July 4th at Universal

We have an opportunity to go to Universal on 7/4 but I'm wondering how crazy it is? I'm imagining unbelievable crowds and since we'll be staying at the YC in Disney we won't be able to get FOTL. Do they have special events for that day? TIA

I went a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare. In the park was crowded but that is to be expected for a holiday event. The buggest problem came when we tried to leave it literally took two hours just to pull out of the parking garage. The first hour was spent being blocked in our parking space due to traffic build up in the garage. I guess if you are on site it wouldn't be horrible. I won't go again on the 4th of July.

I've been there twice for the 4th of July, but I was staying on site. The fireworks that night are spectacular. They are set off simultaneously at US, IOA, and City Walk. Yes it's packed for the fireworks. We just scoped out a good place in the park and relaxed. Don't try to hurry and leave when the firworks end. It's barely possible to get through City Walk. So, just relax and enjoy the parks and atmosphere until the crowds thin out!!

That's why I'm going July 6-8. Fireworks will happen those nights, parks stay open until 10pm, and crowds should be ok since everyone just visited.

We were there 7/4/04. I would not repeat that without being onsite. We had a great view of the fireworks from our hotel room. We saw some off in the distance that I thought might be from Disney. Wherever you are that night, I think a big dose of patience is the order of the day. Enjoy!

We're going to US on 7/4 - 7/7. My niece is getting married 7/2, and I just can't justify another trip from NM to FL w/o going to USO. Staying at HRH and trying to convince DH that it won't be so bad! Yeah, right! Kids will have fun anyway.... as was said - patience is the key!
