How does heat, humidity and thunderstorms at HHI in summer compare to WDW? Just as miserable? (although beach of course is better than a park)

Yes. Pretty miserable. Shoulder seasons (April-early June and September-October) are much better. But if you're going to lay on the beach all day, summer is fine. Definitely miserable for golf.

My favorite times on HH are October-December and March - April. May can be pleasant. I had a cousin who stayed at our place once and said he'd never go back in August because "you (perspire) just sitting in the shade." He was correct. September can be nasty, too, depends on the year.

July and August are so HOT on HHI! I remember one time getting out of an air conditioned car and being almost knocked out from the heat (the car thermometer was 113). From the car to the lobby I was profusely sweating.

I don't live very far from HHI. It doesn't rain as much but it does rain. Yes, it does get hot and it is very humid. However, I don't think it is as humid as WDW. We went to WDW in June and over labor day. June, I felt it was hotter and more humid here in GA. But over Labor Day, it was much worse at WDW. I'm used to heat and humidity but it was too much for me. So with that being said, I think WDW weather varies more than HHI area. It will be hot and humid and might rain

The Cast Members who work there (so they must live near there) said that the best time, weather-wise, was October.
