July 4th Outside the Parks

3 weeks in OKW from 22nd June. We are finished our ADR's which is the biggest decision and we have a fairly easygoing day to day plan. Also decided to sneak over to Universal for a night and Legoland for a day. But what we dont know is what to do about July 4th. We have an ADR for Raglan road bout 5pm which can easily be cancelled. We dont fancy the crowds as we have a 4 and 8 year old in our party. Can anyone make a recommendation for July 4th. Outside the parks.

Thinking that we may go to a water park or just enjoy the resort

We will be at OKW too, we have found it best just to hang about the resort that day, may be be go to down down for a few hrs in the afternoon. Then after diner we go to the polly beach to watch the fireworks. It is best to avoid traveling as not only are the parks bad but the roads around disney also get backed up too.

we've done july 4th every which way..
one year we went on DCL to avoid being near the parks..
one year we were at universal first - over the 4th...
universal wasn't bad at all..

and then one year we were at WDW...
we went to the MK because i wanted to see the fireworks...
it was a mass of people but those fireworks were worth every hit by a stroller...
the most wonderfully patriotic fireworks ever!!!
but i say that as a sappy american expat....i just loved the patriotic add on at the end of the regular fireworks...
(my kids weren't happy that i sang out loud)...

but unless you like patriotic american songs, not really worth the heaving crowds...unless you just like to watch americans being patriotic......which itself is interesting i suppose..
