Hi,
My family and I have 5:45 reservations July4th for an Italian dinner at Epcot. We are not sure if it would be best to stay at Epcot and try to see the fireworks. FYI---I have three little ones and will not be looking to "sit" for hours in one spot waiting--we'll do things and then watch whatever we can. My friend has been on July4th many times and says that DHS is the place to be for fireworks. What would be the best way to get over there?? We have a rental car---should I leave the car at Epcot and take Disney transportation to/from DHS? Or just drive over to DHS after eating at Epcot. Thanks!

I would drive and leave the car at DHS..then either walk or boat back to Epcot. The boat will be a 25 min ride (in addition to any wait time), the walk will take under 20 mins along a nice, well lit, safe sidewalk. This walkway runs along the canal from DHS, to behind BW, ending up on the S/D end of BW, at the boardwalk. You then take the boarwalk over to Epcot. Very easy.
Being at Italy already, you are very close to the boat dock at the International Gateway. Much faster than walking to the front of Epcot and getting your car and driving over.
But others may feel differently. I've never been to DHS for July 4 fireworks, so can't tell you anything there...didn't even know they did fireworks that night.

Thanks for the info---the boat ride sounds like a good idea---I'm sure my kids would enjoy that rather than walking!
