After gathering advice on here (thanks everyone!) I think we're going to go to DL next July, probably July 11-14. When I checked rates for the Fairfield (we like Marriott because we have some points with them) it said it's booked. I was able to book a Kids Suite at the HoJo, however, with no problem. Couple of questions...

Is there something going on in the area (maybe Convention Center?) around that time that would cause the Fairfield to fill up? I checked their website and didn't see anything.

What are the chances I'll be able to get an Entertainment Book rate for the HoJo in July? Am I just dreaming that that could ever happen? I really want to stay there, but $179 seems pricey considering other options.

Thanks for any advice!

It's very possible that the HoJo will release some Ent Rates. We were there in July and we had 2 nights at the $59 Ent Rate and the rest were booked at the 20% AP discount. Last July (2008) we were there and all our dates were at the Ent Rate. You just have to keep an eye out for them to pop up.

Uh oh, just discovered that the MLB All Star Game will be in Anaheim July 13, right when we would be at Disneyland. Probably not a great idea to go then, huh?

There are so many big conventions there, that you may as well just go when you go and not worry about it. When we went this summer it was during a convention for Future Business Leader. That was 8,000 teens and their families. And there was a barber shop quartet competition at the same time. I didn't notice the effect from either and forgot all about them. The only effect I saw was the difference between all Socal APs going from unblocked to blocked. Besides, you'll be at DLR, they'll be at the game. ;)

I wouldn't let this stop me. Not at all. In fact it might be less crowded then you think, some of those vacationers will go to the All Star Game, I know we would....

how would one go about getting allstar game tickets? Is it almost impossible?
