I'm old (fashioned) and like to record my miles and exercise minutes in a little notebook. I've used the same notebook since I started in the summer of 2012, and I wrote on the cover "Princess Log" because I was motivated to get active so I could do the Princess Half in early 2013. It quickly became apparent that I wouldn't be ready for that, so I added to the cover "Tink in 2014". Well, from a financial standpoint, it became apparent that Tink wasn't going to happen, but I did run a local half in late 2013, shortly before my 52nd bday.
In any case, the notebook was finally used up and today I had to start a new one. So I did a little data crunching and found out that in the last 6 months of 2012 when I started, I averaged 22 miles/month. For the year 2013, I averaged 58 miles/month, and so far this year, I've averaged 64 miles/month.
So for anyone who is hesitant to start, or not sure what they're capable of, I'm here to say that the first step IS the hardest, and you will get better and some days or even weeks will be crappy, but you CAN do it!!! Start small and you will grow and blossom...
