Lori,
If you want to visit Krystal, do you know if you have to make arrangements ahead of time, or just show up when we get there? My son will only be 2 so that pretty much rules out excursions, so we're looking forward to spending some time on the beach!!
Suzy
From everything I've read, you should just be able to show up and use their facilities. I've been unable to find a phone number for the Krystal, but when I do I'll definately post it so you can contact them in advance.

I don't know about this particular one, but I agree with Lori that most of these types of "day resort arrangements" don't require reservations. We did this same type of thing in Cozumel in October--just show up, pay the money, and enjoy the facilities.

Chris

BTW Suzy,

I happened to notice on another "Native Californian" thread, unless I got the name wrong (that's entirely possible--ask Lori), that you're a 4th generation Californian. Both soccermom and I are also CA natives--she grew up in Orange County and I grew up in the Bay Area.

Mike,

I forgot to mention in response to your First post that, being a Bay Area transplant, I too am a Giants fan (of course, I'm assuming here that you didn't mean the football team) :scared1: I'm even more of a 49'er fan, though we had little to cheer about this year, except that we earned a good draft pick next year (a dubious honor).

Also, kudos to everyone. The response since my "where is everyone" post a few days ago has been great (something like 35 posts since).

Let's get this board kickin'!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Stu, perhaps you can help me out here. Do you have a Disney Board logon, or can you hijack Val's? Chris

Chris,

My DH does not have a logon -- I'm the only DISer here. Besides, he's busy right now (12:05 AM on a Saturday night) putting together an armoire from Target for our DD's room (she's in college, with her own apartment, but she's home with us on weekends). DH is the "home project" kind of guy...

That's why when we go on our cruises he just wants to RELAX! :cool1:

I see that someone else answered your Grand Californian question -- we're staying there with DVC points and haven't been to Disneyland since they built the California part of it.

I'll try to keep on the boards with this thread as much as I can, but usually it's only at night.

Val

Val--

Thanks for the response. By "Home Project" guy, I can only assume you mean that he can actually execute them. I have zero "home" skills, but I still have home projects--I just pay someone else to do them!!. That sounds expensive, but it turns out to be cheaper in the long run to pay a professional to do something than it is to buy the materials that I will eventually destroy, and then pay the professional anyway!!! :teacher:

As far as Stu relaxing, I should say that I have some basic rules that govern my vacations:
  1. I never get up before 9AM, except to handle certain biological functions
  2. I never worry about things I can't control (e.g. the weather, the ship sinking, etc.)
  3. Despite the cost of getting and staying on the ship, I never worry about money. I work year-round to earn the money needed to pay for a DCL cruise--I require a one-week break from that concern.
  4. I never check the news or e-mail, not matter what. If it turns out the world is ending while I'm on my cruise, I figure that the Magic would be near the top of the list of places I'd like to be when it does.

Chris

Chris,

Yes I mean the orange and black Giants. Is there another "Giants" I should be aware of? As for that other sport you spoke of I dont follow it even though you can see the "stick"(will never call it 3comm or Monster and the giants play at Pac-Bell Park not Some Big Company park) from my livingroom window.

I too am a native californian on my mothers side (Granddad surivied the 06 quake) 3rd generation, Lexi, our little girl, I guess is the 4th.

We're in complete agreement regarding the fact that there is only one "Giants" franchise in American sports. I have heard there is some other upstart on the east coast that has tried to use that name, but that's just a rumor. It won't amount to anything.

As for that "other sport" and its associated stadium:
I can't agree more--as far as I'm concerned, if the 49'ers moved to the eastern part of Asia, and no matter which company writes a check to have their name attached to the team, their home park is still Candlestick.

I don't know about you other ladies, but all I just heard was, "blah, blah, (someting about sports) blah." Um, how about a little cruise talk? You can get together on board the ship, laugh and scratch, have a beer (or 3) :drinking1 and talk sports all day. :crazy2:

We need to address important things like getting our kids emailing each other, what to pack, how many pairs of shoes to take, how much shopping is enough..... Don't you guys have trash to take out or something?

Well, as some from the GREAT state of NJ, and also a life long resident, I do have to say that there is another Giants franchise, and its an AWESOME one. It's called NY Giants, and they are a football team, for all of those of you paying attention.

But, I have to admit to being a Dallas Cowboy fan, but I do stand up for those who play in NJ!!!

