Here is what I have found out. Talked to Angela with Ports O' Call Management. This is the place to be - marching band, 500 disney employees I am told, lots of stuff. Still trying to get more info as it becomes available. Angela said you do not want to be in a restaurant when the event happens, but perhaps afterwards. The festivities will be taking place along the village. Does the Magic sail at 4pm? It takes 1 hour to hit the breakwater. The sail-by time has been changing 5pm, 5:30pm & 5:45pm. I currently have Acapulcon Res. for 5:30 which is right down the way. I also made Ports O' Call Restaurant Res. for earlier but am going to let those go. Right now I think Ports O' Call at 3 pm looks like the ticket and Acapulco afterwards. I might push back the res. to 5:45. I may try to do a recon mission later in the week to the village. Can't seem to find this flyer but will continue to hunt.
Craig - Thank you for all of your hard work on this! :worship:

I believe the Magic sails at 5:00. Ports O'Call at 3pm and Acapulco at 6pm sounds perfect.

Craig--thanks for all the legwork and planning you're doing!!! Since we'll be cutting it close in terms of timing on Saturday, I would love to exchange cell phone numbers with you so that I can get an exact location for the group when we get there...probably closer to 4 pm. Could you PM me with your cell number...then I'll PM you back with mine (later tonight when I'm not on the work computer!). I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone, especially since we had to miss the DL meet!

I'll just step in here and give the official "party host" response. There is no requirement that you bring wine or anything else to the party (clothes is the only requirement...after all, this is not a Carnival cruise). We will ensure that we will not run out of food or beverages (though I might have to place a limit on the chocolate-covered strawberries, for obvious reasons). That being said, I can also promise that anyone arriving with bottle in hand will not be turned away, as it's always fun to try things that the guests themselves have chosen.

So, you are welcome to bring something if you like, but not obligated.

Chris

Open mouth and insert foot. A very neat trick to watch, but highly ineffective. What a Goofy thing for me to do.

Thanks for clarifying Chris! :teeth:

I'm so jealous of all you getting to meet the Magic :sad2: . Well, I've been waiting 8 years for DD to get her First Communion, so that takes precedence and we are all very excited for her. She wanted me to add some trim to her already beautiful dress...need to do that soon.

GREAT NEWS! We found a house in Indiana. BTW, SusanB, Indiana is so incredibly beautiful and I have never experienced such hospitable people in my life. Everyone we talked to wished us good luck. On to our house...it is so incredibly beautiful. It's on a pond and a few doors away is the community pool. Down the street is a lake. It is way too big, but I'm sure I'll adjust. I am very happy because on Saturday I was very unhappy after looking all day and not seeing anything I liked. On Sunday we made an offer on another house that I didn't like that much (DH talked me into it) and Megan cried about. The real estate agent called us back and told us we needed to fill out another paper so DH took the opportunity to tell him to wait 24 hours and then asked to see another house down the street. We needed to look at the house at 1:00 PM and needed to leave to the airport at 1:15 PM. The real estate agent loved it (knows the builder) and I cried when I walked in. We all knew this was "our house." We made the offer yesterday at 3:00 PM, they countered this morning and we accepted by noon. Very quick and painless! We move after the cruise around the 29th.

Thanks for letting me share. I was so scared and sad about this move, and now I'm getting excited! Oh, and the schools there are incredible.

Karen

Craig (or anyone else with this info) -

Is there some way to post directions for us Southern CA Challenged folks? I'd really like to know where we're going, especially since we'll have to cut it pretty fine time-wise. I don't think we can leave Anaheim until sometime around 2:00 (so our DD gets her nap-time in & isn't cranky all afternoon).

Many Thanks,

Sara

Congratulations on the House! I am so glad that things are working out for you! Moving is tough enough but the new house should help! :cool1:

I too am jeolous of you all getting to see the Magic! I guess I will just have to satisfy myself with the Panama Canal photos! I guess July will be here before you know it! :Pinkbounc

Sounds like it is really hot on the West -- we are in another cold spell!! And rain!! Pools open this weekend but at this rate I will never be able to work on my tan!! :rolleyes1 I guess I will have to invest in more self-tanner!! :rotfl2:

Karen...

Congratulations on the house!!!! I bet it will really help the whole family get excited about moving!

Alexis had her first communion a few weeks ago...now that's something else the girls have in common! :goodvibes

I'll take lots of pictures of the Magic...but I'm pretty sure I have no idea how to post them...so hopefully someone who does know how will take pictures too!

That's exciting both our girls will have received their First Communions. It is also her birthday on Friday (and a big party on Sunday) and my parents will be here on Wednesday, and our house will be listed tomorrow. I also had a deadline for work today and am getting all the new house stuff worked out. Just a little busy.

