July 5th Dream

Castaway Cay meet sounds fantastic!

I haven't been there since they revamped it, but last time we were there the end of the family beach had a bar that looked out over the water. Now I haven't actually been to that bar, for like Lgcountry I am all about parking and being served, but that part of the family beach tends to not be as crowded as the area closer to the ship. If we all just wanted to hang out and visit during the day, maybe we could trek to that end when we get off the boat and then all be in the general area?

We would need some way to recognize each other. How about a piece of bright coloured ribbon tied to a chair so we know that it is ok to go say hello? Or some other way to identify ourselves? Or you all could just watch me go around saying hello to random people and watch them look at me like I am some weirdo!

I think the cabanas are just on the other side of that part of the family beach too, so if anyone does end up getting lucky and reserves a cabana, it won't be a far walk to come hang out. Or we go crash their cabana.:woohoo: Works for me! ;)

Anyone else onboard with Lgcountry's meet idea?

And if someone does want to say hello at the front of the ship on sailaway, I am the short fat blond that will have moist eyes when the ship's horn plays. I am just a sap at heart!

Just checkin ....were PIFed and have all of our ressies in ... sorry havent been on the thread as much , if anyone needs to reach me please PM me as life has kept me busy ...

Does anyone know if there are fireworks anywhere near the port for the 4th of July? We're staying at the Country Inn & Suites pre-cruise, and hoping there will be some celebrations nearby that we might see from there.

I am thinking we might all wear a little ribbon on our beach bags or something.. like a little code of some sort in order to be discreet but also be known... does that sound doable? I saw somewhere else about personalized ribbon. I am starting to look into that for the FE exchange anyway.

I think the ribbon idea is a great one. LOL in honor of the DIS'ers, I guess we should use a lime green!:cool1: Actually, probably any green would work.

Just one question! Why do we need to be discreet? I'm not sure I can do that. :rotfl: Actually, doing the chair and the bag is a good idea, I think. The chair will be marked so others will know you are in the area if you go in the water. And the bag will be good if you are walking around, at the bar or whatever. Plus, if you use the same bag on the ship, others can still come up and say Hi!

One of these days, I'll go take a look at a Castaway map and get the name of the bar. I haven't been there since the renovation either. Right now, however, I'm going to go take a nap. I am going on an all-night laser tag outing with a bunch of teenagers, so I need my rest!:scared1:

I think the ribbon is easy. we could just cut a piece and pin into our bag, much like the breast cancer etc ribbons, it would also be easy to attach to gear.

Folks,
Just a word of caution (and maybe it won't impact us) but the FINAL shuttle launch is scheduled for June 28th. IF NASA should slip the launch date a week (due to weather, bird poop or whatever other thing NASA uses to decide why to slip the launch) it's right on top of our departure day. While I'm sure we'd have a great view the traffic would be a mess!
Again, I don't know if that slip would happen, but just wanted to give folks a heads up. (I'm sure the July 1 passengers would want to be aware as well in case it doesn't slip as far as the 5th).

Home depot has (or use to have) the lime green mickey heads in their paint department for the Disney line of paint. I was thinking about getting some of those and laminating them into luggage tags so that it would be easy to spot.

This is what we have attached to our backpacks that we wear at the parks. It works great! We'll be using them on this trip too. I like the ribbon idea also.

That would be freaking awesome....the launch not the traffic :rotfl:

Watching a shuttle launch, especially the last one, would be so fantastic! Heck, even if the launch is a few days before, we just may have to skip the park plans for that day just to drive out somewhere to watch the shuttle take off.

Looks like I will have to take a trip to Home Depot and look for the Mickey heads. Maybe, if we get lucky and get umbrellas, we can tie a few to some umbrellas to claim our meet spot? I am sure we all will figure out the particulars before we arrive.

Are we thinking of the area at the end of the family beach, or somewhere closer to the ship? Some people will have to make sure they get off early enough to go and claim a few chairs before the beach is inundated.

I would offer to be that person, but I am attempting to tell myself to start running so I can do the Castaway Cay 5k! I figure my best time will be about 2 hours, so everyone else will be at the beach already before I even get near the finish line. I would like to try and start running here, but the weather has not been cooperating. I also hate running, and am fat, so that all doesn't help matters any! But I would like a certificate saying I have completed the 5K, since I have never done anything like this before and my DH will be shocked.

Plus, I figure when I cross the finish line 2 hours later, red and hot and sweating, I will never see anyone there again, so it won't matter how yucky I look and that I will be the last one!

Or I might just be too tired to wake early the morning of the 5K and skip it all together. I haven't told anyone in my family that I want to do this, so if I do skip it, they can't tease me about it later. All bases are covered here!

Just have a Mojito waiting for me by out meeting area, and I will hopefully have survived and will meet you all there! :thumbsup2

The meet idea sounds great! Of course I too will be at the front of the ship when it pulls out of port --- and I also cry!!!

So I dreamt last night that I had procrastinated terribly and put off my packing to the last minute. In my dream, I was crying in the car because I started remember all the things I wanted to pack, but forgot to. Everyone was mad at me because they were all counting on me to make this a perfect vacation and I had ruined it by forgetting to pack.

Gosh, think I might have some issues, no? :confused3

And the cat that pee'd in my favorite carry-on a couple weeks ago? She got into the suitcase I had been throwing miscellaneous things in (my fault, I let the zipper slightly open), and pee'd again. Luckily, she pee'd on my husband's shorts that needed to be tossed anyway (what is it with my husband and his love of clothing that is worn out?). I may have to tell DH that the cat pee won't come out and we need to go buy new shorts for him. Yippee!

And I think the cat wants to come with us. Think Disney will recognize her as a Service Cat? ;)

I have a question about what people usually wear, during the day... are most women in sundresses , skirts or is it more casual?

Thanks for the update. I really appreciate it. Would you happen to know about the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Swim or Jet Skis? I have to wait another week since I'm a 1st timer.
