July Challenge

I managed to do some "power scrapping" last evening while DH was a sweetie and took DD to her riding lesson. Am up to 14 pages.

I'm still working on my scrapping room. My DH (what a sweetie!) has agreed to build me a corner desk since I can't find one I like. Therefore, my scrapping stuff is still in our guest room! :o Every thing else is taking shape!

I did dig out 4 pages that I didn't journal on from my last crop and finished them. That puts me at 4 pages for July! I did crop all my photos from the races in Kansas (IRL and Trucks), so I'm ready to go with those!!

OT: My new digital camera did an AWESOME job on my pictures from Kansas. It's a Sony DSC-V1. They look great!! I am so happy with how they turned out. Plus, I only had 130 pictures from 2 days of racing. Much better than my 12 rolls from last year!

4 more last night for me; I'm at 20 now. I have the next two pages began, just need some time to finish them. Hopefully tonight.

I worked on some pages this afternoon and finished my pages from the races in Kansas. I also finished the journaling for our wedding album that I did for my dad. That brings my total to 12! :Pinkbounc

I completed 4 pages in DD's girl scout book yesterday so I am up-to-date with it. Then I journaled in four pages of DS8's book so that totals 8 for yesterday and 50 for the month. I have 2 more pages to journal for DS8 and I hope to do it this afternoon. I also have 6 rolls of film to drop off and pick up but I do not feel like doing it knowing I am drowning in pictures already.

Sue I don't think you'll ever really be drowning in pictures compared to most of us!

But I know the feeling. I'd really like to get the football pictures done so I can get started on the Philmont trip. And of course we went to Mackinac over the weekend and I have 5 or 6 rolls to drop off....

Well last night I told my guys I was disappearing into my workroom. They did wander in and out a few times (I have a couch in there that sometimes sees a visitor) but they let me scrap more or less uninterrupted for the evening.

Am now up to 25 pages for the month and have finished last year's football photos for DS. I have to say that was bittersweet and the final couple of pages a bit of a challenge.

Although it was his JV season, at this time he still has not decided if he is going to play varsity football. He keeps going to the summer workouts, etc. but won't make a firm commitment to us. So I had to figure out a way to end that book (it is full enough that if he does end up playing I'll need a new one anyway) so that it would work as either the end of football for him or just the end of a long and often disappointing season. I had saved some black and white shots and did a two page spread titled "Final Images". Used black card stock backgroun for the pages and matted the photos on an eggshell paper that had some sheen to it that I cut with a deckle scissor for a sort of old fashioned look. I think it works.

Hopefully this weekend I can get back to work on his Scout stuff. I have to double check but think I'm up to date to the trip he just returned from. If not I'll try to catch up anything there and then dive into that trip. My goal is to have that done fairly soon so it is up to date when his Eagle ceremony takes place.

I really am drowning in pictures now. 60 years of them. My mom asked me, (well she begged), if I would start all her pictures. She has several old family documents and pictures of her childhood that she wants preserved. Being the sucker that I am I said yes. She gave me the first of her 17 albums to scrap. The first is probably the only one that I will use all the photos because the are old. The ones from the past 30 years, books 3-17 I will pick and choose. I know this is going to be a several year process but I think it will be fun. I am going to have her e-mail to me her journaling (she has a neurological disorder so she can type but not handwrite) and write her memories of the people in the pictures.

So tonight DD and some friends are going to a midnight crop. Not sure if I am going to bring Mom's stuff or work on my own. I will be seeing me mom in 3 weeks and I would love to surprise her with the first set done. And her's are all in order so I might take the easy way out and work on her things. I'll post how many pages I get done later tomorrow.

Welcome to the world the rest of us are in Sue! Sorry, every now and I again I look at all the photos I have and now my dad is talking about trying to salvage the old books my mom did and perhaps putting all of the slides (converted to prints) and photos he has into scrapbooks and I just want to hide in a corner!

PattyT - I am amazed you got any done with a new baby! Good for you!

I am now up to 20 pages for the month. DD, age 16 months, has decided she wants to "help" me when I scrapbook so I haven't been able to get much done. :)

I got 12 more pages done; crop night at my house! I'm up to 32 and I hope to get more done tomorrow. :hyper:

Wow! What a weekend! A scrapper's dream! DH worked two long days so basically I didn't feel like I was abandoning him, and kids were busy with their own activities. So other than a little chauferring and moving some laundry I could scrap to my heart's content.

As of Monday night I have finished 59 pages for the month! Not sure if I'll get any more done but will post after this next weekend to let you know!

9 more for me...I'm at 41 and I think I'm done for the month. Great challenge this month ladies!

Completed more last night! Am now at 63 with two more nearly done on the work table!

Deb

Finished 17 more pages in the past couple of days. I think that makes my total 67
