July Exercise Challenge

55/2800

I almost had a Pitch Perfect moment around mile 3.5 of my 5 mile run tonight. I are WAY too much at dinner, but those pulled pork tacos were too good. Tomorrow night should be a much better run.

Thanks for keeping up with us again, Linda! :goodvibes

I'm old (fashioned) and like to record my miles and exercise minutes in a little notebook. I've used the same notebook since I started in the summer of 2012, and I wrote on the cover "Princess Log" because I was motivated to get active so I could do the Princess Half in early 2013. It quickly became apparent that I wouldn't be ready for that, so I added to the cover "Tink in 2014". Well, from a financial standpoint, it became apparent that Tink wasn't going to happen, but I did run a local half in late 2013, shortly before my 52nd bday.

In any case, the notebook was finally used up and today I had to start a new one. So I did a little data crunching and found out that in the last 6 months of 2012 when I started, I averaged 22 miles/month. For the year 2013, I averaged 58 miles/month, and so far this year, I've averaged 64 miles/month.

So for anyone who is hesitant to start, or not sure what they're capable of, I'm here to say that the first step IS the hardest, and you will get better and some days or even weeks will be crappy, but you CAN do it!!! Start small and you will grow and blossom... :cool1:

Welcome to the new folks this month!!!

We're up and running! I've updated through post 22. Please go to the first post and make sure I've got everything correctly listed for ya. My mouse was going crazy and hopping everywhere except where I wanted it!

Bonnie--sorry about the yellow. I was going for fireworky colors and I don't think yellow is going to work so well. Nobody can see your great start! I may tinker with the colors tomorrow.

And come join us on the July WATP thread if you would like -- lots of support and accountability there. :cool2:
Thanks for coming over here Lisa. Funny how this month we'll be both places for a change! :thumbsup2

I'm in for 1000 for my first time!
:welcome: You're already off to a great start!
Welcome! Thanks for joining us! ::yes::

I'm in. Put me down for 900
Hey Buffy, nice to see you! Glad you can fit us into your crazy busy schedule!

I'm still training for my half, and I'm going to attempt a 10x10 challenge in the middle of the month. With all that, I'm going to put myself out there for 2800.

I'm super scared of the 10x10. 10 non-stop miles per day for 10 straight days. It's a run/walk/jog thing, so I'm going to try to do the Galloway plan to complete it. After that, running a half should be easy.
:scared1: Sounds so tough, but I know you can do it! :goodvibes

I'm in again for July! I barely made my goal for June (and I thought it would be easy :confused3) but I'm going to up my number anyway. So 900 minutes for July it is...
Welcome back! Good for you for upping that number. I upped mine, too, but know we can both do it! :cheer2:

Hello! I am in again for July. Please put me down for 1300 again. Thanks very much for hostessing again for this month.

I'm in again for July. Please put me down for 1000 minutes - I'm going to increase a little. We're headed out in the morning for Disney (I'm still up because I'm a terrible packer and wait until the last minute!). I may try and keep track somewhat while we are there. We'll see how it goes!

Thank you so much for hosting again!:goodvibes

I'll jump in here with my first post on the boards. I'll aim for 1000 minutes this month. I need to be in shape for a January 2015 trip to WDW!

Adding 30 minutes running with 10 minutes walking. 89% humidity this morning :crazy2: so I slowed it down a bit.

Good luck with your 10x10 and let us know how it's going. That sounds crazy to me :)

Thanks! My boss put it out there for a few of us runners to try. I'm not sure she's going to actually do it herself, though :/ I'm excited to finally do something running related before my husband. He started running about a year before me, so he's always accomplishing distances first. He ran a 10k before I even started running, ran a half before I had done a 10k, and he's training for a full while I'm still working towards a half. I finally get to do something before him!!

You guys will probably see me whining quite a bit during those 10 days. I'll need all the encouragement I can get.

I can't run at all, between my back and my knee, so I'll do it vicariously through you - LOL! Last time I attempted running I was in PT for weeks and my doctor made me promise to never do it again. I'm glad to be able to power walk, ride my bike, yoga, and do other types of exercise and strength training. But, there are so many fun and cool running activities I wish I could try.

Count me in for 1200 again. I don't have a 1/2 this month so not sure how this will go. Congrats on your progress 2TxAgs.

I'm jumping in for the first time to help keep me motivated to lose for our trip in November. I'm going to try 900.

Did zumba tonight for 40 min.

Welcome aboard!

I love going to Disney in November. Of course, that could be because out of our three trips, that's the only month I've ever gone.;)
