I distinctly remember that one from HS English. It's funny because one of the colorguards this year did their show to a narration of this poem and the first time we saw it, I was able to indentify the poem immediately. Until then, I didn't think I remembered anything from HS English!

That would be the late, lamemted Fred Rodgers on Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood found on PBS. Can't tell you about the sweater, but I'd guess e-bay has one if you wait long enough.

The velvet gowns refer to stolen property? Another possibility says that the beggars were the Dutch, who came to England in 1688 and their King, William III is thought to be the one in the velvet gown.

E-Bay?! I like that answer! And that could be a true statement! One of Fred's bright red cardigan sweaters (knitted by his late mother) is enshrined in the Smithsonian's National Museum.

Nice guesses - When did I tell you that I was a history major? Unfortunately, it's not correct. This poem comes from a work of fiction, and the character that declaims it is Xingu... (How's that for a hint?)

We've been prepping our kids re: Oceaneer Club registration, b/c Megan will be in the 8-9 group, and Jay will be in the 5-7 group. Megan is excited about the opportunity "away" from her little brother, but Jay isn't quite as happy yet. He knows that once he meets a few of the 'guys,' everything will work out fine.
We're ordering shirts with Craig's help, and I'm looking for the appropriate outfit for Pirate Night. Anybody know which night that will be? I vote for every night!

Offwego--my Megan is very excited, too to meet another Megan her age. Kim also has an 8 yr. old so that will be nice for the 3 of them to pal around together in the club. From our group, there are lots of girls in the younger group, I don't see boys, though. I am sure he'll make a friend right away.

Read the Navigators and Christine wanted to go shopping. Christine needed an extra suitcase for Quinton and ended up buying all new luggage. At boarding, look for me. I will be the penny-less disser with the million dollar luggage.

We will be on this cruise also!!! It will be me, my mom, and my DD (13). Anyone else have daughters that age? Her 14th birthday is July 17th (same day as Disneyland), so we will be heading over there for the bash after the cruise.

Karen...Alexis met soccermom and dad's DD Cassie at the 5/28 DIS meet. I think she was talking about possibly moving up to the Lab as well! The girls are going to have so much fun!!! I took the Brownie troop for a horseback riding lesson today. They had a blast, and Alexis can't wait to ride on the beach in Mexico. The instructor said she was a natural...and she had her trotting and turning on her own in no time! Only 34 more days to go!!