At the risk of being tossed overboard at some point :earboy2:

Chris you let her wear shoes?!!! All you need is 8 aloha shirts and some shorts
I mean really it a vacation why worry about clothes

And if you must know its recycling not trash. :D

this may be my last post after DW reads this

Ah, yes. The "New York" Giants, who amazingly, play in New Jersey. They must be the ones being referred to in "the rumors". Lori, in case you're thinking that Mike and I grew up on another planet, we're aware of this team, though our allegiancees require us to view the world in terms of only one Giants team.

A friendly little sports rivalry always manages to spice up the boards!!! :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Enough about sports---I think I'm ready to pack my bags, drive north for an hour or so, and get on this boat :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc !!!

I have a question: how many of you are planning to do Disneyland and/or California adventure prior to or after the cruise? Or, are any of you doing any non-Disney activities??

I realize that I'm jumping the gun here by asking these questions, but dag nabitt, I'm ready to get on this boat and CRUISE NOW!!!! :jumping2: :jumping2: :jumping2:

No, Mike, you misunderstand. Soccermom, and many like her, don't WEAR these shoes or clothes. The just bring them. Big difference. Apparently, there is some satisfaction to be had in knowing you CAN wear something, even though you won't. Although I don't fully get it (I'm a little slow on the uptake), that's kind of the running joke.

It's becoming obvious that our posting priveleges on this thread are now in jeopardy.

We are Chris. We're flying into LAX a week before the cruise and spending 3 nights at Disneyland at the Grand Californian and then spending 3 nights down your way at the Hotel del Coronado. On Friday after the San Diego Zoo, we're driving back to Disneyland to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. We're getting pick up by DCL transport there on Saturday Morning.

Wow, it has been a couple weeks (probably since before Christmas) since I have been in. Glad to see all of the POSTs. Looking forward to July.

I am starting to look into ground transportation. I may fly into LongBeach via JetBlue. Anybody find out anything about what Disney transfers will include (LAX, Orange County, Long Beach)?

Looking forward to conversing (is that a word?) with the 7/9 cruisers!

We plan to spend the week after the cruise at Dolphin Cove (time share). As for what we do we definitely want to be in the park on the 50th,
And may be a trip to the world famous San Diego Zoo but I will still be on vacation and will see what happens who knows I might go to a Dodger game, if only to boo them

I have a room reserved at the Disneyland Hotel for 3 days prior to the cruise and at Paradise Pier for 3 days after. I wasn't sure which way we wanted to extend the vacation and they had really good annual passholder rates, so I booked both and figured I'd decide later!

Chris-

Like this quote: "I never worry about things I can't control (e.g. the weather, the ship sinking, etc.)." I think that is my new creed.

The last couple cruises I was on, my wife couldn't figure out how I knew so many people, mostly the wives, of the people that I met via this DIS site. It is nice to see the dads/husbands on for this cruise! Glad to see the group is getting bigger!

Lori (and Kim)-

Thanks for the excursion information. I have not even gotten this far yet! Keep sharing the info, it is appreciated!!!!

Later.

Hey guys...

I just read on another thread that someone spoke to DCL on the phone today and they said that the excursion list is complete! They're having trouble getting it onto the website (they ALWAYS seem to have trouble with the website!) but they should be up in no longer than a week!!!!

Kim :Pinkbounc

Chris-

Saw your question: I have a question: how many of you are planning to do Disneyland and/or California adventure prior to or after the cruise? Or, are any of you doing any non-Disney activities??

We are planning on flying in on the 5th and head to the Hilton Garden Inn on Harbor Blvd. We stayed there last year and really liked it. Nice and close to DL, they have their own shuttle that runs every 15 minutes, very convienient. We defininitely want to go home straight from the cruise. Our first cruise we did the parks after the cruise, never want to do that again. Glad we were able to reservations for the week before. It is going to be a busy time for DL.

Should be a great trip!

Chris -
You're safe (even if Mike isn't). This isn't my board, and moderators are only allowed to string people up by their toenails for their own boards. Once we get to the cruise, however... :rolleyes1

We're looking forward to a week in & around DL after the cruise, it's a way of slowly settling back to reality. The SD Zoo is a possibility, as is Legoland (since we'll have our 2 year old DD). Any other recommendations for a family with a little girl? (and keep it clean, remember I can *talk* to the other moderators).
