Why did we move so far away from Disneyland?

Hi all! We've made our reservations and all for the birthday weekend (July 16 - 18)! We've been to Disneyland on most of the birthdays, especially the landmark ones, since their 25th. They have been kinda disappointing recently, so I was wondering if there was any word on what they will be doing this year. Is there anything special, besides the usual rededication, planned for the 17th? With two small kids, the more we know and can plan ahead, the better!

Thanks!

Kathleen

The castle looks wonderful, all decked out. You'll note many things have received a new coat of paint. Keep your eyes out for the gilded ride vehicles out front of many of the original park attactractions. A fun thing to do is to keep your eyes out for the Mickey's with 50 on them! There are 50 of them scattered about Disneyland.
Don't miss the fire works show this year (I recommend viewing it from the castle's side). And definately catch the new Disneyland afternoon parade! :)
The Block Party Bash in DCA. will be really fun for kids who love the pixar/disney movies or love to dance and move.

A few months ago Disney sold special packages for these dates. There hasn't been any word of any special parties. But there will be seminars and merchandise auctions at the hotels. I think the 18 month long celebration is replacing the usualy July 17 activities.
