We are trying to figure out if we should go in July or the fall to WDW.
I see the temps are usually 92 degrees in July and 82 in the fall.
The last time we went was in late July early Aug and it was over 103 deg in the MK.... I remember I didn't care about stuff because I was so HOT I couldn't even think! My shirt was soaking wet and I had sweat POURING down my back and I got sick from going into the cold a/c on the rides while i was soaking wet.

We are excited to go and were thinking of having fun this summer instead...
What is the typical weather there in late July?
Any good tips on staying cool?

You should go in the fall, no question about it. The only people who should go during the summer are those who have no other choice.

You described it (typically) in your first paragraph above.

Hot and humid.

You kinda seemed to already have answered our own question:rotfl:

We always have went the summer because quite honestly, we could not bring ourselves to pull kids out of school (something I would definitely have handled differently)

June, July and August are blooming hot and I don 't like to be hot. Last trip, it was actual,y cool (for July) in the am and evening. MK and DHS aren't a problem in heat because all the attractions themselves are cool. AK is always hotter than anywhere else (someone once told me this is because AK is actually built on higher ground and all the generators are directly below the park...don't know how true it is). The only issue in EPCOT is Future World (I've always wondered why is there NO SHADE in that part of EPCOT?)

We enjoy going in the summer because the parks are open later (check park
hours for Oct), we always take resort breaks in the afternoon and to us, summer means vacation. Now that the kids are older, they don't want to go to WDW for a week then back to school the very next day.

Be aware that even September and October can be super-hot and humid. When you see "82 degrees" listed for those months, that's the average -- many days are much hotter than 82.

I was there in mid-October 2009 and it was sweltering. Mid-90s every day and very humid. If you're looking for comfortable weather, you might be better off with November!

If you have the choice, go during the fall. There is a noticeable drop in both temperature and humidity and depending on when exactly in the fall you're talking about, the crowds are some of the lowest you'll see at WDW. (Though the busier fall times still don't reach peak July-tour group sized crowds)

If you do decide to brave the summer again, make sure to enjoy lots of air conditioned shows. You can get free cups of ice cold tap water anywhere on property that sells fountain drinks (if the taste bothers you, I've heard bringing flavor packets like crystal light can help) and some locations will even give you large cups as opposed to little ones.

When at the parks with my family, my dad always liked to keep a cold, damp washcloth on the back of his neck (he calls it 'the temperature center of the body' :confused3) and swears by that - we almost always traveled during the summer so I hope this helps :)

I would say if you can avoid July then do so. Yes it is hot! It does help by going first thing at rope drop and leaving midday for a swim break.
We have no choice but to go when school is out since my husband and I are both teachers.
What makes me nervoes is that Sept can be hot as well but the crowds may be lighter!

Of course it is hot and humid in Orlando during the summer. Crowded, too. You already described that.

It's too hot for me. Some people say a hot day at WDW is better than a regular day at home. Not me. Don't like it, won't suffer it.

But some people like it. Some prefer it. It's just a personal preference.

I guess we'll wait . Although i want to go TOMORROW!
Thx for advice

You might do a little research on when temps actually start to cool down. September is still hotter than blazes, and I think you'll find that October is still plenty warm in central Fla. If you're really looking for cool temps, try November. :earsboy:

I am booked for SEP, but am jonesing for a Disney fix..... I always try to shove a square peg into a round hole and sneek in a quick trip. I did it once, and put it all on my cc. New that it was a mistake, and went anyway....:confused3

Wait for the fall... still hot, but less crowded.... and less guilt!:goodvibes

You can get temperatures in the 90-96 range anytime from May through October,it can even hit 90 in November and April which we have already experienced a couple of days this month. The one difference from 90 in April or November is the lower humidity which makes it a lot more tolerable, once we get into June the humidity just starts getting worse and worse and won't let up until mid October.Another plus about Spring and Fall versus Summer is that there's less chance of rain and lower temperatures, look at the last couple of days,we were at Disney over the weekend and it actually got very hot and sticky,it didn't hit 90 but we were sweating pretty good. Then the clouds rolled in and brought huge wind gusts and rain and two days later after our "WET" trip was over Orlando had beautiful weather,no clouds and highs in the 70's,that won't happen in July.I won't discourage you from going in July but just be prepared for heat, humidity and rain, take breaks and if you get a day with little chance of rain go to the waterparks,in my opinion the best thing you can do in the summer.I was at Aquatica about 2 years ago on a 97 degree day where the heat index hit 115.If I would have been at the theme parks I would have been sweating all over the place, instead at the waterparks as you're continuously going in and out of water you never feel the heat, then you go up the slide towers and you get that extra breeze up there that feels great.

I was just about to post the same thing. We also were there for the Oct. heatwave. We go the first week of Oct. each year, and that week in 2009 was by far the most miserable I've ever been at WDW. I remember the weather folks for the local tv stations were saying that the weather was more typical of July.

Happily 2010 and 2011 were beautiful! Low to mid 80s, low humidity. Hoping for the same again this year!

Yep that most definitely was a hot October, we got married at Celebration on 8th October 2009 and to be stood outside in a big wedding dress for me and suit for my husband was very hard work! It was soooooo hot and humid! Still a lovely day but not the typical October weather we had encountered the previous 8 Octobers!

For the first time, we're visiting in June/July this year and not overly excited about the hot and humid weather but it might be our only chance this year due to other commitments! Happy for lots of pool time at AKL :woohoo:

I've also been on a 103 day, in fact there were four days where it was around the 100 mark. Not fun.

Hoping June will be better :) but either way, there's plenty of chances to cool off, and we head to the hotel at the height of the sun and heat anyway!

It all depends on the person. The heat does not bother me at all. In fact I enjoy it.

I would guess the weather in July this year will be the same as it was the last July that you were there.

I remember going as a child in July, it was blazing hot!!! But we still had loads of fun. As an adult, we have taken all of our trips in anything but the summer months, but this year summer is our only option!!! So, we are going....because I'd rather be hot at Disney than not go at all!!! :goodvibes

We are faced with a simple choice for next year and the following year (having enjoyed April/May and September/October trips over the past 5 years). Our choice is simple: July or August or don't go. To us it's a no brainer - we will go in the heat. However, as we have done up until now when we HAVE had the choice, the smart option has been to go with the more bearable (and cheaper) seasons. I would rather wait if it were an option next year and it's only because we no longer have an choice when to go. If you have that option, use it :goodvibes

These threads crack me up! Reading them you would think that your flesh will melt off the second you step outside! ;)

Yes its hot, but it is also quite doable! Keep it in perspective, its hot in a lot of places where people vacation in the summer (NY City, Philadelphia, Washington DC), and Orlando is really no different.

I actually find WDW much easier to visit in the summer, then Bush Gardens in Williamsburg or Six Flags in NJ because most of the lines and experiences are indoors and in AC.

Other than walking from ride to ride, and waiting on parades and fireworks and such you really are spending the majority of your time inside.

If you are smart about it by keeping hydrated, wearing sunscreen, wearing breathable light-colored clothing, than you can have a wonderful WDW vacation in July!

We went at the end of September thinking it be "fall" like weather, HA! Its was so darn hot and humid!! If possible early November is nice but the 1st week of December is even better.
