July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

So has anyone made any more plans for the port days? Anymore DIY excursions that people want to share info on?

Thanks, yes- we had issues with using Free miles and could not use them until after July 21th due to a much needed upcoming doctor apt for my youngest son, ( which we didn't think we would have issues but ened up having them) so we had to cancel the cruise due to not wanting to lose full refund. I suppose so if it was me I would do same...
But we are looking into staying at Disneyland Paris the 1st week of Aug. if we can get flight booked OK, -we have to fly into Sweden the 1st week ( sometime July 21 or after )I have been Disneyland Paris twice, one myself with two kids in July oh weather was fab... but very busy... lovely small disneyland, but only things people are very rude... you have to stick up yourself... and so that is where we are running into issues with flight and free miles. But who knows if things change and we can work it out then we will still come on the cruise so we shall see, may no more by mid June I think.:) But if not we will still love going to visit Disney Paris and Pairs for a few days in Aug.:)okay hope if you can make it, that would be great but dont worry if you cannot make it as you still have fun at Paris Disneyland...

Thanks :goodvibes

We're not planning on booking any excursions. We've done a bit of research and it seems most of the stops have hop-on/hop-off sightseeing buses so we'll probably take advantage of those. Apart from that we don't have any firm plans yet.

We are also planning to mainly use the Hop on hop off buses in most ports. We are planning to do the Aquarium in Cherbourg, go for a wander in Vigo, Lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Lisbon, nothing much planned for Cadiz. I think we will do our own Gibraltar excursion as the Disney one seems quite expensive.

One of the really good things about this cruise in particular is that there seems to be quite a good range of inexpensive diy excursions which we can take advantage of. for us it is partly the cheaper cost of DIY excursions that is appealing but mainly with our small children the main advantage of going it alone is that the only schedule we have to keep to is our own - well of course we have to keep in mind the all aboard times but aside from that we can take as little or as long as we like rather than going at the pace of an excursion group.

I have had a bit of a rubbish day with a less than productive visit to my consultant dermatologist and believe me, I am SOOOO looking forward to this cruise - the fact that it is coming round so fast is keeping me positive :) Of course I will be rebooking on board so I have something else to look forward to once this one is over!

Is there a HOHO bus in Lisbon, that might be what I am looking for?

Yes! Try this website

http://www.city-discovery.com/lisbon/hop_on_and_off_tours?gclid=CJ2O-7Tbz6ECFdpo4wodNUufIQ

We are considering this too.

This cruise was our first choice after the Baltic ( I couldn't do due to work) because of the ability to do most ports ourselves. Having done the Med in 2007 and taken mostly Disney tours we came home with empty pockets for a couple of months! Glad we took the Florence one with Disney as someone got on the wrong bus in Florence and they spent 1hr plus trying to find the person and get them safely back to the ship. They had to ring ahead to the ship and we were the last tender out! Bit of a horror for all concerned but thank goodness it was disney!
Hope this is of use (the website )

This webiste: http://www.isango.com/portugal-tours/lisbon-tours/lisbon-hop-on-hop-off-sightseeing-tour_7880 has a bit more info no the "Yellow HoHo" buses in Lisbon including the routes BUT when I put in our party details it was almost twice as expensive as the tickets bookable on the link Piggy & Bear posted. I think we will be getting HoHo tickets and travelling on the Olissipo route which takes us to the Oceanarium at the Parc of Nations. We will do this early then head back to the ship for lunch and put the kids in the clubs to spend a bit more time exploring on our own in the afternoon on the other Tagus route as we want to visit the Belem area i think.

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend?

The expensive one is a 2 day pass, on the left is the option for a 1 day pass and I think it is the same price. Anyone know if there is a stop near the port?

I'm doing the Playtex Moonwalk in aid of a few breast cancer charities tomorrow night. Walking 13.1 miles around London! :scared1:
I'm doing it with some other Dibbers .. one of them, Vron, is also on this cruise with us.

Think of us when you're tucked up in your beds Saturday/Sunday!

This time in 11 weeks we'll be onboard!!! I can't believe how excited i am! :dance3:
And i definitely have some rather exciting plans for the weekend - tomorrow i will be taking part in the London Moonwalk where i will be walking 13.1 miles at night in my bra to raise money for breast cancer awareness! My friends and i will be dressed as Minnie Mouse - red and white spotty bras, matching tutus and of course Minnie ears! I've never done it before and am really looking forward to it! :cool1:

Wonderful for you both!! It is a very worthy cause which I support in the States --- never quite could make myself do the walk but have supported friends who did!! Should burn a few of the pre-cruise pounds!!!:rotfl2:

I love going to the Zoo...Sounds like a great weekend. Summer has arrived in Florida and that means it is time to go scuba diving. We are going tomorrow on our first trip for the summer. So I am guessing the boat will break, the seas will be rough, and the ocean will be cloudy...but it will still be a fun adventure to see all the pretty fish. We are very thankful the Oil Spill has not impacted any Florida shoreline....

Have fun Vron! I did the sunwalk last July in a flower covered bra! it was hard work but really uplifting doing it as part of a huge group of women. Hope it doesn't rain for you!