I would be very excited to see the pictures. Every time I check out the posts for the Panama cruise, I get all teary eyed. I can't believe it's in less than 2 months!

Karen,

Congrats on your new home! Glad your search is over and you're all very excited about it. I'm sure you're all going to be very happy there and you have something exciting after the cruise is over.

Val & Stu

Karen - congratulations on the house. Isn't it funny how things work out. You and Susan will have to get together on the cruise and talk Indy.

Ooh, look what I just found - http://www.sanpedro.com/ .

Sara - here's a map to the port from DL.

Hi all, I have been so busy, I always find time to read the posts but never seem to get an answer formulated. The meet at the ship sailing sounds like a blast, what a great way to get ready for our sail date. Also can't wait to read trip reports from the Mex. cruises before ours. Karen-what a wonderful house you've found. I can relate-we moved about 5 months ago in the middle of winter; and it was so hard til we found "our" house and then everything went very quickly and easily. When it's right everything flows easier. :goodvibes As for the hot weather on the west coast-we Oregonians are rusting in our boots, it's been extremely wet even by Oregon standards. We had 20 days of rain in the last 22 days. We're contemplating building an ark! :teeth: Finally have some sun coming in this week though.

So what do we bring on Saturday.

Green Shirts
Bubbles
Airhorn
Banner
Pictures "Live from the Magic Sailaway"

LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED

I'm thinking of getting green posterboard and making a sign for the sailaway. Bubbles would be fun too.

Hi everyone!!! It seems like all of you West Coasters will be having a great time on Saturday!! Enjoy!! Nothing new here, my hard drive is probably dead, since Darren's friend can't even read it, something he thought he'd be able to do. So, I've lost everything.. Oh well.... We'll move on, hopefuly installing a new hard drive will do the trick, or it's a new desktop for us, and this one is only 1 1/2 years old, so definately didn't want to buy a new one yet. Oh well, such is life. I might be changing our Matzalan excursion. Currently we have the Sierra Madre Tour booked and are thinking of changing to the Mexican Ranch Family Party. It's shorter and doesn't require much walking, like the other one does. I think it might be better for me, any thoughts?

Hi Lori - the Ranch Party sounds like fun! The kids might enjoy that more than the Sierra Madre tour?

Are you still planning on going to Sea World when you're in SD? We got annual passes this year. I had not been in a few years and forgot how much I enjoy it.

Press Release #2

Disney Cruise Line Celebrates First-Ever West Coast Cruise With Festive Waterfront Procession at the Port of Los Angeles

A flotilla comprised of the world’s most powerful fireboat, coast guard cutters, tall ships, police cruisers and scores of recreational boaters will escort the Disney Magic out of the Port of Los Angeles for its inaugural West Coast cruise on Saturday, May 28, 2005. In the sky, colorful kites will swirl around the ship and upon reaching the breakwater, special daytime fireworks will be launched, ushering the ship out to sea.

Just in time to celebrate one of Disneyland Resort’s biggest milestones – Disneyland’s 50th anniversary – the highly distinctive 2,700-passenger ship is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruise vacations each Saturday from the Port of Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas. This marks the first-time a Disney Cruise Line ship has set sail from a port outside the state of Florida. To learn more about Disney Cruise Line or to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation, guests can visit www.disneycruise.com or call Disney Cruise Line at (888) DCL-2500.

The best location for guests to view the festivities will be Ports O’Call Village at the Port of Los Angeles. Signs will direct guests to designated viewing and parking areas. The ship is scheduled to depart at 5 p.m., but guests are encouraged to arrive by 4 p.m. There is no admission fee to enter Ports O’Call Village

Thanks for the map, now we stand a much better chance of finding you all on Saturday.

Karen, congratulations on the house - hopefully it will make the transition easier. I can't imagine having to make that kind of choice. On the upside, you get to go out with a bang by going on the cruise.

I know I'm a dork for not realizing this sooner, but it's very likely to be *really* hot in Mexico in July. I hope I survive, and don't end up spending the cruise buried in our cabin... Actually, I'm most worried about Lexi, since she's shown tendencies towards reacting badly to excessive heat.

Sara

Sara...

I can relate to bad reactions to excessive heat. Both of my kids used to turn bright red if they were in excessive heat for more than about 10 minutes...even if they weren't in direct sun! They didn't really sweat and it seemed like their thermostat wasn't working! It lasted till they were about 3, and now they seem fine. Our pediatrician advised drinking lots of water, wearing a hat and loose-fitting, sleeveless clothes, and alternating between indoor and outdoor activities on really hot days. They always did OK, but I was always worried sick! Let's hope for mild rather than excessive heat in July!
