We haven't gotten a call. We booked our own air, hotel, and transportation. hmmm!!!

I wonder if it's because we haven't filled in any flight information on our reservation. But then again they know we live in the UK so there wont be any. Strange.

free is good and I have a TOUCH. I downloaded free London Tube maps as well. One of the two you type in station to station and it tells you where to transfer and what lines...I was playing with it during my massive insomnia spell last night!!!

raining here in not so sunny southern california...bit chilly too!

When you get into London, most hotels have maps with all the sights marked on them along with bus and tube routes, just incase your phones don't work.

I've been trying to contact DCL through their website to see if I could find out whether or not there will be a pirate or a viking night and what other themed nights there might be whilst we're on board. I also wanted to know when they'll be opening up Brunch reservation. I click on the contact us and it brings up a prefilled page with all my details, I add my reservation number and my question and then submit. It then brings up a message that something is wrong and I need to change it. I can't see that anything is marked for me to change, but yet it wont let me send my email. Anyone else had this problem?

:lmao:
Several years ago we mailed back stuff from England. We had cold weather clothes for Europe but were stopping at WDW on the way home and didn't need coats there. We mailed them home and it really made room in the suitcases to buy more stuff!!!!
Worth a try to save that hat from being confiscated!!!

I read somewhere that DCL has partnered with UPS to have shipping from both Barcelona and Dover. No idea what it will cost.

When we were in the Med in 07 they had done that also. A fellow cruiser checked on it and the price was horrible. It was cheaper for her to buy a suitcase from Disney on the cruise and pay the extra baggage fee to the airlines!

Ok, I admit that I am being a bit lazy, and I don't really want to mess with finding a private tour guide for St. Petersburg. Also, my girls REALLY want to do the Royal Ball at Catherine's Palace. BUT, I am very disappointed at how the way the DCL excursions are set up are really limiting our time in St. Petersburg. I just sent the following message to DCL. Will let folks know what the reply is, if any.

-----------------------------------------

We will be on the July 6 sailing of the Northern Europe Magic cruise, and I am experiencing some difficulties with the scheduling of Port Adventures. Specifically:

1) There are no port adventures that can be done during the afternoon of July 12 if you plan to attend the Ball at Catherine's Palace in the evening. It would be great if DCL could look into providing a very short adventure that could be done in advance for those attending the evening gala.

2) You cannot book any of the evening adventures if you have a full day or afternoon adventure booked. I currently have the Peterhof and Hermitage full day adventure booked for July 13, and would like to add the evening canal boat cruise. The system will not allow me to do this even though there is an hour and a half between the end time of one, and the start time of the other. Also, the descriptions of the evening tours says that guest should be careful in scheduling full-day or afternoon tours with an evening tour. This is great advice, but certainly not necessary if scheduling both is impossible.

Thanks for your attention to these matters. We would really like to optimize our time in St. Petersburg, and will unfortunately need to cancel our Disney excursions and hire a private tour company if these issues cannot be resolved.

Best regards,

My girls are on spring break from school this week. Just spent the entire day shopping and bonding. They each have a new dress for the cruise. Yeah. fun!

:goodvibes Joanne

:cool1: Got my keeper of the keys tickets today (well, actually my friend living in England received them today.) I am sooo excited!! They are for July 1st...anyone going on July 1st?

:thumbsup2 Yea! You may have to tell us about it since we may never make it. My request is probably sitting in a container somewhere waiting for a flight to London.:rotfl:

our envelope is probably sitting somewhere with yours...just waiting to go

It is ever possible to get those tickets once in London??

I don't think so Joanne. All I know was that the website says to request tickets 2 months (3 for July and August) in advance. I think if you could, we wouldn't have to mail away for them. I also remember Smantha Brown saying something about mailing away for the tickets. can't hurt to try. i think the coupons are 2 bucks a pop and then whatever postage is to England.

DD (19) looking to meet former Disney intern on Wed., July 21 or Thurs., July 22nd in London to talk shop! She interned at Disney Quest and is now a seasonal employee while going to university. At DQ she met interns from China, Brazil, and the US, but none from the UK. Thanks in advance for helping make the connection!

found this posted on the cruise boards....
for 4 days only free maps from Lonely Planet for the iphone and touch.

I am downloading them...they have Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen, London, Stockholm, and more!!!

It says it will work on the touch even without wifi!!!

I like FREE!!!:woohoo:

Guess I just missed the free period, I checked today and they are $4.99 each!
Good thing you acted quickly!

Hi Lisa. Jill/Babybear and I checked this out for you. We think that the best way would be to get the 'District line' tube train from Kensington to Wimbledon. Change there onto a regular (overground) train direct to Hampton.

Hope that helps!

Shaun & Jill (sharper fin & babybear)

Thanks for the help! Will be fun to see if we figure it out!

I couldn't find the 4.99 maps or any maps on the site. Can someone send me a direct link. Thanks....

I went on my ipod via Apps and then search, typed in "Lonely Planet Stockhom" and it came up...typed in other city names after the words Lonely Planet and they came up that way, they didn't appear under the general title of Lonely Planet.

TammyAlphabet started a new thread called Packing Light in Europe...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2451189

OK, so i just bought 3 - 3 piece packing cube sets (sml, med, lg), a 3 piece slim set, and a 15" eagle creek folder. $130 seemed reasonable! 10% off and free shipping!! I know that won't be enough for 3 people for 3 weeks, but it is a start. Once they arrive and I give them a little test pack, I can determine how many more we need. The DH and I have birthdays in May so we can put them on our list :)

Our luggage set consists of...
22" upright garment bag (carry-on)
25" wheeled wardrobe...total monster bag!!!
27" expandable upright (with a garment sleeve) I thought this was big...
29" expandable upright (with a garment sleeve) this one is a monster!!!!

I am hoping that with efficient use of the cubes and the small folder (use for DH's formal and semi formal shirts) and the 2 garment sleeves for dresses and slacks, and the upright garment bag for the suit, I can leave the wheeled wardrobe home when we do the Baltic and London pre-cruise. I will have to do laundry 3 times i think instead of twice, but if it means i can bring one less suitcase...worth it.

Ok Beth, again one step ahead of me!
We really need to take a serious look at our suitcases. We are just going to get new ones...the ones we have took their last trip this last week....they have been around the world and back and need to be retired...(like me! one month to go!):lmao:

Question about the FE....when we will get the names of the people participating? Hope it is soon...I need first names only....working on something and need to get 'er done!

Hi Denise,

I have all names except for 2 cabins. I sent them both a PM today asking for names. Hopefully, I will have complete very soon!

Is anyone else interested in joining? :woohoo:
