July 6 2008 Anyone else

Hi caratjane! Maybe it might be worth it to give your agent a call. We used a TA also and our docs got to her (here in Northern Ca) on Friday.

Can't help you with the wine transport - sorry!

Enjoy the last preparations - it sure is getting close isn't it?:goodvibes

Our family (DH, myself, DD - 8 1/2 and DD - 5 1/2) are going for the first time on a cruise. We are from the Bay Area in Northern California and will be driving down on the 4th of July. Is it cold out at sea? I apologize for posting this question if it has already been asked and answered. I can't seem to find that particular thread. We are planning to have dinner at Palo's on Sunday night. If you have been to a Disney Cruise previously, what time should we drive to the port? 9 or 10 a.m.? Thanks for future answers. By the way, I didn't receive any travel documents. Should I start worrying?

Hey, welcome to the thread. We're also from the Bay Area and we have DD9 and DS 5. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise, but the first was in December/January, and out of Florida, so I can't help you on your other questions.

From what I gather elsewhere on the boards, though: It's cold on the at-sea days at night, and sometimes in the day. And I think you can start going through the line to board at 10ish, but can't get on the ship till 11:30ish.

We just got our docs on Friday.

Another Bay Area cruiser here!

Welcome Abayaflowers! Jfletcher pretty much gave answers that I would have so I don't have more to add, just wanted to say hi!:yay:

Thank you to those who have welcomed me into this forum. I feel more comfortable that there is a forum where I can find my answers.

It seems like we have a few other SF Bay Area people here. Can we do a quick roll call of where everyone's from, and maybe we can do a mini-BA-DIS meet.

We are from Danville. Me and my wife and DD9 and DS5. We're traveling with another Danville family with DD8 and DD4.

Just got a call from our agent, they're in! Only 2 weeks, can hardly believe it! We are so excited. I know I should be getting packed (certain things), I'm having nightmares about forgetting a razor :) I think I'll be fine.. wonder if there's a place if we forget certain necessities.

anyway, can't wait!

Hi All!

Jfletcher - we're from Danville also! We've got a pretty jam packed schedule this next week and a half so I'm not sure if we'd be able to fit in a meet or not. Maybe, but not sure. We actually started packing today to make sure we get it all done in time.

Caratjane - I know one of the shops on board has a selection of basic necessities. I can't remember what we had to buy on board once, but I know we were shocked to find it in the shop. I think I also read somewhere that one of the ports has a Walmart nearby?

2 weeks to the cruise - amazing! We'll be in Disneyland for a few days beforehand, so we actually leave in a week and a half! Yippee!:woohoo:

Just to clarify, I was referring to meeting on the ship, not here. That's funny that you're also from Danville. Maybe we already know each other :)

What are the ages of the kids in your family (assuming you have kids)?

My kids are 15 and 12 (actually, it says that in my signature) so older than yours! I guess I kind of assumed you meant meeting up in the bay area since there's a little meet going on down in San Diego. My brain is a little fried lately - I think I need a vacation! :)

Sorry, I had the signatures hidden. I think it would still be cool to do a little Bay Area meet sometime on the first day or so on the ship if anyone else is interested.

The Dad of the other family traveling with us is one of those guys who introduces himself to everyone, so he'll probably know where everyone else on the ship is from within 12 hours anyway. :)

We are from Los Gatos. We are also traveling with 3 other families. One family is from Monte Sereno (parents with a DS 4, DD 3). The other family is from Silver Creek (parents with DD8, DD6, DD3). The last family are the grandparents of the family from Silver Creek. We are all on Deck 8.

We are planning to ashore for the Beach resort (Hotel Finisterra) in Cabo, Mazatlan Highlights, Paradise Village Beach Resort in PV. I am also booking a hotel room for day use in Cabo and PV if my DD5 decides to melt, throw a fit or needs a break from the crowds. I was told by one of my friends that it allows access to all the things and activities at the Hotel where we are participating in the offshore excursion.

We have Palo's booked for Monday night at 7 p.m. and we are having a group dinner at Palo's again on Friday night.

As for meeting onboard, a breakfast is good or otherwise onboard where the children are playing in the pool.

We enjoy meeting other families especially those going on the cruise.

Hey hey hey!!! After 18 months of being on the "wait" list for first dinner seating, there was finally some openings today. If you have a travel agent, they need to switch it for you, otherwise get on that phone!!! See ya next week!

I finally received my travel documents. I had to hound our travel agent to get them.

So, here are new questions for those who have cruised before:

Where do I store my luggage when I unpack?

Should I be concerned about any part of the children's centers (Oceaneer Lab/Club) and their personnel?

What is the best time to work out at the fitness center? I have to keep up with the delicious food offered on the cruise.:yay:

Congrats on finally getting your docs! :woohoo:

About the luggage - we were able to fit all our luggage into one end of the closet ( pretty well packed in) on our first DCL cruise. On our more recent cruise, we used a tip I found on these boards and stored everything under the bed - you may have to lift up the bed a little to slide it under OR open a suitcase flat to make it fit, but that's another great solution.

We never had any issues with the lab last time, so I have nothing to report there. And we didn't use the fitness center last time so I can't help there.

ONLY 10 MORE DAYS TO BOARDING!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We used the fitness center on a port day, and no one was in there. Can't speak for other times.

hi everyone! im a 12 year old DD. and my DM and i r going on the double dip cruise. i would love to meet anyone around the same age.

Me, DH, DD (12) & DS (9). Can't wait. We're huge Disney fans .... DL 8 times in last three years plus WDW May 2007.:cool1:

I can't believe it is coming so quickly!!!! We have all been planning this for so long!!! :cheer2:

What shore excursions are you guys doing? We are on our own in Cabo, Lighthouse Hike in Mazatlan, and Paradise Beach Resort in PV.
