Hi All! I wanted to ask what are the opinions of watching the fireworks from CR’s Porte Cochere?

I booked Woody’s Roundup on July 4. I was hoping that I could switch this to Pirates and Pals but I have not seen it open for July 4 yet! So I’m preparing to just keep woody’s roundup which says fireworks will be shown at Porte cochere. Is this a public area where anyone else can watch? Also, does anyone know if they take passholder discounts for this event? :) thanks for your help!

The porte cochere is at the main entrance of the hotel. This is cars arrive when arriving or departing the resort. So yes, this would be a public area. Not too sure how the view of the fireworks would be from this location.

Map of Contemporary Resort (see below), porte cochere is letter A.

Thanks for clarifying... that seems pretty weird they would bring guests there. I’m thinking of cancelling (especially since the cost is sky high too!) but unsure of alternatives. What would you think is the best alternative of watching from a resort?

Since the 7/3 and 7/4 shows utilize the island launch point in the middle of the Seven Seas Lagoon, in addition to the traditional MK locations and MK perimeter fireworks, it makes for better viewing options than a traditional night. If in front of CR, you’ll have fireworks going off over the lagoon right in front of you and the ones in/around the MK.

Not a great visual because this angle is from Poly, but just picture yourself rotated over to CR there to the right and looking from that angle.

I have the Round Up BBQ booked for the 5th. I just looked up the Porte-Cochere at the Contemporary and it looks like this is an event space in the convention center. Here is a link to the Fairytale Weddings site with pictures. Looks like a great place to watch the fireworks!

Yeah, disclaimer in that I have not watched fireworks from there, but know the space well and have seen the 7/3-7/4 shows the last two years from Poly. My opinion is so long as they have the audio pumped in, this would be a pretty darn good spot.

Oh that looks very nice and makes sense on how it’s arranged I guess! I pictured it as having the event somewhere inside the contemporary then someone walking guests out. Lol! Thanks so much!! I’m still on the fence about the cost and the food but looking at those pictures, I’m now a little more likely to keep it lol

Amazing pictures! I was thinking about Poly beach as an alternative... just get a dole whip and watch the show! But I’ve never watched MK fireworks from outside of MK so wasn’t very sure of how it is! Thank you for this!!

Just FYI, the main Poly beach area with the best view is reserved for Poly guests on 7/4. You can find other spots - the TTC, the walkway between GF and Poly, etc, but the main beach will be fenced off if they follow prior year patterns.

Whatever you do, enjoy. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed 7/3 & 7/4 in/around the MK the last two years, bummed to be missing it this year.

Oh thanks for the info! I am glad I know that now than get there and scramble to think of where to watch! We’re actually going to be at Universal those few days and are going over to Disney just for some shopping at DS and fireworks. :)

We watched the fireworks from there last July 3rd while attending a DVC event. I would not do it again. It was a very bad angle from which to view them. I found it very disappointing.

Ohh, I thought that when I first saw pictures by searching on google but it looked pretty nice on the website above. Thanks for sharing your experience:) Maybe I need to find alternate plans. @GADisneyDad14 is the beach reserved for guests on the 3rd too?

I booked the BBQ for the 4th also.... I do hope they make sure we can hear the audio. I have watched the fireworks from the Poly and they were great. I guess I will stick with it and enjoy the food and adult beverages. They do claim on the website from the description:

Fireworks

Saunter over to the Porte Cochere for the night’s final showdown: a stellar view of Magic Kingdom park’s amazing fireworks

LOL.... so I guess Disney thinks its stellar. :goodvibes
