Can't believe I am thinking about next year before going on this years trip (3 weeks today). Our son breaks up next year at end of June (GCSE's) so for first time in a while will be able to go before holidays start, hopefully 1st July. Just wondered if anyone has done this and if prices are cheaper than school holidays. I know July still popular so not sure. As a guide this year we paid £2500 direct with Virgin from Gatwick for three of us on 11th August, PE on the way back. Last year £500 each on American indirect, year befor £420 each on Delta indirect, all school holidays.

If it's not any cheaper then happy to just go in August.

We go early July usually and direct it is most definitely cheaper than August that we are doing this year.

Last year we paid £950 pp PE return LGW to MCO in July, this August it's £1250 pp out to NY, MCO to home.

Don't forget to check what day the results come out. We like to go the last couple of weeks of August but had to go the first two weeks this year, well, first 18 days (!) to be back in time for GCSE results on the 20th. We will be back on the 19th as I wanted to allow for flight delays. We also had to be back for the V Festival for him. It's more of a pain accommodating a teen!!!!!

I assume you can check results on line. I know my son wouldn't give up more time in Florida so that he can be at home for results! He did a few mock exams in the last couple of weeks, very stressful but successful. (A* in Maths , hope he can keep that going) Although we would prefer to go beginning July just so that I dont have to worry about getting holiday cover in normal school holidays. We are going to need a very long holiday next year especially as we wont be able to have our week away in May school holidays due to revision.

I watch the flights as my DD breaks up v early in July (private school) But Manchester flights never seem cheap, I think as Scotland and NI are already off it keeps demand and prices up. I think your August prices are great don't imagine you will beat that.

Has he got to be there until end June? Everything seemed done and dusted by mid June (friends daughter just done gcse's) - a June flight could be much cheaper. Not sure when schools confirm exam dates and prom though.

Yes you can get results on line I think but I kind of think that picking them up with your mates is a life memory. DS already has a decades worth of Disney memories. He will prefer to be here with his friends. They are a very tight group.

A lot turns on when your son's last exam is. Like Dixonsontour said, many of them are done by mid-June, in which case you should be able to find cheaper flights and hotels.

Further maths and Human Physiology exams were the week after everything else had finished this year if that helps. I know my son was most put out his finished 4 days later than all of his mates lol!

It doesn't bother some people but we went in July once and would never go again due to the school groups that peak around that time. That was pre fastpass+ but if you hit the wrong park(s) on any particular day, you have to navigate around hundreds if not thousands of loud teenage (mostly) girls swamping rides and parades and shops and restaurants.

Many don't mind but it really got us down.

We got both GCSe results and A level results while in florida I wouldn't worry about being back for this.

It used to be if you could leave by 30th June it was a fair bit cheaper. Try looking 1 day earlier

That would be great but he is taking advanced maths and as an extra subject I think it will be later than the others. Mid June would be great, we could have gone for 4 weeks if that had been the case.

Yes both girls I knew sitting this year wouldn't have done advanced maths. I wonder if you could check with exam board if school can't tell you dates yet.
