain and agony on the ground.... in the water that I just dumped out of the pool... looking back now, it is very funny as I think I probably looked like a fish flopping around after it fell out of the bowl.... anyway, there I lay, crying, all wet, out on the patio in the sun, in about an inch of water and NO ONE is coming to help me!... I looked towards the house and it is all closed up, the shades are all drawn and the music is playing inside so I know that mom could not have heard me screaming.

So I start laughing and lay there in my puddle of water clutching my leg and just laugh for a good 5 minutes. I finally feel good enough to try to get up, my leg feels better, just my toes are tingling and the knee really isn't hurting very much so I figure I am ok. I stand up hop over to the iron arch way that is at the end of the brick patio and the beginning of the cement patio and so much closer to the house. As I stand there, holding on the the arch for support, I decide that my leg really doesn't hurt and that it is probalby fine and I should try it out and see if it is ok..... bad mistake on my part... I put my foot down and put my weight on it and AGAIN, it seems to disconnect at the knee and slips off and pops and snaps and crackles all over the place and again I scream but this time I manage to hang onto the archway so I don't fall. Since I'm closer to the house now, mom heard me scream and came running out... "What's WRONG, Oh NO.. here, ...let me carry you" as she tries to put her arms around and under me...! LET ME CARRY YOU! I out weigh mom by like 100 pounds, she would end up on the ground with me if she carried me, I brushed her off and told her to leave me and I'd be ok and she kept trying to help me and finally said "WHERE IS TRAE?" all angry like cause he wasn't here helping. I reminded her that Trae went with Brandy to help her so she goes to the phone to call him. He immediately shows up and carries me in the house and as I sit there crying Trae decides that I need to go to the hospital. He dials Jody's cell number and hands me the phone and he then goes into the garage to look for the crutches.(Jody is fishing wth Aunt Memaw and Uncle Papaw) as I'm telling Jody what happened, he yells "WHERE is Trae?" just like mom had... all upset that Trae is not attached to my hip 24/7. I explain where Trae is and how he carried me into the house and is going to take me to the hospital. So Jody calms down and wants to be picked up on our way to the hospital.

Long story short... I get to the hospital, get x-rays and poked and prodded and my leg isn't broken, just probably torn ligaments, I need to follow up with my doctor and get an MRI to see what kind of damage there is... so I'm on crutches and my knee is ALL swollen and I can't walk or lay or sit comfortably. Going to the potty is a real experience since I can't bend my leg and getting into the tub is another whole story. Luckily I have not put my weight on my leg as I am sure that I would end up falling again. It is very painful when ever I move it. I'm on Motrin and Ice and Claritin as my allergies are also acting up. Go figure. The only good thing is that I have control of the tv and I get to hold Lily all day. :happytv:

OH!! My God Sandy! I feel so bad for you!;) One good thing is you have control of the:happytv: . I hope you feel better. I like your coment about what you looked like. That is something I would say. I would also lay on the ground laughing! Take care of yourself. Glad it is not broken, but I have toren ligiments in my knee and that is no picnic either.

Sandy,
Just checking to see how you are doing? Better I hope.

Thanks Flo, I'm doing well enough, my allergies are bothering me more than anything else.
I've been coughing so much that I have completely lost my voice.
I now have a walkie-talkie to page my DH when I need something cause no one can hear me! :rotfl:
I have not put any weight on my leg yet and I really don't even want to try it yet. Too Scared to try.
I am wearing a brace from the drug store and it helps to keep the knee stable so at least I feel
comfortable when I move around... although I'm not doing much of that either.
Luckily, I have plenty of help to keep me from needing to move around too much. :happytv:

Tomorrow I'll call my doctor and see when I can get in to get an MRI to see what kind of damage I've sustained.
Wish me luck.
As long as I'm OK for next June is all I care about. :boat:

Sandy,
I know what you mean about being scared, we don't heal as much as we used to either. The allergies are terrible this year. I had a head ache yesterdy that I could not get rid of. I am taking singulair because the other medicanes do not play nice with my blood pressuer medicine.
I was thinking the same think as long as you are well in June of 2008.:flower3:
Let us know who the doctor goes.
