Purchased our Air and Medical coverage through Travel Guard today for John and myself. Contemplating coverage for the cruise - we booked on DVC points, but I am not even sure if we have entered the penalty phase yet..

Carol

LMK if you find something out about DVC points....I booked with them too. Also American Airline miles, going to call them as well.....

another one on DVC points, American Air points and Marriott points for London..so basically hoping for the best.. I did purchase medical insurance. That's it...

I hope, we don't need to worry since our cruise is awhile away but it is sure nerve racking. I can't imagine what the Transatlanic and the 4/24 cruisers are thinking right now.

I did buy insurance but my computer crashed and I don't have a copy of our policy since I only had it in e-mail form. So, on Monday I intend to call them to get a 2nd copy.

I did some stuff on points like my airline for 2 seats; paid cash for 2 seats. I also, booked our hotel on points. I think, I can get the hotel points back but I'm not sure.

I guess, we'll find out more when the 4/24 cruisers report what happens to them.

Judy,
Was just at DL and almost bought a D/B purse and now I cam glad I didn't!!! I want a DCL one. Thanks for posting....
I have the florida purse and I love the coloring. I'm not so sure about the dark blue. I guess, I'll have to see it in person to decide. I hope they don't sell out before our cruise.

I did get one. DH thinks I'm nuts...he's a man. I told him I was getting another one and he just rolled his eyes at me. :rotfl: It's my reward for planning and organizing this trip for us right?

I saw the ones at DL but they only had the huge one or the wrist one. I did buy a leather tote bag at Club 33. It is plain black with 33 embossed in one corner. Nice and plain.
But I do like the cruise one!
Good thing I have a job where you shouldn't bring a nice purse to!! I would have them all! ;)

We also booked our hotels with Marriott points. I think you can cancel 24 hours ahead and get your points back. I am ordering a package for the one week stay with airline miles and I think I have to order it at least 1-2 weeks prior. Don't know about AA airlines. Don't really want to call, they must be crazy right now with all the calls.

Found a paper for insurance thru DCL. Don't know when our penalty is (you have to have purchased before the penalty period) but you take the points used times $5.00. Then you multiply that by 5.15%.
I used 1250 pts X $5 X 5.15% = $321.88 !!!!!!!:scared1: OMG.....that is high!! Don't know what we will do.

I have a couple of the Dooney & Bourke purses. Just thought I would post want they unveiled for DCL. I found the pic on another thread. I know what I'm going to use some of my OBC for:

Oh geez - I didn't need to see this! I have the Mickey purse that we got at Disneyland last summer and I love it - I've gotten so many compliments on it. I will probably have to get one of these, too.

We had a great time at WDW this weekend. Stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge - kidani village - beautiful!

So our next official trip now is the cruise! I've lost 38 lbs since last fall and all my clothes that I currently have that I had thought last summer and fall would be great for this summer's cruise are too big - so now I have to add cruise-clothes-shopping to my list of things to do. I'm going to wait til June to see what I can get -- thank goodness for a washer/dryer on the ship - just need enough to get us from home to the ship plus one day and then we'll time the laundry onboard to make sure we have enough to get from the ship to home, including our two nights post-cruise in London. The boys are both growing right now, too, so I'll have to get some things for them, too. We are not planning to bring dress-up clothes for this trip; we found on the Med that clean pants and shirts were fine for dinner - and we have enjoyed dining in Topsiders in the evening, too, so we'll be cool.

Has anyone put together a count-down calendar / list of things to do for the cruise? Sorta like a guide to help remember everything we need to do. You know, things like confirming travel plans, stopping the mail and newspaper, notifying credit card/banks that you'll be out of the country, making door magnets, writing out the packing list, etc.? Or anyone seen one online yet or here at the DIS? It's what? 10 or 11 weeks til we go? I'm thinking I need to do this so I can do a thing or two each day so I won't have bazillions to do at the last minute - or wait too late to do something - like exchanging currency.

I haven't written a list yet, but i have printed out all our hotel and car rental confirmations, our airline reservations confirmations, some preliminary itineraries since we are doing all ports except STP on our own, I have exchanged currency for London and all ports so that is ready to go as well. we have most of London/Dover planned out...what to do on each day we are there, etc. I still feel behind and overwhelmed. :surfweb: I have several emails out to Dover restaurants with one pretty much booked if other choices don't prove to be better fits for the 7/5 Dover meet (we have 37 peeps). :surfweb: Oiy...10 weeks is sooooo close yet so far away!!! I have already had a mini meet with denise!!! :wave2:woot!!!! looking forward to seeing DIS peeps around London, too. :yay:

Time to put the kid and dogs to bed. DH is out of town on business and racking up the some more marriott points for the chancery on the 18th since we couldn't get a flight home til the 19th. we are prepared to pay of course. have ressies at both county hall and chancery...pay for county hall or use points for chancery since they lowered to cat 7 instead of 8 like county hall. depends on the point totals.

night night sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite!

If you go on the Disney cruise site and log into your reservation, they have a what to do list and a packing list.

Andrea,
I have only read about Afternoon Tea, I have never experienced it…….and probably never will. :sad2: My family is not to keen on the idea of it. :confused3
You may want to check out the two following sites.

This is one of those - we're just doing it because Mom wants too & she gets to pick something & we're all going to go along & pretend to enjoy yourself things :rotfl:

There's a lovely cafe/restaurant at the side of Harrods that does lovely full English breakfasts and am sure they'll do tea. The cakes in the window are to die for.

ooooooh - thanks for all the ideas, I'm sure I'll be able to find something.
Is there only 1 Harrods? Just need to know where to look for the cakes

We have decided to go with air ticket/baggage coverage and medical insurance as well. With our two staterooms requiring almost $600 worth of insurance, we will take our chances. Reimbursement is only $5 per point, and for the $600 we could hit WDW and stay at a value resort if absolutely necessary. So we will take our chances on the cruise portion coverage.

I usually only do the medical travel insurance, but the darned volcano made me cave in this time, lol. :)

what company did you end up going with?
We are going to pass on the dvc point insurance too. My medical insurance company said we are covered but we have to pay and they reimburse us. I don't think there is emergency evacuations though. The main thing I think is trip delay and baggage. Don't think our AA miles are covered either. Still have to call but want to wait until the lines are not so busy.

There is only one Harrods and it's huge, you could spend a day in there. The food halls are on the ground floor, where you can buy cakes, and all sorts of things to eat, as is the Harrods shop where you can buy Harrods themed items like teddy bears, bags, pens, golf towels, magnets, tea towels and whisky. It's easy to find, you get on the Piccadily tube line, and get off at Knightsbridge and then follow the directions for Harrods, you come out of the station right next to it.

Did anyone else get a phone call from DCL yesterday? We got one asking us how we were getting to the port and where we were staying as we hadn't requested any ground transfers. Seems a bit strange seeing as we live in the UK and the volcano wont affect our travel plans. Still it was noce of them to worry about us. Just wondered if they'd treated everybody to a phone call.
