We are DVC members and WDW Pr. Ann passholders so CA will be a new experience for our family. My DH and I were at DL and Knottsberry about 15 years ago. This will be our 9 year old Disney Princess's first trip.

Does anyone have any suggestions on planning the trip. We will most likely be driving from TX. (Of course --cheap airfare would be appreciated)

I think our trip will probably be about 4 days there.

Any suggestions on utilizing DVC Discounts? We don't plan on using DVC points because it appears to be very expensive. What are the plans like at DL?

Unfortunately, there aren't currently any DVC discounts at Disneyland--except, possibly, at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. I don't believe that World of Disney was part of The Disney Store, so it wasn't sold to TCP. If you're not going to use your points to stay--and who can blame you for that??--then you're probably not going to get any use out of your membership this trip. :sad2: Sorry!

July is going to be fairly busy, of course, and you'll want to make your hotel reservations ASAP! The hotels are filling up quickly this year. Staying on-site isn't as important as it is at WDW, so unless you want complete Disney immersion, you can probably find a nice inexpensive hotel within walking distance. Howard Johnson's and Candy Cane Inn are the two I hear mentioned most often.

The first thing you should do is see if you can get accomidations. I know a lot of the hotel's surrounding the resort are booked (especially the weeks surrounding 7/17).
