We chose the Helsinki itinerary because my grandmother was Finnish which makes me 1/4 Finn.

In other news, I was straightening some things in Zachary's room over the weekend and came across the activity books that DCL provided for the children on the Med. cruise in summer 2007. Each night, a different port's activity pages would be left for them to include in their book they were making. The boys enjoyed putting it together on the trip but never finished all the stuff inside -- so they have enjoyed reading through it and also doing some of the activities again. They were wondering if DCL will do something similar for the Baltic -- I sure hope so! It is a fabulous keepsake!

Hello

I was looking at showslide photos today and what a great memory of Med 07... yes I have it two albums which was great from Med 07 also need stamp at it when stop at every ports... Brilliant...

But Sadly Panama canal Cruising was not doing it...

However I hope you will get it at Baltic as it will be good memory too...

By the way, this ship is filling up now...I tempt to come this cruise but still too expensive ::cry::

Deborah, COME BACK!!!!!!

Leaving Sunday for SoCal. :cool1: Got our DL tickets on base. DH gets in free because he is retired military and we each get in for $94.00 for a 3 day park hopper. Not bad. It is going to be in the 100's here this weekend so it will be nice in Newport Coast in the mid 70's....
The three of us need this vacation after everything that has happened in the last 7 weeks....
DD is doing so much better. No body parts have to be removed! After weeks and weeks of tests....They think she tore or broke her rib cartlidge in a woodshop accident in high school a couple of years ago and it is not healed yet. She does martial arts 4 days a week and that doesn't help either. She had a full body bone scan last week. Her rib is dented where her pain is and that is right where the accident was.
Her doctor ran every test on her and thank God we have insurance! He is very good and nice too.

Then the big plans begin when we get back...

Well off to work, only working 4 hours today because DD needs one more xray on a spot that came up in the bone scan. She has had so many she might start glowing!

I think you should give in to temptation and come back to this cruise :)

We were talking with someone at lunch the other day who asked if we would be looking into the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. Anyone know anything about that?

My DH's friend told us about the ceremony before our Med trip. We weren't able to make it then :( Here is a link to a description:

http://www.trooping-the-colour.co.uk/keys/index.htm

Don't know if we'll try again. We did go to the Tower for a morning tour, but didn't have a lot of time. DD wanted to go to the zoo.

We're just a few weeks away from our Disneyland trip to celebrate Nathan's 13th birthday. It's hard to believe that while he's still 12 now, he'll be 14 when we sail next year. Ay yi yi - I can't get my head around having a 14 year old!

Anyway, I've been doing some planning / prepping for the DL trip and one of the things I wanted was to get some laundry detergent to take with us so i wouldn't have to feed so many quarters into the vending machines in CA. I was looking for travel sized packets, just like we do for our cruises, and came across this: http://www.purex.com/purex-3-in-1/product/ -- Purex makes a detergent/fabric softener all-in-one laundry-sheet! I will try a few out before we travel, but if they work well enough, they are def. going on my Baltic packing list! Anyone else tried them?

(and any tips about Disneyland will be much appreciated if you want to send them by PM. We haven't been in 10 years. We're staying at the Disneyland Hotel on DVC points. We are not renting a car, so we do want to know what is around the DL Resort that is within walking distance for food, convenience items, etc. I'm trying to crash-course DL and reading the DL boards but thought some of you DL experts here might be able to send some insider good-to-know tips our way.)

Cindy,
Do you have access to the Dis Board Pod Casts? If so, there were a couple of podcasts that were just about Disneyland! I think you can find them on the main disboard and listen to them on your computer without downloading them to a ipod. They tell about all kinds of things down there. I even learned some new stuff and I have been going there since it opened! (yes, I'm old)We leave tomorrow (driving) for there and have tickets for 3 days into the park. I will report back and let you know what's going on. We are staying in Newport Coast which is about a 30-45 min drive. The Disneyland Hotel is nice. I have stayed there a few times.
There are all kinds of places to eat now off property within walking distance from your hotel. I will get the street for you and let you know, just can't remember it. There is a Bubba Gumps, Cheesecake Factory, McCormick and Schmicks, Pf Changs and California Pizza Kitchen. There may be more, I will let you know.
You have time to plan....
I will have my laptop with me so I will report live from Disneyland (sorta)

Hi everyone! Right now we are bust trying to pull everything together for our cruise and WDW this summer. Since we were unsure whether the Dr's would let me travel we had planned very little. Now that everything is finally in the clear after a second stay in the hospital i can plan. Once we are back from that it will be time to really start thinking about this cruise. If 2009 goes by as quickly as 2008 did then time will fly by. Hope everyone is doing well.

Denise - thanks for the reminder about the podcasts - I have them on my iPod! And please let me know if you do a live report - I'll want to follow!

thx.

Got here yesterday afternoon. We could feel the heat drop as we drove south. It was 105 at home in Sacramento yesterday but about 71 down here in Newport Coast. Today should be about 80 but hard to tell we are near the ocean and it is overcast.
Had an earthquake last night. DD did not feel it as she was walking to the spa. It has been years since I felt one of those....(lived in the SF bay area my whole life before moving North)
We are leaving for the parks soon. Got a slow start. Disneyland is only open 9 to 9 today and California Adventure is 10 to 6....Hope there are no crowds...
If I can get wifi anywhere near I will send a message via my ipod...

Ok here we are eating the best lunch at Naples in downtown
Disney. It is 74 out but feels hotter. Lines are not bad either.
Did California adventure this morning and now to Disneyland.
Eleni says mainstreet is empty and easy to get around. Going
To Indy Jones next she said the wait is 50 min, guess everyone
Is there...

I think I need an intervention. I just realized we have three cruises booked in the next year and a half plus a trip to both WDW and DL. I keep telling myself we can cancel any of the trips if we can't afford them when the time comes, but I know I would rather starve for a month than miss a Disney vacation.

I am becoming addicted. My wife claims I spend more time on the boards planning our trips than talking to her (probably true). The sad part is I am perfectly happy continuing at the current trip planning pace.

Hi-

Just thought I'd pop in. My DH and I are going, but haven't done much planning yet for this one. We are also booked for the Double Dip in NOvember of this year. Hoping I don't have to cancel that one. We have 3 DS-5,7,9. Don't know if we're taking them yet...with plane costs, etc. Grandma has agreed to watch them, but then I would feel guilty. My DH is looking at it as our 15 year anniversary celebration.

We are planning on staying at the Chauncery the day before. We have Marriott points I'm hoping to use. Haven't thought about flights. For the Med cruise we did the flights on our own and saved $600/pp

Does anyone know if I do air and hotel on my own, can I still do Disney's ground transportation if I'm staying at one of their hotels?

Off to pick up the youngest from school...I'll try to pop in more often.

I asked that same question and was told no. But, since then I've explored options and you can get a private taxi to pick you up at the airport, wait if your flight is delayed (no extra charge) and take you straight to where you want to go...for less.

I'm doing everything on my own and saving thousands.

Thank you for the info. I had DCL quote me everything, and when it was broken down, the flight, hotel, and ground transportation was outrageous, especially if i brought my 3 boys along. We did the hotel and ground transport. via DCL for the Med in 2007. I was just scared of the language barrier in Spain, so decided to take the safer route.

I noticed that Dover is a good ways away from London. Have you priced out taxis vs train yet? I guess we'll be researching together.:)
