I've been looking at transfers from the airport to dover. Is anyone doing it on their own? Its so economical to go by national express (for the entire family its about 58.5 pounds one way!), but I'd be so worried to commit to a bus time in case the flight was late. Does anyone here know if you can change your bus times, or just pay when you get there?

Also I found private transfers by van for a family of 5 for about 170 pounds. They pick you up at the airport, wait for you and not charge you if your flight is delayed. This seems cheaper than the Disney transfers.

Perhaps we'll take private van to Dover, and the bus on the way back when we're less likely to be jet-lagged!

It would certainly be more fun to go with other families if anyone was going to be doing it. Anyone interested?

I've looked a little into hotels in Dover. The Ramada does a family suite for 143 pounds a night. Since we are a family of 5 its hard to find places that take all of us.

Can we post all our info on our new website? Still a bit fuzzy on that one.

We'd like to stay in London for a week after the cruise. With the economy and a family of 5, I need to economize where I can.

This year we are taking an ABD to Ireland and I'm so worried about the costs! Being a Canadian its hard to plan exactly what things are going to end up costing!

We would LOVE :lovestruc to share a ride to and/or from the port. We're still not sure if DD27 will join us or not, but it does look like DS won't be able to come. So, at the most, we'll be a party of 3 adults. :)

I read somewhere that it is illegal in the UK to share taxi rides! That all cabs must have members of the same family.

I find that strange, does anyone know if this is true?

Greetings from Animal Kingdom Lodge. I am watching a baby giraffe play in the Savannah as I type, and people ask why I visit WDW so often.

Isn't that the truth! You just can't explain pure magic to some people, no matter how hard you try!

I have (thanks to Deb T.) a word document with pictures from the previous site. I don't want to post pictures without permission. If you had pictures on the previous site and would like me to use that picture on our new site, let me know. It will be easy to add it in.

Thanks.
Jeff

I'm assuming we'll have to book all this on our own. We plan on arriving early to do a pre-stay in London but we will be leaving the day the ship comes back. When we did the Mediterranean cruise we did both a pre & post stay and the kids couldn't handle the post stay. They were ready to go home and so was I.

As for transfers, I was going to do the train but someone said that the luggage could be an issue so, I'll probably either do a bus or private car. Are you booking your transfers now? I'm gonna keep notes on what you researched so far. Maybe on the website we could add our findings and stuff to help each other out. Something like tips, etc...

This sounds fishy to me. Not everyone gets married. I'm assuming people date in England. I'm sure there are gay people too. It would be interesting to find out if it is true.

Yes, my family still wears our shirts from the 07 cruise, thats why I was hoping that you would do it again...I am not to artistic, so I just sit back and wait....thanks again

John

Greetings All,

I'm happy to see everyone made it through the holidays and am sorry to see some "new" friends won't be joining us next year :sad1:

We've had a busy time. We spent the week after Thanksgiving in Orlando. Had a good time at Animal Kingdom, Disney Studios, and spent a special evening at Micky's Very Special Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom (I was "That Guy"). It was Kyle's birthday week, so he got "Birthday" pins at each park. We also did Universal and Islands of Adventure too!

We just returned from a whirlwind weekend to Altantic City/New York City. Our artistic son Kyle, took part in the The Pulse dance workshops in A.C. on Sat. and Sun., since we were so close we took the opportunity to go to NYC on Friday to catch Little Mermaid on Broadway (surprise X-mas gift for Kyle). All I can say is What A Show!!!

We've seen Wicked, Hairspray,Tarzan, Mary Poppins (in London pre Med 07), Lil' Shop of Horrors (London too), Lion King, Cats, and Spamalot to name a few. This by far is my favorite (just nuging out Wicked). Kyle was a little disappointed that Ariel was played by under study Chelsea Stock and not by Sierra Boggess, but Chelsea did a fantastic job - I don't know how it could have been done any better!

The set was unbelievable as is disney's way. Check out http://disney.go.com/theatre/thelittlemermaid/#/video/lm-sneakpeek/

John - I'm working on one. You can see the one I put together for our 07 Med cruise in my signature. Any design ideas are welcome and may be sent via PM.

When I was there on business a couple years back, we all headed for the pub to get drunk and several of us (all brits, aside from me) called a cab to deliver us all to the pub. Fortunately, it was big enough for all of us.

Yep. We can put anything on the website. I have a link for pre and post cruise plans. We can break it down anyway people want (hotel, arrival date, etc) . Check near the bottom of this link. PM, email or put your plans in the thread and I'll get them added.

No, I never heard that?

I'm on the June 12th cruise and have also been checking transfers from the airport to Dover, and to London. I was given this website and was quoted what I thought was a good rate. They have mini vans. http://www.silverlinetravel.co.uk/index.htm

Gydell, How are you?

Good Morning well nearly afternoon here

I spend my times to read the tripadvisor.com about Warnemunde..

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...ry-Warnemunde_Mecklenburg_West_Pomerania.html

I see people mentioned that day return trip to Berlin would cost you 389 dollars each person...:scared1:

I don't think that we are going to Berlin as we leave it out as we can return to Berlin another times. I do understand if you want see Berlin as it take 2-3 hours each way...

I think forum help us what to do in Warnemunde otherwise we take the train to seesight?

And I forgot mention about Dover? What about train from London to Dover?

we are skipping Berlin regardless of cost. we plan to go spend time in Germany in general on another trip in the future. Going to use the Berlin Money to spend in St. Petersburg. Going to try to do as much on our own to be able to afford private tour for St. Petersburg. Still up in the air about Moscow...DH's Bucket list city!!!!

The bit about the same family, sorry I meant the same party. I will try and find where I saw it and post it. It was in a private van site from Airport to Dover and it said that different parties couldn't share a trip.

Found it...check out this link.http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_dover.htm

What an odd law!

Well, DH and I would be happy to pose as the grandparents of a family in order to share a ride! :lmao: We'll celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this year so, if you're in that age-range, we're up for adoption as your "parents" to save some money! We come with great references!!! I'm pretty sure that nzdisneymom would vouch for how good I am with children! :) :) :)

OK I was thinking about what we wanted to do and see during our pre and post cruise stay. Not knowing exact flight details and when we will get there and when we will have to be back at the airport this is what I have come up with. Let me know what you think.
July 4th: Arrive London. Head to hotel via DCL transfer check in. Depending on time Head to London eye tickets bought ahead of time.
July 5th: Up early see; Changing of the guard, tower bridge, Harrods, and some other places that I marked in the tour book.
July 6th-17th: Cruise
July 18th: Back to hotel hit some of the sites we missed before hand
July 19th Paris tickets on Eurotrain leaving very early and coming back very late. Must See Eifle tour, Notre Dame Cathedral.
July 20th: Afternoon tea at the Ritz reservations already made. Get ready to fly home.
July 21st Fly home

I know were trying to pack a lot in but this is more than likely the only time we will ever be here and want to see as much as we can. Besides what I've mentioned are there any other must sees that I've left out?
