Following on from Lee's thread on summer months in Florida, we are going in July this year ,week after independence , never having been at that time only sep and oct , can I ask about crowds, humidity etc ?
We are staying on site , planning to use emh , is this wise ? Any tips hints would be welcome.

Same goes for us, we fly out 8th July, Its the best time of year for us this time as eldest DD leaves 6th form yougest DD finishes her GCSE's in June. So they will both be left school for the summer by then.
We've been at Easter (April) and October half term in the past.

Get to parks early and a break in the afternoon when the parks are busiest and hottest

Our last trip in 2009 was in July with previos trips in Oct. It was much hotterand humid but I found it easy to manage, my eldest struggled with the heat but he's still keen to return this year. We were lucky there were very few downpours.
On disney days we always went to the parks early -I think so we were there and ready before EMH began then left around noon for R and R then back to the parks in the evening for late opening hours. Having the much longer park hours in July is great.

We LOVE July in Disney. We stay onsite. Plan out your EMH, go early and see the rope drops. We leave parks around noon, eating a light lunch either at the park or back at resort. Play in pool and take a nap if needed. Get back to for dinner reservations around 5 pm right around the time the thunderstorms are finishing and a lot of people have left. Eat dinner then stay in park with EMH that night. My kids thought it was great to be riding Space mountain at 2 am. Off to be and do it again the next day.

Plan it out to what you think your family can handle, as long as my kids (8 and 9) take a nap they are good to stay up late then wake up early. Hot and humid is 100% true, light clothing, hats, sunscreen, and fluids throughout the day. Body Glide for those areas that get chaffed easy: feet, and thighs.

July is great in my opinion because the parks are open so late. During the day all the misters, fans, water fountain play areas and a/c are open and working great! Have fun!!!

Thanks to everyone for replying , this all sounds sensible advice so let the planning commence.

One more question do the parks ever reach capacity that it would be hard coming back in later ?

Many thanks , just nervous of going in July and not getting the most out of it, usually go in sept and oct and that's fab, manageable with weather and crowds. Thanks for al help.

We always go last week in june / first two weeks of july.

The crowds really aren't that bad, although, you may think so coming from a quieter time of the year.

As has been said, if you do things properly, knowing you won't get everything done, getting to parks for opening and making most of EMH and fastpass then you'll be fine. We normally go in first thing - no point going in later as will be busier - and come back to riverside around half 10 time - pool and then room in the middle of the day. Normally go out to parks tea time for evening.

There is no point going for rides in evening, as no fastpasses and will be high standby lines. That teatime - fireworks time is the time for shopping and shows - philharmagic etc. Not sure where you go to watch Illuminations from, but if it is the Rose and Crown then you really got to be there for 7 to get seats.

It will be hot and humid, but we've never found it too much - you will of course if walking around the parks in the middle of the day. Expect the thunderstorms in the afternoon, which usually do clear through quite quickly, but sometimes will linger into the evening.

The only parks to reach capacity in july are blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon along with MK on the 4th. However, that isnt a problem as for the last 7 years they've shown the MK4th show on the 3rd and we go then and to EPCOT on the 4th. This year there is a whole week of July 4th events and fireworks on the cards.
