We will be in Universal/Islands over July 4th weekend. This is our 3rd year going, but the first over a holiday. Would anyone be able to tell me how bad the crowds can get? :confused3

Welcome to the Dis! You would probably get more answers on the Universal Forum rather than the Trip Reports Forum. If you have gone twice before and are now intending to go on your first holiday you can expect the crowds to surpass your previous trips. A good suggestion is to arrive early in the day and try to beat the crowd.

I figured there would be no way to escape the crowds! :cool1: Going with an open mind and lots of patience. :sunny: Thanks for the advice.

We have been there a few times over July 4th. On the 4th the crowds are HUGE. The fireworks that night are spectacular, but you can't even get through City Walk until well after the fireworks end.
If you are staying on site, wait times for attractions should not be an issue.

We were there last 4th, VERY BUSY ~VERY HOT!!!!! We had a little advantage by staying at the RPR so didn't have to wait to to long but just trying to get from point A to point B very diffucult.

We watched the fireworks from the beach at the Royal Pacific and they was great, both parks set them off at the same time, same fireworks over both.

Lots of Fun

New Year's Eve is very similar. We ended up watching the fireworks from the 6th floor (top) of the parking garage. From that vantage point we saw fireworks in other parts of the City as well and was able to make a clean getaway when all was done.

Don't worry about the heat. It is almost always hot in Florida.

Crowds: You will not be the only person in the parks that weekend. But if you get there early, with an agenda, you will be able to get a lot done before the crowds get too big. Also, you will have the benefit of longer hours.

Have fun.
