Has anyone looked to see what happened with the fuel surcharge on the 17th? It says on the website to look in your reservation under "invoice Information under Reservation Details." to see the latest information - trouble is - I can't seem to find anything about my "invoice" on my reservation...anyone else had any luck? or know anything about the surcharge?

Have just had a look on the DCL website and if I were to book the same catagory cabin now for this trip the amount has gone up by $200, however there's no fuel surcharge showing. This is approximetely the same amount as we've paid for the surcharge. So doesn't look like we'll be getting anything back. If we do it will be a nice bonus.

I just want to forget about the fuel surcharge it makes me so mad.

Anyway, do we need one photocopy per excursion or just one copy per person per day? I am going on three excurions in St. P.

Where did the person read that we needed the copies to be in colour? I don't recall that from the DCL information. I haven't made my copies yet, waiting to hear the official word.

Just getting nervous about everything right now!

I thought I had read somewhere that you could have copies made at guest services? If you take copies do you still need to bring your original passport?

I tend to carry my passport around with me all the time. It makes it easier that way if someone ask for ID seeing as my driving licence doesn't have a photo on it.

I read it somewhere on these boards, either on this thread or on the main Baltic Cruise Planning thread. Someone posted that they were told by their private St. Petersburg tour company that they needed to hand over a color copy of their passports, so I jotted it down in my notes. Just to be on the safe side, I made 5 sets of color copies: one for the first St. Pete day tour, one for the second St. Pete day tour, one for me to carry whenever we're off the ship, one for DH to carry whenever we are off the ship, and one extra set. We always take copies when traveling abroad anyway, so I figured it couldn't hurt this time to make all the copies in color.

When we went to China last fall, a friend of mine made us all laminated currency converter charts to carry in our wallets. It sure made shopping and bartering a lot easier! Her version was US to Yuan on one side and Yuan to US on the other. However, I really only ever needed the Yuan to US side. So, last night I found the website and made paper copies of each currency we'll encounter. I'm not going to laminate them for this trip since we'll only need them once or twice, unlike the 9 days worth of shopping in we did in China. :goodvibes

Here's the website:
http://www.gocurrency.com/currency-conversion.htm
-On the far left side, you'll see a little box for "Currency Converter"
-Leave the "Amount" box empty
-Click on "Euro" in the "From:" box
-Click on "US Dollar" in the "To:" box (or whatever is appropriate to your specific home country)
-Click on "Convert"
-On the next page, scroll down under the chart and click on "Create a Pocket-size converter to take on your trip."
-Copy & paste the chart into a word document so you can print it later.
-Then start the process over again by clicking on "Make another currency conversion"

Here's a list of all the currencies we'll encounter during the trip. You'll need to enter them, one at a time, in the "From" box in order to convert into charts for each of our ports:
British Pound for the UK
Norwegian Kroner for Norway
Danish Krone for Denmark
Euro for Germany and Finland
Russian Rubles for Russia
Swedish Krona for Sweden

Thanks!! That's a very good idea. I did have my little pocket calculator ready to go.

Got alot done so far today. I was able to order our Eiffel Tower tixs for 1 pm for July 4th. Our train arrives at 11:47am, so that should be plenty of time to head over and not have to rush. Called Bank of America & Chase, took our dry cleaning in, printed the Eiffel tower tixs. I still have to call Verizon Global network for the loaner phone. The employee at the corporate store was pretty clueless. I did get a new phone yesterday, so that was a plus. Finished printing our magnets for the door, still needs to be cut. I also confirmed our airports transfers for London. I hope we don't have problems with this company. I can't believe after all this planning that it's about time. I did find out about the $100 OBC per person bonus. We had originally booked this October 2008, but during that time we modified the reservation and DCL saw that as a disruption to our reservation.:confused3 So, because of that we didn't get the OBC. If we didn't make any changes we would have gotten it. I found that to be bogus. I didn't cancel the trip. Our TA tried going thru a supervisor to get us the OBC, but to no avail. I was hoping with us being Platinum and having 2 other future cruises booked (MV of Dream & Alaska) that would have helped, but not meant to be.
Hope everyone has a good day and that no one is stressing out too much. I gotta get back to the laundry.

for those with a iphone or touch and are taking it on the trip there is an app called UNITS....I downloaded it a couple years ago and it was free then.

besides converting almost everything it has a currency section. I entered all the countries we are going to and then I will make sure the app is syncd before we leave. (or connect to free wifi in Europe and update it) Then you just type in ..... say how much it is in Euro's and the dollar amount will show up.
just a thought....:confused3

I like this app because it has so many different uses within in....

Excellent and Welcome! My youngest daughter is also 4 (well, turns four right after the end of the cruise) and she is already so excited!! If you get a chance - show Kayla the Disney Cruise video. My little one talks each day about packing and going on the Mickey ship!

I have never been on another cruise line, and Disney has definitely failed me a couple of times on the two cruises I've done with them (have to be honest there) but, all of the good stuff so far outweighs the negative that's it difficult for me to imagine going on another cruise line, especially while we have young children.

You will want to take your stateroom attendant home with you!!

On a more somber note -

Denise - I haven't checked in here for a few days, and I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom. I do think it's wonderful that she was able to say her good byes.

Our 3.5 yo son has spent the last month talking about playing ping-pong oin Mickey's Boat. Apparently that's all he remembers from our cruise last fall. You'll know where to find me immediately upon embarkation.

Awww, that's really sweet! We'll be sure to say "hi" if we see you! :)

That is fabulous! Thank you! I printed them all and stuck them in my travel folder.

My poor daughter, though - literally an hour before I saw this, I made her go through all the countries and note their currency names & exchange rates. Bwahahaah. :rotfl:

Hi all... I hate to do this but I have to bow out of the FE exchange. I just don't have the time I thought I would. Too many things to do before the trip and I won't have time to make my gifts. So, if it is alright that Team McNeese take our family's place. Sorry... I wish I would participate. Tina

Tina,
Who do I need to talk to about this?
Rich

FE gifts sorted, currencies bought today, passports copied and printed, batteries and film for cameras sorted (I'm old fashioned I like film in my cameras, although I have now got a digital one), documents required by DCL printed and awaiting signing. Just need to sort and pack clothes. Not going to panic at all as I still have 13 days to get things sorted out.
