Has anyone had any luck finding decent airfare from PHL to MCO for July 2014? I have been searching for a couple months. Non-stop prices are $400+ per person with US Airways. They are usually around $240.

I am thinking $119-$126 each way will be the norm for US Air. I travel to MCO each year from PHL. In January I look at airfare for March. That usually gives me an accurate rate of what to expect as July gets closer. This year I am traveling 7/16 to 7/26. Wednesday thru Saturday. Of course rates on Wednesday are cheaper than Saturday. Anyway, I looked at Wednesday 3/12 with a return on Saturday 3/22. I got rate of $119 for Wednesday, and $126 return for Saturday. So I will plan my budget for $250 - $300 roundtrip. I prefer US Air for flight times and convenience, even with a baggage fee. However, I mostly fly Southwest and it looks like their rates are going to be in the $128 range. Factor in the baggage fee. None for southwest, $25 for US Air.

My point is, it is too early to get a great rate for July. By next month the rates will fall and you should start seeing more reasonable rates and will probably be booked before April. Keep me posted.

As an alternative that is less cost, consider Frontier out of Wilmington. They don't fly every day, but may be an option.

You beat me to this, we just got airfare for March round trip for 2 at $507 not the best but not bad.

Once Southwest open their flights for July the prices will go down.

Frontier is at $115 ew out of Wilmington most days

I was wrong about it being too early!!!! I didn't take my own advice and watch for rate drops in February either. Looks like Southwest made me pay for it. I knew rates would start dropping in February, and drop they did. All Southwest nonstop flights for 7/26 coming back from MCO to PHL are sold out!! I had my eye on the 1140am flight for $158. I wasn't checking and all the wanna get away flights are sold out except the first one at 615am and the last one at 955pm. :sad2: This has never happened to me before. Something tells me I better go ahead and buy the earliest flight leaving from PHL to MCO on 7/16. It leaves at 550am which is perfect for us. I doubt that one will sell out before the later flights, but I better not take any chances. :lmao:

Now I am wondering if they really are sold out...OR.....if they just really limited how many WANNA GET AWAY fares they are allowing on each flight.

I see you are in NJ - not sure where but Frontier out of Trenton/Mercer is $258.19 for your dates - departing at 8:50 am and the return flight leaves MCO at 6:40 pm. Out of Wilmington is $213.70 but it would be returning on 25th leaving MCO at 6:10pm. Not sure what their bag fees are - Someone I work with flew out of Trenton to Ft. Myers in December and said it was wonderful.

I booked for my mom and son Southwest out of PHL - I actually was not even thinking Frontier because originally I thought she was going to fly out of BWI since she lives there. We live about 15 minutes from Trenton but just in case something happens we have the flexibility of SW so I am good with it. It would have been 40 less but if you add in bag fees, it would probably be about the same.

Good luck and have a super time!
