July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

As for the heat, we'll be on or near the ocean the whole time, so it's not excessive heat, usually. According to weather.com, the average temperatures for Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan in July are 89 and 90, respectively. According to caboweather.com, the average temperature in July is between 87 - 92. When you add in the ocean breeze, it should feel fairly warm, but not hot.

Hope this allays your fears about heat.
Chris

Man, oh man.... I can feel that ocean breeze right now. And does it ever feel good. Is it July yet? I am soooooo ready to set sail.

Since we live on the surface of the sun (also known as Santa Clarita), that doesn't seem that hot. It is usually hotter than that here in July and we aren't near the water so we don't get any breezes.

And I'm guessing Kim is exposed to MUCH hotter weather than this in RC. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Of course, Sara and Mike probably don't see temps in the SF area above 85 too often.

I think all of you West Coasters need to move East this summer. A week of a Northeastern heat wave will calm all of your hot scenarios. I love a week of close to ro at 100 degrees with the humidity near 70%, it's lovely!! My MIL moved to south FL and says the summers there are cooler and less humid than here. I go to FL in the summers to escape heat and humidity up here.

I once was in Phoenix when the weather was in the mid 110's, and all the weather people were complaining. I was one of the northeasterners saying it's a dry heat, it's not bad... And it truly wasn't, the sun was just slightly stronger, so I got burned easier. I'd give that any day over one of our truly soupy days.

OK, I'll admit I'm a heat-wimp. San Francisco doesn't vary more than 40-45 degrees all year (Winter nights might get down in the high 30's or low 40's while summer days are mostly in the 70s & 80s).

Why do you think all the east coasters move out west? It's to avoid the summers (and the winters).

Mike & I went to Florida one year in August (I told him it was a bad idea, but he wouldn't listen) and he swore that we'd never do it again.

Again, my biggest concern is Lexi. The last time she was somewhere over 85 degrees, she started throwing up... Of course, she was only a couple of months old at the time.

I might be one of those next year. We might be relocating to Salt Lake City, so that will get us out of the Northeastern summers, but will make winter interesting..... Though I don't think they get too many blizzards in Salt Lake City, with over 2 feet of snow like we get here at least once per year... I'm looking forward to dry heat, as Brandon has asthma and it might help him

Sara - of course your first (if I have to retype another word again, I'm leaving it misspelled) concern is Lexi. She's not used to extreme heat so her body reacts to it. She might also be sensitive to it too, which makes the reaction worse. Here, my kids are used to it and never had a problem, but I've know people who;s infants didn't tolerate the sumer to well(see I left that typo).

Anyway, for an update on me. I met with my female Dr. today, and I got much more infor out of him. He doesn't think my stroke was caused by BCP's because of where most of the clots caused by BCP's start. He agrees that I'll be on the blood thinners for the rest of my life, and that my symptoms are subsiding, but they are still here. My left side is getting better, though the fatigue is still a big factor. I've also developed a problem of thinking one thing and saying something different. I'll think April, but say August, something similiar, but it comes out all wrong. (Typing on this laptop stinks, my desktop is still dead and the harddrive has been deemed unsalvagable!) Hopefully, this won't happen in July, but if it does, I apologize, and try to understand me!!!

It's most DEFINITELY hotter in Rancho Cucamonga! It is referred to as "The Inland Empire," which means not even CLOSE to the beach with not even a HINT of a sea breeze! But Lori is right...it IS a dry heat.

Saturday at the Magic is nearly here. :hourglass The following are confirmed.

ScouterDad Family – 3 (Have Cell # :rotfl2: )
Chris & Jeanne-4 (Have Cell #)
GrumpyMom1-3
Soccermom-Cheri-4 Chris & Cheri
Swcruiser-2
Mommykeg -4 Kim (Have Cell #)
Amous -3 Amy (Have Cell #)
Sarangel -3 Sara

I'm planning on being down at the Village early. I understand signs will be in place to direct us. I will scope out a prime location. If you would like to trade cell numbers, PM me. They are recommending 4pm arrival; I say 3pm to be safe. If you would like to, call me and coordinate. By 3pm I should have a good meeting spot picked out with a large landmark and a great view right in the middle of it all. :cool1: Wear your shirts, bring some bubbles and lets have some fun. Kim, thanks for the help & links.

Craig...

Even though we'll be arriving later...it makes me feel better that you'll be there early to "save a spot" for us all!!! Thanks again for all your hard work on this event!

I do this and I haven't even had a stroke! Glad to hear things are improving.

Craig - sent you a PM.

Ok, all of you that will be there Saturday, you can't laugh at me when I cry because I'm not on the ship! Just the sound of the horn is enough to set me off so I thought I'd warn you.

I know you were trying to get a group booking at Palo. I read in Passporter that Palo "...has a private room tucked in the corner for groups." we have other arrangements, but I thought about you guys and am passing it on.

Yes but now we are called the "IE" because of the "OC". LOL! It was so hot last sat I thought I would pass out. My DS lost his first baseball game like 12-0. The kids didn't care they were so hot! I think it was 102+. Since I live in Fontana we actually run about 2-4 degrees hotter than Rancho!
Lori

Yeah...and just so I don't miss out on those extra 2-4 degrees, I live in Rancho and work in Fontana!!!

You're among family! And what do family members do when they're together? They act the same, right? I'll be standing next to you, crying the big cow tears too. :grouphug:

Krystal, don't tell your mom I said this, but unlike the rest of us, you're probably young and athletic enough to stow away if you wanted to. I'm not saying you should, I'm just making that observation. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Kim - I don't know if you ever got your excursions fixed, but I was checking things on-line because I moved some of my excursions around and I saw that the Dolphin Observer has all times available now. I know you wanted an earlier departure time, so if you haven't gotten it fixed, you should give DCL a call.

Lori...thanks for the info on the dolphin excursion. A DCL supervisor DID allow me to book as an observer with DS after much discussion, but we are at a different time that DH and DD....so I'll give DCL a call to see if there are any openings that would allow us to all go together as a family. Thanks for thinking about us! :goodvibes
